Finished a mask. Well didn't finish it; slapped on as much as I could, then chucked it. Smelled too planty Naobay? Think it was from a box.

IHeartSusanDey · 15/07/2020 15:44

😂 Babyshark I had that one from a box and was kind of sick of looking at it so did the same as you...slapped it all on to use it up. I think it did make my skin a little softer, temporarily.

Makeup empty no. 4 🚮 Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector in 2N1 Nude (1 ml; GWP).

On July 30, 2019 a new formula of this tinted moisturiser was released, and many people hated it (according to the reviews on the LM’s official website). I am pretty sure the one I got was the original formula, as, according to the batch code, it was made on June 6th, 2019 (i.e. almost 2 months prior to a new formula release).

The one I’ve just finished has a sickly-sweet smell, and contains shea nut and macadamia oils which are not suitable for oily skin (so yes, it did break me out). It contains chemical SPF 30, to be specific, ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate which is potentially harmful to animals and environment. In humans it may cause allergic reactions, liver damage and endocrine disruption, so please don’t use it if you’re pregnant. It is also very streaky, does not cover imperfections well, and oxidises quickly. Without face powder, it makes my face look greasy.

Unless I was given a sachet with a new formula, I am really not sure what the hype was about 🤷‍♀️ And if what I tried was indeed the original formula, then I dread to think what a new formula must be like.

A total number of products left in the foundation category: 1 foil sachet, 1 deluxe sample and 4 full-size products.

There are a lot of ingredients in makeup and skincare that simply don’t make sense. I suspect they’re slightly cheaper than ones that do.... That one sounds bloody awful!

Experiment627 · 16/07/2020 21:45

So interesting @justilou1 about Clarins - thanks for sharing

@IHeartSusanDey neck wattle??? LOL think I have that too

I have 2 empties and a giveaway:

  • Emma Hardie purifying pink clay detox mask 20ml: quite liked this although I suspect I will not repurchase over the Elemis berry one
  • Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos glycolic night serum 30ml: really not that impressed. I think the £6 The Ordinary one does just as well, if not better
  • Tresemme Day2 foaming dry shampoo: OMG this is TERRIBLE!!!! Basically like applying oil to my already greasy roots!!! So am giving this away nearly full. My quest for a dry shampoo that actually works continues and may well get a higher end brand as a birthday treat

Used more up, and not bought anything for about a week, so im winningGrin

Fresh Caramel Sugar lip balm. Pretty pricey at £15, while it smells nice (tastes nice too) and it feels nice on the lips, i found once it sunk in my lips i needed more to keep them soft. Overpriced imo.

TBS Oils of Life intense cream. I wasnt sure on this at first, but it suprised me. Not quite HG, but its good! Its a thick cream which i like as my skin gets dry and often flaky. No dry patches with this, doesnt leave my skin looking greasy either! The scent is strong though, kind of like a naan breadGrin Id repurchase for sure!

Paulas choice retinol. Noticed a difference the next morning when i used this. I use retinol twice a week now. My skin looks smooth and bright after use. Id buy this again when ive finished a my others up. I would recommend giving it ago!

Cow shed calming shower gel & Johnsons body wash rose and watermelon- something your nan would use!

justilou1 · 17/07/2020 02:40

Laneige Grapefruit lip sleep mask. I love this stuff. I have one in my handbag, one beside the bed and one in the car. I don’t want to be without. I did try to swap to lanolips because it has an spf, but it sits on top and my lips peel underneath it. My lips seem plumper with repeated usage of this product. (Seem...)
BS Moringa yoghurt - I love the texture, but the scent was cloying. Not convinced it was as moisturizing as I remembered either. (That, or my reptilian legs have become even worse 🐊🦎🦖)

ememem84 · 17/07/2020 07:30

Used a boots tea tree and witch hazel charcoal mask - felt really soothing.

White company hand cream cassis and fig. Was ok. Probably wouldn’t re buy as if pricey for what it is. But it was a gift.

Experiment627 · 17/07/2020 08:17

Morning hoarders!

I have an empty:

  • The Body Shop skin defence multi-protection lotion spf 50: this is Holy Grail for me especially in the summer; very light.. infact have been using on Kwicklet too as the Child's Farm sun cream is an oil slick

Caggie09 · 17/07/2020 12:46

How's everyones skin coping if they have been wearing a mask? I work in retail so will be wearing one for long periods of time from Friday, im wondering if i should carry a moisturiser with me to stop my mouth area drying out? Even considering taking a mist to spritz every now and then, or am i being OTT😂

Costacoffeeplease · 17/07/2020 13:06

Lots of empties today. Liked the REN, the mally brow pencil is a staple, the others are all fine but nothing special

justilou1 · 17/07/2020 14:44

Nice work, @Costacoffeeplease! Good to see you’ve been keeping up the SPF! What do you think of the Erborian? I have been thinking about trying it, but it’s hard to track down here in Aus.

