New year, new decade, new thread. Come join us for friendly fashion chat, you can agonise over the right length to wear your jeans or deliberate the exact tone of lippy. A frivolous space in tricky times. All welcome.

Picking up from here

Morning! Hope everyone okaySmile. It’s been a long 4 weeks. We were away for half term, which was awesome but I caught a very heavy cold when I got back which knocked me out for about 10 days and then have spent the last 10 days running around at work dealing with the impact of covid-19, the stock market crash and the budget.

@Karcheer I absolutely love your Chanel shoes, utterly beautiful. I love the last H&M dress link you posted too although if I remember correctly, you’re quite small like me so I don’t rate your chances of it looking goodGrin. Let me know if I am wrong!!

@Everyonelovessparkles I love that skirt. Are you a size 10? What size did you get in the skirt? I don’t want to deal with refunds either at this time. The fashion industry is about to go through a very difficult year, and it’s likely a number of brands/shops will fold later on this year. I would say to all Voguettes don’t buy anything expensive unless you absolutely love it and are quite sure on size. I am sure we will also see some very discounting.

@Themarvellousmrsm I loved Meghan’s outfits from last week but I am feeling very fashion forward because I had just bought the Me&Em jacket she’s wearing in the picture you posted before she wore it. You can’t get it for love, money or loo roll now!!

Other than that I haven’t bought anything new recently, I have continued to wear from my wardrobe. I did actually buy this Ted Baker dress a couple of months ago and I have yet to wear it at work without having at least 3 new people gush about how much they love it.

Everyonelovessparkles · 14/03/2020 08:18

caroline I got a M in the skirt which is meant to be a 10 and this fits me perfectly. There are some great Herve leger buys on the outnet at the moment! Sorry to hear you haven’t been feeling great, hopefully you’re on the mend now.

libertyonhertravels · 14/03/2020 10:30

shop what about these ones

OP posts:
libertyonhertravels · 14/03/2020 10:47

everyone I LOVE that skirt. Great buy.

Caroline good tips re purchases ATM.

I distracted myself from Covid madness today with a wardrobe clearout. I have a list now of things I need. They are:

Cream / off white trainers
Black or navy cropped wide leg trousers
Short black, navy, chocolate brown or charcoal A-line short skirt
Midi length patterned skirt in autumn shades
Sleeveless A-line knee length dress in plain dark autumn colour
Biker or hiker style ankle boots - probably in black
Leopard print block heel court style or loafer style shoes
Wool / knitted biker jacket in autumn shades preferably dark Olive green
Red wrap style dress with ruffles

Very specific!! Going to try stick to this. Research starts now.

Everyone I was contemplating the Nike ones but saw the ones Lib linked and I love the silver so have ordered them to try.
Lib I love your list. I need a distraction and am planning another declutter and sort, the news is starting to take over my brain.
I'll keep an eye out for you. There are some good boots in Anna which I'll link.

shopafrolic · 14/03/2020 12:01

these Air & Grace - a slightly softer version of a rough tough boot I thought.....

Everyonelovessparkles · 14/03/2020 14:23

Oooo those are nice shop, good find lib.

I like your idea of a list lib, I think that will reduce impulse buys (unless it’s something you / we love) and focus on what you need. I might do something similar for SS.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 14/03/2020 20:43

www.peopletree.co.uk/sale/dresses/melanie-wrap-dress-in-red-
Is this the kind of thing lib?
Those high tops are nice!c
Good advice catherine - scary times

libertyonhertravels · 15/03/2020 10:17

Those links are both fantastic shop and Bernice, exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for. I just don't dare order from abroad just now.

I'm adding a couple of shirts to my list for layering under knits. I'd like a cream or off white shirt and a Paisley or liberty print one too.

Caroline I absolutely love that Ted Baker dress-am not surprised you got a lot comments.

We were meant to be travelling to Europe tomorrow but obviously it's all cancelled now. We've had free cancellation from the hotel and now trying to minimise our transport loss-looks like we can rebook though. Have spent the last few days glued to the news but think I need a little distance and perspective now.

Am not really in the mood for shopping Shock but did buy a pair of bronze arizona's the other day

Shop I really liked the 1st pair of high tops you linked - have you find a good dupe?

