New year, new decade, new thread. Come join us for friendly fashion chat, you can agonise over the right length to wear your jeans or deliberate the exact tone of lippy. A frivolous space in tricky times. All welcome.

Thanks all :) honestly the whole process was so fun.

Dry for some reason I was thinking you might be tempted to order a bag too. I know you like your coloured bags.

My colleague has that H&M dress and it is really lovely.

Lib that jumper is very cool! I ordered a colourblock intarsia cardigan from Poland and I'm waiting for that to arrive.

maradesbois · 25/09/2020 12:47

Loved your deep dive Blair, Vintage MNV indeed.

Shop lots of Grenson Nanette boots around in London, really like them plus the brogue boots. Agree about second thoughts on big purchases though Sad.

My autumn shoes are these fugly Marant clogs (pictured). I got them on sale early this year but only just started wearing. Really like the JW Anderson chain loafer mules too but don’t need 2 pairs in this style. Could really do with some black flats I can walk for miles in but look good too.

Love that we are still wearing our ss17 (I think?) H&M prairie dress lib. I used to see it around lots but not this year. It has lasted so much better than anything I’ve had from Zara, have banned myself from Zara dresses. For high street I think Arket and Cos are great for basics and hope neither goes under.

@BlairWaldorfLovesShopping linking to the outnet led me to this coat, which arrived yesterday and it is LOVE. Wore it on the school run and got lots of compliments, so thanks Blair!

Itsmybirthday19 · 25/09/2020 16:08

Also love your bag - what a great post!

Itsmybirthday19 · 25/09/2020 16:09

I have a jade roller I keep in the fridge mara, I do think it helps with morning puffiness

Stokey · 25/09/2020 16:27

God I love that coat Itsmybirthday can totally picture you rocking it. Love the bag story Blair, can't wait to see the finished product.

Really liking your clogs too Mara, takes me back to the early 90s where they had a bit of a moment.

We've had a stressful 24 hours as Dd1's school year got sent home yesterday after a TA tested positive. Back to home schooling today, but this afternoon we got told only 1 of the 4 classes in her year need to self isolate ( not hers) Luckily TA is doing ok too. Did bring it home how cases are ramping up again & it's probably just a matter of time before we're back in isolation.

Applefairy · 25/09/2020 16:58

Smile I am so glad you are all back. I was really down about the demise of MNV just yesterday. I am not sure if anyone remembers me - I am in the same hemisphere (different country) as libertyonhertravels. We are just coming into spring and I am so desperate to give my wardrobe a shake up and clear out as soon it will be too warm for joggers and hoodies - and I am craving an opportunity to dress up with some effort again.

We are still in a strict lockdown - I have't got dressed nicely for work since early March and nothing open for eating out etc. It's strictly trips to the nearest park for a while yet.

But today I took DS to a hospital appointment and wore jeans with cream sweatshirt, Burberry trench, v old J Crew black cashmere scarf and Common Projects black trainers which I now have in black (have also the white from years ago). Too busy covering my inches of grey with spray in dye (salons still closed) so no time to forage for a bag so picked up my trusty old black Bayswater. I forgot how long it takes to 'get dressed' Blush.

This weekend I am doing a wardrobe swap for summer and a cull of what I no longer absolutely love. I do find it hard to throw clothes out (I've had regrets, previously) so I am going to help myself to be ruthless by putting anything that is not perfect for next season into the loft.

Everyonelovessparkles · 25/09/2020 17:40

itsmybirthday that coat is fab and can totally see you in it.

applefairy I know what you mean about ‘getting dressed’ and how long it takes. Whilst I’ve tried to make some sort of effort (ie not just joggers or running gear) it’s a far cry from a real put together outfit.

I found a top in my wardrobe the other day that I had bought a year ago and it still had tags on Blush i had totally forgotten about it. I’m trying to only replace things at the moment. There’s no where to go so no point buying loads of new stuff. It’s just a bit depressing. (Also things aren’t great with me and DH so am saving my money).

CarolineBingley · 26/09/2020 06:58

I loved your bag post @BlairWaldorfLovesShopping what a wonderful journey! The bags look gorgeous. Definitely one I have earmarked for the future. I haven’t used the vast majority of my bags in 18 months (probably the same 3/4) so they all sit forlornly in their dust bags on their shelves probably silently weeping!

@maradesbois love that H&M print. This weeks channeling my inner “Mara” meant I wore this Oasis bird print top on Thursday and this warehouse floral gathered neck top yesterday. Both with jeans. I have worn more and more yellow gold jewellery over the last year so yesterday with the warehouse top I wore gold and blue topaz earrings that I had made for me about 20 years ago, pomalleto stacking rings and Swarovski multi coloured crystal bracelet.

