MissKittyKitty · 14/12/2020 15:13

Great Grensons Bernice and Shop as Claudia was wearing all black I couldn't see much of the playsuit but she's usually very stylish so I'm sure it was fab. I like how she team it.

Lib MiL sounds very trying. Doesn't she like her granddaughter? Confused As for swimsuits I like an all black one these days that holds everything in. In fact the one that Shop linked was lovely.

Shop Thanks it's okay not to be okay. xx

libertyonhertravels · 14/12/2020 19:16

Great boots shop. And you will look fab in the play suit.

So good to see you bernice - love the boots. Grenson is such a good brand for your style.

Thanks kitty. MIL actually does like DD but cant help herself with trying to find fault with everyone. DD's faults are then my fault for not being strict enough.

Good tips on swimwear. I tend to avoid black but probably it's a good idea for a one piece. Shopping trip this morning. I shall report back.

Thank you for your nice words everybody - I don't love my shape but I don't hate it I have lost a little weight this year.
I have definitely decided to buy smaller amounts of quality items rather than lots of cheaper bits I brought a stunning jumper from Mint Velvet at the weekend which I am keeping for Christmas day to go stand on my parents drive way in (happy Christmas!) and have just brought ordered myself a new handbag.
I'm very sorry to read people are having hard times as another PP said its OK to not be OK.
by the way... Can anybody suggest any websites to look at? I am of reasonable budget and happy to pay more for something great. I seem to be looking at the same clothes constantly online.

shopafrolic · 14/12/2020 20:22

Can you give us some idea of your style @S0CKS ?
Maybe link some things you love. Then I’m sure we can recommend some retailers.
@BerniceBobsHerHair lush to see you, and to share a Grenson delivery day with you Smile
News this evening is lousy - sending love to all. And thanks for you all being wonderful Flowers

Stokey · 14/12/2020 21:10

Loving the Grensons Shop & Bernice, such great buys for you both.

Lib don't know if they deliver to where you are but I like Hoola a lot in swim wear. Also like Sea folly but not so great for the large of nork.

It was meant to be my night out with school friends tonight but in the end it just felt too risky si we cancelled. We have one of the highest rates in London, Dd2's class bubble has been isolating for the last week, my neighbour's child just tested positive, and our school has been told to remote work from tomorrow. Totally know what you mean about missing the party season Shop, we're here all over Christmas too, just feels a bit flat. I'm also crazily busy at work & could really have done with a few more days without any children in the house!

shopafrolic · 14/12/2020 22:00

Eugh @Stokey that is all too close to home isn’t it.
Sorry your night out got cancelled but probably for the best right now. I hear you about having kids at home and I don’t even work! I’m finding it hard to keep miniShop entertained. And I just feel desperately sad for him and have to cover it up and be fake jolly. He finished school last week so i need to get my game face on.
Read a post from Beverley Knight this eve about how hard it is that London shows are cancelled again. Pointed out that a lot of theatre staff quit their part time cover jobs to get back to working in their chosen trade, and now those jobs won’t be available to them so it’s a double whammy. How can anyone plan like this? So tough.

Themarvellousmrsm · 15/12/2020 07:05

Fierce Grensons girls! Love them.

Bernice I wore a very similar outfit to you yesterday-black wide culottes (fairly long on me!) & chunky chelsea boots.

Wondering what to wear today-the zebra print Whistles dress layered over a polo neck is winning so far. This is a good few years old now but one of my favourites.

Thanks for everyone struggling atm. It's all just pants

Themarvellousmrsm · 15/12/2020 07:57

Here's a few links of some lovely clothes

Valentino jacket - love this

Grey cardi - I'd wear this all.the.time if it was within my budget

jumpsuit - totally impractical sleeves but the model looks good

Talking of impractical, whilst gorgeous, I'm not sure this shearling bag would last 5 minutes without getting dirty

Love the style of this bag, not heard of the brand Boyy

And finally (as I need to get up & go to work)

Whilst googling jumper dresses (on my wish list) came across this from All Saints - love it but sadly no where to wear it. I'd like a much more casual slouchy affair

libertyonhertravels · 15/12/2020 08:01

I'm depressed reading the news from UK. We're so lucky over here but I hate seeing how hard it is for others.

Successful swimwear shopping today. I bought this sunseeker onepiece and I bought a big floppy straw hat and a cream and black zebra print pop over (it's not unlike your Whistles dress mrsm) in H&M so feeling suitably attired for the spa.

I also got offered a new job today Smile so feel the move is coming together nicely.

MissKittyKitty · 15/12/2020 08:15

Great swimsuit Lib I love the back of it. I always wear some type of cover up walking to and from the pool. I just clicked on your spa link - looks great - enjoy. I'm jealous! And super well done on the job offer - such fab news.

I'm watching. BBC Breakfast at the moment and yes the news is pretty grim. My area has been put into Tier 3. Sad

MissKittyKitty · 15/12/2020 08:18

Love the links MrsM especially the Valentino jacket I just wish that style of jacket suited me. I also love the Boyy bag- such a classic style of bag.

libertyonhertravels · 15/12/2020 09:36

I think I cross posted with you mrsm and missed your links earlier. I love the All Saints dress - it would be a good Christmas day dress I think.

Thanks for the congrats kitty. I'm feeling very relieved as it means we can get on with buying a house.