Everyonelovessparkles · 15/03/2020 16:22

Sorry to hear about your holiday mrsm. We were supposed to be going to Cornwall at Easter but not sure we’ll be going now either.

When I popped into Waitrose earlier it was just like it was Christmas Eve! The queues for the tills were about 15 deep and the fruit and veg aisles had been decimated. I’m just hoping the schools can limp on till Easter, not sure how we will cope all being at home together whilst trying to work. Not sure all 4 of us will survive!

lib I realised my post made it sound like we had to appprove your purchases Blush. Obviously I didn’t mean that, I just used ‘we’ in the context of it being a god idea that I might adopt.

Though, having said that I’ve just ordered a few things from M&S that I didn’t really need. I quite like a lot of their ‘new in’. I ordered this skirt, (though would just wear it with a simple jumper or T-shirt), this dress and this top in black and cream. I also quite liked this top. Will see what it’s like when it arrives as sometimes with M&S it looks good online but not great IRL.

libertyonhertravels · 15/03/2020 23:54

Hello! Happy St Patrick's DayShock to @libertyonhertravels and any Irish lurkers.

@Everyonelovessparkles I love that M&S skirt.Smile

So I have been at home since Thursday. Spent the first 4 days consuming the news like an addict but today have had the tv/twitter/bbc news website off as have been on calls all day, which has probably been a good thing.

So my big thing at work is making every call a video call as we could all be working from home for months. So I am now into looking good on video calls while working at home which is a good distraction from the real world. So in that spirit today's ootd is this Jigsaw breton top with black pineapple trackie bottoms and slippers (no one can see waist down!) with love letter pendant over the top. Funny, how breton feels very outdated! What did anyone else working from home wear?

Keep healthy and safe x

I thought this had died!

Will read

shopafrolic · 17/03/2020 20:45

Lib they are perfect
Feels wrong to be shopping but they are lovely and the glitter will make me smile.
Flowers

shopafrolic · 18/03/2020 07:32

For anyone lusting over Grensons who is still shopping in these troubled times, they are currently offering 20% off.
For the record, I won’t be buying anymore now until this craziness has passed. Not sure how to keep MNV going? OOTD posts (mine are rubber gloves, scruffy clothes and an apron), or pics from editorial stuff?
This look caught my eye.....

shopafrolic · 18/03/2020 07:33

Anyway, sending you all a virtual hug, when this is all over we need the world’s biggest MU. I miss you all darling ladies xxx

Themarvellousmrsm · 18/03/2020 07:41

Shop this thread has been limping along for a while so will be a struggle to keep it going I think. Perhaps we should all just post pics of nice things.

Re ootd, I loved what I wore on Sat - black leather knee length skirt, mango animal print shirt, opaques and mv trainers.

Our week has gone from bad to worse-dh ended up in hospital, not a great place to be atm so all very stressful.

On the plus side, I'll be bringing ds3 home tomorrow

Themarvellousmrsm · 18/03/2020 07:44

I'll start with the pics - this is such a gorgeous spring look.

libertyonhertravels · 18/03/2020 10:25

MrsM I hope your DH is ok. Sending you a huge hug.

Shop finding the right thing for one of my MNV buddies is right up there on my list of favourite life pleasures. I'm delighted the high tops are a keeper.

I am going to do some shopping. I'm heavily involved in the Covid response and have worked 12 hour days this week and am working this weekend. I need to plan in some treats and I want to support local businesses. The plus side of working in health is that I'm unlikely to end up unemployed at least in the immediate future.

MrsM I’m so sorry I hope he is ok. Sending you a huge hug Flowers

I can’t think ahead yet but I’ll definitely be up for that vogue MU afterwards

libertyonhertravels · 18/03/2020 10:30

I really like that spring look MrsM Smile

It's autumn here. Have pulled out all the knits. When I get a bit of time I'll explain the thinking behind my list.

shopafrolic · 18/03/2020 13:40

Lib I’m wearing your old navy blue Whistles sweater today. Smile
MrsM I’m so sorry to hear about your DH. I hope he recovers soon. That’s a lovely casual Spring look.
Such a weird world to be in. I got outside today with the dog (and a friend with his dog) and it has really helped my head. DH and I snapped at each other about Corona related stuff, hard to navigate through when no-one knows what to do for the best.
One look after yourself
