@CherryMargo - understand completely. Have been led astray many times by reviews. (Dermalogica cleanser, I’m looking at you, you useless bastard!)

justilou1 · 09/05/2020 23:56

Yes to cheese, btw... totally my crack!!! 🧀🧀🧀

ememem84 · 10/05/2020 12:24

White company shower gel gone.

And a box of neon pink Schwarzkopf semi permenant dye.

justilou1 · 10/05/2020 13:39

Small (30ml) pot of Glow Recipe Watermelon Sleeping Mask. It’s okay, but I prefer the Laneige or Innisfree hydrating ones. Again, it’s another Haribo scent but this time it’s left on overnight, and it’s quite sickly and headachey for me. Suspect a younger crowd would love this product.

Caggie09 · 10/05/2020 18:41

Cult51 Night cream 20ml.
Its £125 for a 50ml pot, so i was looking foward to seeing what results id get. Has good reviews online, unless im missing something, its really not worth the money and i didnt notice anything drastic.. The scents fairly strong and you can sometimes get whiffs of it on your face when trying to sleep. Didnt trigger any eczema though and didnt irritate my face so thats a positive. On the reviews people said it takes redness away, i have quite red cheeks amd large pores, and it did nothing for my redness.. maybe i used it wrong?!👀 I think you could something similar for a fraction of the price

Sportycustard · 10/05/2020 23:26

Two empties today!

Clinique Take the day off cleanser. Love this product...but not the price. Periodically I buy other things because, surely, there must be something just as good but less spendy out there? Then I always go back to this one as this always does the job and always feels amazing. I should just accept that I am forever going to have to spend ££££££ on this one. I have five other cleansers to use up though so I am determined to resist the lure of the clinique!

The other empty is a body shop shea butter body butter. This has lasted forever it seems it's been good for persistent dry skin on my heels and shins. I would repurchase but I already have two other body butters to use up.

justilou1 · 10/05/2020 23:34

@Sportycustard - try Curel Makeup Cleansing Gel. It’s a Japanese product recommended by Nadine Baggott. Cheap as chips. It’s actually an oily balm first cleanser and it’s non-scented. When used with a cloth it takes everything off. It’s more liquid than an actual balm so easier to work around, but emulsifies beautifully. Doesn’t irritate at all. Takes eye makeup off without leaving dreaded filmy view. Love it. Have two more ordered.

Costacoffeeplease · 11/05/2020 11:46

A few more small empties
Philip Kingsley elasticizer- I use this often and have a supersize one in the cupboard
Aurelia cell repair night oil - this felt nice and skin was really smooth in the morning, but again have lots of night products to get through
Filorga meso mask - just one use so not sure if it did anything
Sensai absolute silk cream - really nice consistency and sinks in nicely

IPokeBadgers · 11/05/2020 18:49

Finished a full size loccitane rose Shea handcream....really liked it and might repurchase in future if I can get a good price
Like so many of my "luxury" brand items, it had been part of a QVC TSV.... probably at least two years ago! It was the last of three tubes and each one lasted for ages....

No immediate repurchase as still have a lot of handcream on the house, although using a lot currently due to increased levels of handwashing.

taydex · 11/05/2020 22:53

Rummaging through my stash at the weekend I found a load of random miniatures so decided to start on them in an attempt to get myself a bit more motivated for this. So far have used up an Elemis white lotus and lime bath and shower gel (which smelt gross), a random (hotel I think) shampoo (meh, didn't even lather properly), 2 Boots No7 beautiful skin face moisturisers (I am a No7 addict so will get more when done using up more of my stash), and a lovely Champneys manicure miracle softening scrub (would def buy again, felt lovely)

taydex · 11/05/2020 23:04

Oops. Also used up last 2 biore strips. I'm slightly addicted to these so will buy more but trying to hold off till I have made a bit more of a dent in my stash as I know I won't just buy those!

Also finished off a No7 protect & perfect intense advanced nourishing hand & nail treatment. This is a go to hand cream for me so I will probably buy more but I have so many half used hand creams stashed about the house I will try to use some of those up first.

Also found a nice gift box of Molton Brown mini bath/shower gels I forgot I bought myself aaaages ago so using those as a bit of a treat to encourage me to use stuff up.

justilou1 · 12/05/2020 06:18

I just found another pot of bloody watermelon Haribo sleeping mask. I think I will give it to DD1 for her bday. I can’t see myself using it again. (My chin is peely today.)

Caggie09 · 12/05/2020 18:44

I have a pot of the Haribo mask to use up Justilou1, ill be giving it ago in the coming weeks!

Finished up a BareMinerals serum. Ive had 3 of these now, and i really dont think it does much?! I used it as a day time serum. I dont know how i feel about makeup brands doing skincare.. All 3 came from advents, so hopefully they've stopped doing the rounds!

Korres Wild Rose sleeping mask. Its either from an m&s advent a few years ago or a LF one, again from years ago.. I do like this, and i do think in the morning my skin looks better and feels nice and soft. Im not sure id repurchase it as im never sure where a "night mask" would slot into my routine and in the past i used this every night and it made my skin sensitive. Ive never heard a bad thing said about it either!

DukeOfEarlGrey · 12/05/2020 21:11

I’ve finished enough stuff in lockdown to make guilt free new purchases!

Today I finished a full pot of Aesop hand cream that I got for Christmas 3 years ago - result.

