Hi, please can I join? I'm a makeup/beauty product hoarder - I just can't stop buying new releases. promised myself to shop my stash and only repurchase when I NEED something and go off others recommendations. Hoping this group of lovely ladies can help me do just that!
x

Costacoffeeplease · 26/06/2020 13:06

Welcome @mrsssk just watch out, we’re terrible enablers 😄

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/06/2020 13:25

mrs start by going through everything , if there's anything sealed that you want to keep , put it at the back .
Anything sealed that you don't want can be donated .
Take photos if you like to inspire you Grin
Anything open - check it hasn't seperated , gone 'off' colour changed .
Mascara over 3 months should go out anyway .
Throw out anythng off or change the way you use it .
I bought SteamCream (vegan, cruelty free , lovely tin...........smells of lavender which I cannot abide . Couldn't use on my face or hands so diverted it to my feet ...and kept the empty tin,

If there's something you're meh about , think why you bought it . What did it promise you ? Was it a new thing, a BOGOF , or were you searching for the elusive Holy Grail .

I sort out the bathroom clutter and line up everything with a couple of uses in , everyone has to finish and recycle these first .

There will things you want to re buy (maybe when there's a special offer? )

Good Luck

mrsssk · 26/06/2020 14:47

Thank you for the advice! I saw a few people categorised everything they had in a particular product type so will start off with that and go through everything.

Pretty sure I have mascaras more than 3 months old... they're definitely the first to go then!

@justilou1

Another empty! Thought I’d better take the photo before I cut the tube to scrape out what’s left. (Yes, it’s a good one, or I CBA.) Curel Make-up Removing Gel. It’s an oil-based gel cleanser that emulsifies. Like a gel-balm hybrid. Removes EVERYTHING! Doesn’t sting eyes or leave a greasy film that leaves you blind for half an hour. It emulsifies quickly and easily, is scentless and ceramide-rich. Travels well. Would love to buy another, but seems sold out everywhere in Australia. Bastards!
YesStyle have it in stock if they ship there?
WellTidy · 26/06/2020 16:33

Thanks ememem that’s a proper moisturiser not like the dramatically differents that I have! I find the DDs quite thin and I don’t find that they moisturiser as well. Will slather on my neck and chest to use them up when the time comes.

justilou1 · 26/06/2020 18:43

YesStyle have it, but it’s twice the price, plus shipping.... PLUS currently things are sitting in quarantine on the docks in Sydney for MONTHS. (Still awaiting a parcel delivery that arrived in the country on May 5th and hasn’t cleared quarantine facility yet! 😡)

Caggie09 · 26/06/2020 19:24

Sanctuary 1 minute glow mask. This was a weird texture, couldnt put it on my face without it falling off. Didnt really like it, it did make my skin glow though. Could just be sweat from the heat thoughHmm

Rodial VIT C sheet mask. I really enjoyed it, the serum worked well on top of my other products. If it was to cross my path again, i would snap it up!

Ven Effect pore cleanser 15ml. I had two of these, so 30ml of product to use up. This is near the £50 mark. It's not worth that price imo, smells nice and my skin feels clean after use. Reminds me of the Simple face wash in the green bottle.

Oh. That's a shame.

I just chucked a Bad Gal Lash full size. Wasn't sure how old but it was getting claggy and I have some sealed ones to start on when I got a selection box from Sephora. Also a Boots essentials eye make up remover pads. Ds1 took the mickey when I bought 6 of these just before lockdown but 1.50 each and on 3 for 2??? No brainer.

But also stocked up on Rituals shower gels as they had a sale on and also got some from Feelunique with my 10% favourites discount, plus a free gift of the samurai stuff for my son. Still in major credit in my bank, plus £450 shoved in my savings. First time in years I haven't had to dip into overdraft, so I'm happy with the occasional splurge.