Costacoffeeplease · 17/07/2020 15:39

Thank you Smile

It was nice and did give a bit of a glow but was only really one use so it’s difficult to say

justilou1 · 17/07/2020 16:55

Thanks for the feedback... might keep researching. Have heard that’s what Trinny’s BFF is based on.

Costacoffeeplease · 17/07/2020 17:18

Oh really, I hadn’t heard of it before it came in some beauty box or the space nk gwp, not sure which

CherryMargo · 18/07/2020 16:14

Makeup empty no. 5 🚮 Givenchy Teint Couture Everwear 24h Wear & Comfort in Y210 (1 ml; GWP).

Intensely perfumed; satin finish; contains alcohol so dries up almost immediately – you literally have 5 seconds to buff it before it settles. If you have oily skin, then you’ll need blotting paper and/or face powder in about 4 hours. It also contains a nasty chemical SPF 20 (ethylhexyl methoxycinnamate, which harmful effects I spoke of in my review of Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Natural Skin Perfector above).

A total number of products left in the foundation category: 1 deluxe sample and 4 full-size products.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 18/07/2020 18:06

I've finished a full size Body Shop coconut body butter. I do really love this but won't be repurchasing, if anyone has any non MLM coconut suggestions please let me know :)

Onto more S&G righteous butter, its never ending lol

WellTidy · 18/07/2020 22:36

An empty: bare mineral skinlongevity serum 7.5ml (I think). I got it free as part of a promotion from boots about two years ago and never used it. Used it for about a month and I really like it, but I have loads of Estée Lauder advanced night repair serum minis to use up, as well as some hyaluronic acid, so I won’t repurchase. Great for a freebie though.

CornishTiger · 19/07/2020 07:02

@Experiment627 have you tried the moo goo dry shampoo. It’s a powder but an aerosol? Free delivery at the mo for that item.

I’m using percy and reed dry shampoo which I like.

IHeartSusanDey · 19/07/2020 07:23

I finished Aurelia morning. I bought it after reading some really positive reviews from posters here when it appeared in the Liberty Advent calendar. I do a lot of hiking so need a strong deodorant/anti perspirant. It was ok...smelled really good but I didn't find it that effective and still sweated quite a bit. I think the Malin and Goetz deodorant is superior.

Experiment627 · 19/07/2020 08:29

@Caggie09 I really feel for you - I have only worn for short period and basically it gets hot and humid and my glasses steam up!
Wonder if the extra sweatage will help reduce my double chin?

@CornishTiger thanks for the recommendation - will look into that immediately!

Great progress ladies!!!

Kwicklet loves playing with the contents of my make up bag... all of the stuff in there is pretty old so I think I will just keep that for his enjoyment and start a new bag with stuff from my stash!

Just finished my sample of Kiehl's Creme de Corps. Had to cut it open to get it all out. I liked it as it was quite rich but not enough to repurchase. Has absolutely no scent that I can tell so would suit someone who likes fragrance free.

Experiment627 · 20/07/2020 10:23

Some more empties here!!!

  • Superdrug Procare Whitening removable strips: not very expensive... I think my teeth are a bit whiter - but I reckon you did twice a day for 14 days with no break then you would get much better results
  • PS naturals balm to oil cleanser: actually ok - this is a Primark product. But basically not hard to go wrong as this is coconut oil based. It melted down easily and came off easily.
  • Avene Hydrance Riche: I bought this as I felt my skin needed some loving a few months ago. It definitely hydrates but I do not like the smell... did not really enjoy using.

Hope you all have a great week!

Elemis Neroli cleansing balm. When this crops up on QVC in a bundle ill repurchase! Would also like to try the new AHA cleansing butter they have too!

Bodyshop Banana body butter. Everyone loves a BS body butter right?

Charlotte Tilbury wonderglow, once ive used up all my primers im still unsure if i should bother with one or not?

Patchology lip mask. Wouldnt bother buying a lip mask again, used it before going out!

A clay mask for you bum cheeks! I got this from LiB as abit of a laugh product. My partner did say "Why's your bum so soft?" I didnt want to admit id used a mask on it though. Even with that feedback, it wont be something i add into my routine!

CherryMargo · 22/07/2020 07:37

Empties no. 33 & 34 🚮 Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Serum Complexion Correcting (1 ml + 10 ml; GWP).

White colour, runny consistency, classic Caudalie green grape scent, absorbs fast. Although it contains a chemical fragrance and a rather harsh preservative, sodium hydroxide, it did not irritate my skin. A 1 ml sample provided 3 applications and a 10 ml one was enough for 24 applications.

The brand claims that this serum is ‘62 times more effective than vitamin C at boosting radiance and evening the complexion’. I didn’t see any improvement in my pigmentation (maybe I need much more than those 27 applications that I managed to squeeze out of my samples 🤷‍♀️), but I can confirm that my skin looked more even and radiant immediately after application, and the effect lasted for 48 hours.

A total number of products left in the face oil / serum category: 5 foil sachets, 5 deluxe samples and 6 full-size products. Fingers crossed, I use most of them up before they expire! 🤞