Caggie09 · 13/05/2020 17:24

Im still waiting for the SpaceNK GWP to go live, i even dreamt about it last night🙈 Must indicate i have a problem with products😂

Sephora Banana cream mask. This smells sooo good. I imagine the fragrance is not helping my skin, but i do love the smell.
I think the thing is with Sephora and shops that arent readily available to us in the UK, when you are in one you just go wild because we dont have one. Id probably buy the mask again or in another scent if im ever in another store "just because"🙈

CherryMargo · 13/05/2020 23:21

Empties no. 22 & 23 🚮

L'Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil Miracle Hair Perfector (3.5 ml; GWP) expired on May 21, 2017 🤢 Can be used as a conditioning treatment / mask or as a styling product. I used it as a leave-in conditioner (3.5 ml was only enough for one application), it absorbed almost instantly, and left my hair soft and shiny. The product description mentions ‘a precious blend of 6 flower extracts’, so I’m not sure why there’s still a synthetic fragrance amongst its ingredients.

L'Oréal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil Nutrition Balm Mask (10 ml; GWP) expired on December 1, 2018 (as I mentioned before, I don't really enjoy at home hair care, so it takes ages to get through this type of products). This sample provided 3 applications. It has the same fragrance (and the same ‘6 precious flower extracts’) but it is a thick cream, not oil. I applied it for 3 minutes as recommended in the instructions. It washes off very easily (unlike some other hair masks I tried in the past), and the scent and softness lingered till the next wash.

A total number of products left in the hair mask category: 4 deluxe samples and 1 full-size product.

@justilou1 will look for your cleanser recommendation thanks.

Another cleanser finished this evening- superfacialist oil. Was ordered on a supermarket shop (Ahhh remember those days when supermarket slots were ten a penny and you could even sometimes get one for the next day...those were the days...). Not that impressed as it wasn't good with even modest amounts of eye make up. Felt ok. Probably wouldn't repurchase.

Still have 2 partial cleansing products and three new cleansing products so won't be buying any time soon.

justilou1 · 14/05/2020 01:19

Check out Nadine Baggott - she can tell you where to buy Curel in the UK. (Bet it’s much cheaper than here....) She was also talking about their ceramide serum or essence the other day. That sounds fabulous too. I’m loving this Curel balm. No filmy eyes, gets my mascara and industrial-strength sunscreen off (and I often layer iT Cosmetics CC cream over that as well, so that’s a double-whammy.) I will definitely repurchase.

Experiment627 · 14/05/2020 08:36

@Sportycustard I want this cleanser too!!!!!

Well done everyone on all the empties!!!

I have 3 to share:

  • Star Wars bath & shower gel 400ml: as I do lockdown with my mum I have set myself the goal of depleting her stash too
  • Yves Rocher anti-perspirant Almond roll-on: too "wet" and not a strong enough almond smell for me
  • Leti At4 facial: recommended for Kwicklet's eczema but made it worse... used up on my legs

Empty no. 24 🚮 Oh K! Hydrating Gold Gel Lip Mask (8 g; GWP) expired on January 15, 2020.

Something to keep in mind when it comes to purchases from feelunique is that their sales products and GWPs usually expire within a couple of months after you receive them (and twice I received products which had already expired 😳). This mask came with a purchase on December 2, 2019, so I had six weeks to use it. It would be ‘Oh K!’ if I had no other lip care products in my stash, and it is my hoarding to blame that I couldn't get to it earlier. But I would still prefer to receive products which are not on their last legs IYSWIM.

As for the mask itself, it did hydrate my lips and left no sticky residue. However, I had to keep pressing the patch firmly against my lips for the whole recommended duration (20 minutes) as it refused to stay put. It smells of honey thanks to honey and propolis extracts. The gold nanoparticles that the brand has proudly emphasised in the name of this mask sit at the very end of the ingredients list, which means gold probably makes up less than 0.5% of the formula 🙄 Other active ingredients include Chinese peony, gotukola and camomile.

I wouldn’t mind using it again if I get it as a GWP, but I'd never pay the full price for it (i.e. £3.50).

A total number of products left in the lip mask / balm category: 2 samples and 2 full-size products.

Andalou Naturals Hyaluronic & DMAE Lift & Firm Cream. Love this stuff. Does it lift and firm as promised? Ehhhh.... It's very light and very hydrating. It has such a gorgeous texture that I'll kind of forgive it anything. It's a dead-ringer for the mega-expensive DE Protini Moisturiser, but it's MUCH better and about a quarter of the price, so this is the third pot I have scraped clean and I have another going already. I love it's creamy, whipped texture that feels like it turns to water the moment it applies to your skin. It actually feels like it's doing "something" rather than sitting on top. It seems to bring serums further into the skin when I use it. ( *Please note: Objective observation, not scientific evidence!)

I am reluctant to recommend products as I live in Australia and don't know about availability. I love Nadine Baggott's advice re- double-cleansing. She doesn't think you need to spend a bomb on cleansers as you simply wash them off. Am in complete agreement. Save your money for the active ingredients - the things you are leaving on your face to actually penetrate and have some effect! (Although as I live in Australia, I also believe in spending a little bit more to have decent sunscreen that doesn't mess up your makeup and fantastic sunglasses with recognised optical SPF as well!)

Costacoffeeplease · 16/05/2020 14:06

A few empties, a Liz Earle superskin moisturiser, which was much thicker than the standard moisturiser. I used it as a body lotion as I had still run out

A benefit Roller lash mascara, more in the stash

Elemis pro collagen marine oxygenating night cream, nice consistency and skin feels smooth in the morning.

justilou1 · 17/05/2020 02:40

Giant can of Klorane oat dry shampoo done and dusted. (Very dusted!) *Covid Hair has been standard messy cowpat bun. It’s the only dry shampoo that doesn’t make my scalp itchy AF.