IHeartSusanDey · 26/06/2020 19:31

Hi everyone. Is it ok if I join in? I absolutely adore beauty products but have way too many! So I am trying to use them up. Today I finished my Nivea firming Body Lotion - I really liked it, especially the smell - and The Body Shop Drops of Youth Serum. I got that in an advent calendar and was rushing through it to get rid of it really as i have gone right off them since they trolled JKR. Although...I really rated it as a serum.

mrsssk · 27/06/2020 23:05

Yesterday I finally finished an industrial size Head and Shoulders that DH thought would be a good idea to pick up in Costco circa what feels like 5 years ago. Now opened a Moogoo milk shampoo and it's a big thumbs up so far!
Unsure if it's because it's actually nice or because I'm just grateful for a different shampoo after so long 😅

Also received my tarte custom kit in the post today after ordering before my self imposed spending ban, can't wait to try it all!

CornishTiger · 28/06/2020 00:08

@mrsssk glad you are liking the moo goo shampoo. I have just opened mine after spending time trying to use up other shampoos. It’s silly really as moo goo is only one that doesn’t irritate me. Ditching the rest/ passing onto daughter now.

Used up a mini sized perfect and protect. Had it years. Got a full sized one to finish too. It’s ok. Nothing amazing tbh.

Still working my way through the moisturisers and cleansers I identified as needing to use up at beginning of lockdown. They are going on forever. I want a change!

CornishTiger · 28/06/2020 00:14

Used up Dionis Roseberry Goat Milk Hand Cream. Once I have finished others I’ll repurchase.

Costacoffeeplease · 28/06/2020 08:19

Hi @IHeartSusanDey Welcome, and good luck using up your beauty stash 😄

Costacoffeeplease · 28/06/2020 09:14

Some empties

Full size This Works pillow spray, don’t know if it works but keep getting it in beauty boxes so I use it up anyway

Decleor Baume de nuit in lavender. Quite a strong smell and didn’t absorb well, or maybe I use too much, but I wouldn’t buy it again

From Space nk - Briogeo Farewell Frizz leave in conditioner. I don’t have frizzy hair but used it on washed hair as a styling product, it was fine but nothing special, maybe different if you have a frizz problem
Omorovicza Moor Cream Cleanser - quite muddy consistency but did the job

LivingDeadGirlUK · 28/06/2020 12:50

I used the small Elemis berry boost face mask I got in the Amazon calander last night and wow it really made my face feel fab. Will look to reputchase as thats my last face mask!

justilou1 · 28/06/2020 13:08

L’Oreal Pureology Hydrasheer shampoo & conditioner all done. I have very tricky hair. It’s more like cat hair than human hair and I have a very sensitive scalp. Unfortunately most things aimed at fine hair dry it out, and most things for sensitive scalps weigh it down. (And smell like zombie excretions...) This stuff smells lovely and fresh, doesn’t weigh it down or irritate my scalp! I shelled out for the salon-sized bottles!
I also used up a gigantic bottle of Dermaveen shower and bath oil (I only use it in the shower.) It contains colloidal oatmeal which helps soothe dry, itchy, menopausal skin. (It’s winter here in Aus, but it’s not exactly freezing where I live atm - still around 20’C during the daytime.) It smells a bit like marzipan, and you’re left with an oily, marzipany sludge at the end, if you don’t shake it very thoroughly prior to each use. I will probably repurchase, or maybe La Roche Posay oil, depending which is cheaper at the time. (Tbh, LRP doubles as great makeup removing oil, so may choose that one.)

IHeartSusanDey · 28/06/2020 14:08

Thank you Costa.Smile I am going to keep ploughing through it and see if any miracles happen to my face!

Today I used up a Filorga Lifting Serum. I really like Filorga as a brand but I don't think this particular serum did anything at all.

I also finished Elemis Marine Collagen Cream. It was nice and the smell reminded me of that old Wings perfume, but I don't think I will repurchase. It didn't live up to the hype IMO.