LOVE that swimsuit @libertyonhertravels - perfect

Dreamqueen · 15/12/2020 10:13

Morning MNV. Didn't realise that the thread was active again. Going to read back.

Lovely boots Shop and Bernice Off to look at the links with excitement.

libertyonhertravels · 15/12/2020 10:32

Thanks shop! I just followed your advice which made it easy Smile

shopafrolic · 15/12/2020 11:58

YAY!!!! Good to see you @Dreamqueen
Glad the advice helped @libertyonhertravels
So the Zara playsuit that Claudia wore turned up. It is too short in the body for me in a medium so would need a large - but to be honest with you, the quality is poor and the fabric isn't great. So I won't bother. Shame, as the style was perfect for me, high neck, shoulder detail and pockets!! - would love it remade in a better fabric......
playsuit here
So back it goes.

shopafrolic · 15/12/2020 13:32

Erborian lovers of CC cream / BB cream. Nadine Baggott just did a YouTube review of their products a d has a code for 20% off their website with free delivery - excludes gift sets. NADINE20
I just ordered a BB cream to try as a change from the CC. Makes the cost a lot more bearable.

libertyonhertravels · 19/12/2020 02:29

Random OOTD post to bump the thread Smile

Dark denim look short shirt dress from H&M. Adidas superstars with bronze stripes. Oversize Missoni sunnies. Floppy H&M sunhat.

Not much inspiration for the northern hemisphere admittedly.

I'm enjoying a very cold beer in the sun while DH takes DD swimming.

Ooh Lib that sounds blissful, and love the sound of your outfit.

Hush have got a pre Christmas 20% off so have ordered a couple of pairs of their joggers - have been living in the leopard ones I own. Also some pyjamas.

Tough times here, we're waiting for test results after dd1 got a temperature and sore throat. Cases have been soaring amongst school kids so my joggers may well be all I'm wearing over Christmas!

libertyonhertravels · 20/12/2020 01:14

Just catching up on UK news stokey and sadly it does sound like a Christmas in joggers Xmas Sad

So, given that pretty much no one is getting their ideal Christmas shall we share ideas on how to make the day special regardless?

Here we are doing a treat Christmas breakfast of bagels with smoked salmon and cream cheese. Sparkling grape juice for DD and the proper stuff for me and DH. We'll open presents while Zooming DD's cousins in Ireland (as it will be xmas eve there) so they can see that Santa has been to NZ and is therefore definitely en route despite Covid.

In the evening we'll do another Zoom so DD can see what her cousins get from Santa. Then we'll watch a movie while digging out on pavlova and a cheese board.

in the afternoon we're going to a hotel for Christmas lunch but no one in UK or Ireland will want to know about that

Boxing day morning will be another Zoom call home - I'll have an Irish coffee and my siblings and parents will be having hot whiskey and we'll try a Zoom sing song.

In years to come we'll reminisce about Christmas 2020 and reflect fondly on our resilience and ability to make the best of anything Xmas Grin

Yes it's all a bit rubbish here in the UK Lib, like a lot of us on here, we've gone into tier4. Dashed out last night to meet ds to swap gifts so the dgc's will get theirs but am v sad I won't get to see them.

Revised plans are basically drinking our way through it dog walks, lots of zooming, zoom bingo and poker! Feel very down today but will buck up soon & get on with it!

Thanks for the Hush heads up Stokey, I have a few things in my basket but dithering-unless it's loungewear, it's probably not going to get any wear. How are their joggers lengthwise? Think you're on the shorter side like me.

Hope everyone is ok

Stokey · 20/12/2020 12:18

MrsM mine are a good length on me and I'm 5 ft 3. I often wear them rolled up though when I'm dressing them up a bit (leaving the house)! They do come up big, lots of people say to size down but I quite like the extra girth.

Sorry you won't see your grandkids, it sucks. We had already decided not to go to my in-laws as they are 70+ and live in low risk area which is lucky as Dd1 has tested positive. So we're in full isolation now until the 28th. Luckily she feels ok, just a sore throat. It's just hard not being able to go for walks.

Lib your Christmas sounds lovely, ah the bliss of eating out. Feel so sorry for all the restaurants, pubs and small businesses that have been hit by the new restrictions.

We're planning some zoom drinks with friends, roast chicken for Christmas lunch (praying Ocado doesn't substitute), then board games in the afternoon and movies.

Applefairy · 21/12/2020 06:06

Envious of the Grensons - they don't go down to my size or I would be tempted. I can empathise with how many of you are feeling - in our long second lockdown through winter everything felt so grim - and our DCs were not at school either - it was tough. Clotheswise, buying some nice lounge wear, joggers, new sweatshirts, athleisure and warm walking boots made me feel a bit more put together.

It won't last forever - and I promise, once things get a bit better and the weather starts to turn to spring, life is much more enjoyable.

In the meantime, I can post some OOTD inspiration - I went to a daytime Christmas party last week and wore this navy and beige checked dress with navy suede open toe mules and and navy APC half moon. I felt the best I have for a long time.

I have received my Outnet order but it was far to hot here for me to try on faux fur and ski jumpers last week. I ordered a number of sweatshirts too but they are all a bit tight fitting and rather unflattering. I will keep this Ganni t-shirt.

The red Valentino dress is a winner - I love the colour and the fit is perfect - just need somewhere to wear it now!