@Itsmybirthday19 I love the coat, it’s so you in all your fabulous gloryGrin

@Applefairy nice to see you back! I am about to do the wardrobe switchover too. Sadly to autumn winter!

@Everyonelovessparkles sorry to hear things aren’t good at home xxx

DryWhiteagainW · 26/09/2020 07:54

Blair I’d love a wine coloured bag....but this is really not urgent and I’ve made my big purchase for the season.
In other news, I’ve taken up running (because my gym classes still are not back) and after 3 weeks have messed up my ankles and knees Hmm bought new trainers (£££) hope this will sort out the prob.

Themarvellousmrsm · 26/09/2020 09:52

So lovely to see you all again waves & blows covid free kisses

Blair great bag post - looking forward to seeing pics when it arrives

Dry I've given up any exercise that involves running and jumping - invariably end up with something hurting and requiring physio! Nice boots.

Shop so happy you managed to tick a few items off your lust list - love the ML jumper

I first met Kitty in J Crew - think I was with Dry, anyway, sorry to see them go even if I don't buy much from there.

Fab coat Itsmybirthday19; I have one in boring black from Uniqlo which i wore so much last winter. Sorry to hear about your dd but glad she's on the mend.

Mara I like your IM cloggs - how are you wearing them? I've read mixed reviews about jade rollers but it can't hurt to have a go.

Good luck with your job hunting and move Lib

Caroline the Oasis bird print top is very pretty. Your poor unused bags......do they need rehoming? she asks hopefuly Grin

Sending you hugs Everyone, I do like your SJP shoes.

DryWhiteagainW · 26/09/2020 12:27

OTTD......it’s been ages since we’ve had these:

Khaki chinos
Black merino crew neck (old Gap)
Air and Grace white trainers with silver and gold trims
Mango short boxy blazer in black tweed with fringing
Lots of gold stacking bracelets

VivaVegas · 26/09/2020 12:54

So nice to have this thread back and links of nice things to look at.

Since we were last on here my divorce has been finalised and I now own what was our family home.

I found the strict period of lockdown very hard as I was either with my DS trying to work full time from home and homeschool or completely on my own when he was at his dads.

I distracted myself by revamping my garden and ran lots and started cycling again. I've started to do a few bits to the house to make it mine but doubt I'll stay here long term.

I had a lovely 5 month romance but lockdown ruined that when we couldn't see each other for 3 months.

I went out last night and wore my lovely new Whistles boots. It was freezing though and I wished this lovely https://www.mintvelvet.co.uk/product/black-faux-fur-easy-coat/26041]] had arrived. Ever the optimist that there will still be some semblance of a social life this winter 🙄

Everyonelovessparkles · 26/09/2020 18:13

Wow viva your life has changed! I think at the end of the last thread you were going on date nights with your DH to see if things could get back on track. Hope you’re ok with the change. Good for you for having a little romance too!!

Great tops caroline. You have such an amazing jewellery collection to elevate any outfit!!

Went to the science museum today. For london peeps it’s quite a good time to go to the National history and science museums as you have to book and there is reduced capacity, so they’re not as rammed as usual. Only downside is having to wear a mask which I do find quite oppressive and claustrophobic for any length of time. Wore jeans, a cream ribbed top and a red hush cardigan / jacket (that I think caroline has as well), ballet flats and a navy le pillage bag. I was pleased with it as it felt quite ‘together’ even though very simple. (Or maybe my standards of a ‘together’ outfit have dropped during lockdown Grin).

Itsmybirthday19 · 26/09/2020 18:42

@Themarvellousmrsm I have the same Uniqlo one in tan, which I wore to death, so was inspired to get this one.

VivaVegas · 26/09/2020 20:48

Wow everyone that was back in late 2018, I remember as I was asking for advice on what to wear on here. I wasted my time and my energy as he was having an affair and had been for some time. Has been an awful couple of years, and just as I started to come out the other side Covid arrived!

Roll on seeing the back of this and some normality 🤞

CarolineBingley · 26/09/2020 21:21

Nice to hear you so upbeat after an awful couple of years @VivaVegasSmile I always love your links. I think I look more at mint velvet and whistles as a result of them.

Hello @Themarvellousmrsm!!! So funny, it's been bugging me as to what your mumsnet was and then when I saw your post I had a "who is that in real life again?" head scratching few minutes!

@Everyonelovessparkles yes I have the same hush basket stitch cardigan jacket. I love it so much, and your outfit sounded lovely.

CarolineBingley · 26/09/2020 22:08

So a Saturday night jewellery postSmile. Hope everyone having a nice evening!