Sportycustard · 28/06/2020 16:45

Two empties here. Firstly a large tub of E45 which I have already replaced. I use this as an intensive moisturiser for very dry skin that I occasionally get on my arms and legs. Second empty is a John Frieda volumising root spray which I really liked. Non sticky but definitely seems to add volume without weighing my hair down.

Caggie09 · 28/06/2020 17:53

Simple Micellar water. Just a change from the usual Nivea and Garnier. Id get it again if on offer.

Original source lime shower gel. Im late to the party, ive never used these shower gels. Quite watery and i found it boring. I have one other one, once gone ill avoid.

Urban Veda Purifying facial wash sachets. The scents almost like a Vicks vapour scent. It cleared my throat and nose when i was lathering it in. Unsure if i love it or hate.. Id maybe try a full size in the future, if i remember Grin

Patchology Chill eye gels. I popped these in the fridge, nice and cooling especially when its been hot! My under eyes looked abit meh after sleepless nights. Not sure they do much, but ill always have some in!

Needed a new brow pencil/gel so popped into Superdrug yesterday as they had BOGOF on makeup. Bought Barry M duo pencil and another pink nail polish. Was going to stop there, but while queuing i picked up 2 superdrug shower gels and the Vitamin E body creams. I do love the scent of the VitE stuff, but i didnt need it! Came to £14, but still i wasnt meant to not buy!!

WellTidy · 28/06/2020 22:55

Finally an Empty. 50ml occitane almond body moisturiser. Absolutely loved this, a close rival to Rituals Sakura body soufflé as my HG body cream. Won’t replace as I have maybe 16 more body moisturisers in the stash (some full size 400ml jobbies) which is a shame.

IHeartSusanDey I am a huge, huge LA Law fan and as a kid basically wanted to be Grace Van Owen when I grew up. I used to watch episodes over and over on VHS. She made a big impression on me in my early teens. Fancied her on screen boyfriend something chronic and basically wanted heir relationship, but seeing him very recently on a reality tv show well and truly burst my bubble —about time really—.

Thinking of chucking my 30ml/g Egyptian Magic Cream. It has a massive cult following and I feel that I am missing several tricks as to me it is basically Vaseline. Anyone like it?

Sportycustard · 29/06/2020 08:14

One empty today - L'oreal Age Perfect night cream. Still don't know if I like this. Seemed to deliver good hydration but I felt like it just sat on my skin and as though it was still there in the morning. Won't repurchase yet as I have another brand night cream to work through yet but I don't think I'd rule out buying it again.

IHeartSusanDey · 29/06/2020 15:46

WellTidy I completely agree with you. I have a massive obsession with Susan Dey. Started with Laurie Partridge then Grace Van Owen, and all the movies she made like Skyjacked, Comeback Kid, Looker and Mary Jane Harper. I love her look and how she played her characters. I feel some kind of an affinity with her...her struggles with an ED and alcoholism, and her activism as well. I just love and adore her.

And I know what you mean about Hamlin..I saw him too in RHOBH married to that awful Lisa. Crush killed, just like that!🤣

WellTidy · 29/06/2020 15:55

IHeartSusanDey I've never 'met' anyone who loved LA Law and Grace as much as I do/did. How fantastic. I have watched a few of her interviews on US talk shows from the late 80s and she seemed lovely. I am gobsmacked about the direct Harry Hamlin has taken recently as I thought he was a super private chap. Nothing like the imaginary world that I'd created for him!

Anyway, I digress!

Another empty - I am trying to make more room on the bathroom cupboard so I've sprayed the last of my random second can of Impulse everywhere. Will not replace, despite it being quite nice and very cheap, but I don't need any body sprays or room sprays!

Caggie09 · 29/06/2020 20:48

Aldi LBM body lotion. Like how the scent lingered until the next day, made my skin nice and soft. Only thing is the packaging is super awkward trying to get the last of the product out. My BS body butters arrived today, so one out, two in!