With BoJo's wfh announcement this week, I have been taking another look at what earrings might look good on zoom calls. Most of my earrings tend to be studs though I have a couple of diamond drop earrings and also a couple of Swarovski drop ones. So I bought this ear jacket, these drop earrings, and these drop earrings from Carat*. I am looking forward to seeing what they're like on.

I have tried to wear more of my jewellery during lockdown although still suffering from my bad habit of quickly grabbing what's right in front of me.

Themarvellousmrsm · 27/09/2020 08:28

I have that red Hush cardi /jacket too

Caroline I couldn't see any of the earrings you've ordered but no doubt they're fab

I decided not to purchase any new clothes until 'all this' is over - caved after 6 weeks!

I supported a couple of local indie shops and bought some linen palazzo pants, lounging around pants and a dress very similar to the Whistles lola dresses - wore this with stans.

Also did a couple of Sweaty Betty orders - this in grey I wear all the time

This H&M dress was my favourite buy though. Am looking for something similar for winter to wear with either a jumper over the top or underneath with trainers or flatforms.

Oh and I bought a pair of these Whistles jeans which I love. However, I did need them taken up and whilst they still look good I feel lost a bit of their shape at the bottom. If anyone see similar with a short length fitting, let me know as I'd like another pair.

VivaVegas · 27/09/2020 09:11

Marvellous I love that SB hoody, I've got a couple from there from last year and the year before and they've stayed like new even after a lot of washing.

The Whistles jeans are nice too, I've just bought the boots the model has on. Most of my jeans are skinny still which suits me as I'm short and I feel dumpy in anything else but I'm thinking a pair like that do look good with the boots.

I didn't buy much for ages as I wasn't going anywhere and had taken on a bigger mortgage and bought more things for the garden and house but I appear to have gone off the rails the last month and that was before this thread! I have a couple of Jigsaw sale items I need to make a decision on whether to keep or not. The way things are going it'll just be new pjs and slippers needed 🙄

maradesbois · 27/09/2020 15:12

Vegas I can really get a sense of just how far you’ve come in getting through the emotional turmoil. Sounds like you are through to the other side and thriving, am so happy for you and wish you all the best for this next step. Financial independence is key - new house sounds fab.

Everyone Flowers hope you’re ok. We went to NHM on Sat, first time back since March. I got it wrong as thought Wildlife Photographer of the Year was on but it doesn’t open until Oct. Science museum will be for next weekend. It is nice seeing these places quieter but I worry for them re fundraising and lack of tourists.

Dry about your Covid running, word of warning I did exactly same as you and ended up with Runners Knee with is a massive pita which has plagued me since June. Have been seeing an amazing chiropractor and getting there but it takes ages to heal. Dm me if you want to discuss further, I can talk about it for hours but it is dull for others (so I’m told Grin).

I send back the floral Adidas I ordered. They were nice but but bit small and cba to order next size which showed they weren’t right. Think I need my trainers to be plain. May dip my toe into Vejas instead, am liking the look of these and think they will work better with my a/w wardrobe than the Continentals.

maradesbois · 27/09/2020 15:14

Also Marvellous wasn’t sure if I know you but when you mentioned ‘linen palazzo pants from local indie store’ I thought I had it...

Everyonelovessparkles · 27/09/2020 16:27

caroline I was intrigued to discover what an ‘ear jacket’ was! That is a nice selection and think they will all suit you.

Those Vejas are a nice colour mara and can see how they would fit in with the rest of your wardrobe (colour wise I thought they might suit lib too) but aren’t Vejas mean to be really uncomfortable?? Didn’t someone have a pair that they just didn’t get on with??? (Or am I making that up?? Confused)

I got into running during lockdown and was doing quite well but lost my mojo once it got a bit warmer and everyone was out and about. I then moved onto HIIT which I quite liked and saw a bit of impact from but have been pretty lazy this last month. Must try and start something again.....

VivaVegas · 28/09/2020 11:29

I run normally anyway but was running nearly every day when you could just exercise once and got a bit bored so got my abandoned road bike out and conquered my fear of that!

Have started cycling with a couple of friends but they are far better than me but I've got up to just over 30 miles now so feel I've achieved something. Not sure the Lycra I've had to buy is very fashionable though 🤣

Themarvellousmrsm · 28/09/2020 18:39

@VivaVegas I'm fairly short too and the Whistles jeans look fine - just need to balance out what you wear on the top. I've got a pair of snake skin print block heel boots that look nice with them - weather is now officially cold so may well wear them this week. Am pleased you've got yourself in a much better place now; cannot have been easy.

@maradesbois you definitely know me - we've met on a number of occasions. I did change my username earlier this year (as I was'fedup' with the old one) so maybe that's what's confusing!
