Shay and blue white peach perfume from the M&S advent calendar finished today

IPokeBadgers · 14/02/2020 19:32

Finished an Elemis handcream....sweet orchid. It was a few years old and had lost its fragrance so was glad to finish it off. Not sure if elemis still make it or not, but I wouldn't repurchase it anyway....

cravingthelook · 14/02/2020 22:35

@CantChoose

Yes that's me 😛

Caggie09 · 16/02/2020 18:18

My skins been playing up because ive been super lazy with my skincare. Feels good to get back on track!

BodyShop Japanese camellia body cream. 50ml, so tiny little pot. I slather on body cream so only got two uses put of it, i enjoyed it. Sunk in quickly, and smells lovely. Dont think i like it that much to repurchase though..

111skin rose gold sheet mask. I think these are really effective, think i have four left. But Caroline Hirons reckons sheet masks should be left in 2019👀 Dont think i could give them up!

Sephora lavander foot mask. Used this up because i seen a PP used some and it reminded me to use mine upGrin. Cheap enough and my feet did feel soft. Think any old pair would do the trick though..

Ole Henrikson Phat Glow facial. I loved the toner from this range, i like this mask too. My makeup looks better after ive used this, doesnt break me out and doesnt dry my skin out. I wouldnt say no if i came across it again

Also been watching Cult Beauty GWP videos because im bitter i didnt get the last one, and i have a list in my head of products i want. So toying with idea of getting the next one, even though i have plenty!!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/02/2020 21:33

Molton Brown Orange & Bergamont 100ml showergel finished (I really like this and plan to buy a big size once I find a good offer ). I was using this for nice days to make it last .

BodyShop Pink Grapefruit (used on bog standard days Grin )

CherryMargo · 17/02/2020 17:58

Waving goodbye to three deluxe samples 🚮 I got them as a GWP back in September 2019. It was my first time using La Mer products, so I was excited to see what all the hype is about.

  1. La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Cream (3.5 ml) – broke me out every single time I used it, which was kinda expected 🙄 because this cream is full of mineral oil and shea butter.
  1. La Mer The Moisturizing Cool Gel Cream (3.5 ml) – this one is formulated for combination/oily skin, and contains no mineral oil and no shea butter, so it worked much better for me; if not for alcohol denat, hormone disrupting silicones and synthetic fragrance, it could be just as good as Clinique Moisture Surge 72-Hour Auto-Replenishing Hydrator which costs…. £53 less for the jar of the same size!
  1. La Mer Treatment Lotion (5 ml) – now this is a different story – it is literally a miracle in the bottle! 🤩 It moisturises and plumps my skin better than any other lotion I’ve ever tried, and seems to help serums/creams that I put on top of it work better. I was considering trying Botox injections later this year but there’s no need, as I see no fine lines anymore 😲 I just wish La Mer did not use so much synthetic fragrance in their products (BTW all three samples had exactly the same delicate scent).
Caggie09 · 17/02/2020 19:07

@CherryMargo would you splash out on La Mer products then? Id prefer if i didnt see miracles with them as id begrudge repurchasing everytime i ran out🙈

A santa bubble bar from Lush. The bubbles didnt last so long with this one, lovely citrus scent.

Dream Cream from Lush again. Two uses out of this pot, i like it. I cant get past the smell though.. probably wouldnt repurchase. Would like to try other creams from Lush though, one with a nice scent though!

Moonstone Body Scrub from TKMaxx, probably an indie brand from the US. Salt scrub is a no go for me.. Had a small cut on my hand which i discovered when using this scrub. Skin is smooth though, so thats a positive. Think i have 5/6 more scrubs in my stash!

JayDot500 · 17/02/2020 19:27

Such a cool thread. Just yesterday I bought some highlighters because the superdrug employee told me it'd brighten up my face if I decided to have make up free days. So bought some drops and powder. They are in danger of being hoarded, so those are my targets. I've no idea how to apply them yetGrin

I've got some Vera Wang perfume DH bought me. I can't stand the smell of it, need to figure out how to use it up...

CherryMargo · 17/02/2020 20:58

@Caggie09 out of three, only the Treatment Lotion blew me away. I still have other lotions to use up first, so I will wait for Black Friday sales to buy it.

Plus, many reviewers say that a 150 ml bottle is enough for almost TWO years of daily use, and – coincidentally – the product itself expires 24 months after opening, so even at its full price it is still much much cheaper than Botox injections which only last 3-6 months!

Experiment627 · 18/02/2020 08:49

@WellTidy you are certainly on a roll!!!
What is the Egyptian cream like? What does it do?

@cravingthelook darling Dragon we need more photos!!!!

@CherryMargo I am so not impressed by Creme de la Mer - so expensive and then shite on the skin!!!

I have quite a few empties!!!

  • Vichy deodorant (the one with the aqua marine top: I have used before, works but I am way too sweaty for a 48 hour stretch
  • Laura Ashley Olive & Italian Lemon hand cream: meh
  • Drunk Elephant Beste No 9 Jelly Cleanser: perfectly nice but way too expensive for a facial wash
  • Nivea in-shower moisturiser: Holy Grail for me
  • Nivea shower cream: adore the smell and nice to have a match to the body "lotion"
  • Aveeno Baby soothing relief body wash: bought for Kwicklet but up until now I have jist bathed him with water - well since I realised that the stuff I got from the Dr was actually making his eczema worse! His eczema is loads better now - I am going to try some Child's Farm again.

Off to raid my stash!

You’re all such an inspiration! I have so much beauty stuff hoarded!

Tonight, I’m going to go through all my stash and sort them into categories and take photos, mine is mainly skincare.

I’ve got some advent calendar items that are unopened/sealed that I’m happy to give away, just the cover of postage costs really, which would only be a pound or two I reckon.

I also have an unopened tube of tret I bought in Spain the last time I was there, it is sealed, unopened and has an expiry of December 2020. It is the brand retirides and is the 0.1%. I’m on the 0.025 at the moment and I have the 0.05 that I will work up to, so I won’t make it to the 0.1% before December this year. Does anyone want this? I paid about £24 for this from the chemist in Spain, so would be looking to sell for £25, to cover my postage.

You’ve all inspired me to get through my hoard!

RiskIt4Biscuit · 18/02/2020 10:10

I’ve finally finished a big bottle of Cerave foaming cleanser.
It was fine, but I prefer Cetaphil which I will go back to once I have checked and used whatever cleansers may be lurking in my stash (hopefully none).

Did buy some makeup and skincare at the airport at the weekend. Oops.

Experiment627 · 18/02/2020 16:26

@RiskIt4Biscuit don't worry.. airport purchases do not count Grin

OP posts:
RiskIt4Biscuit · 18/02/2020 17:10

Oh that's a relief!

We (my 13-month old and I) flew back to the UK Sunday evening, after our flight being delayed for 2 hours. BA were giving us vouchers (to use in the airport there and then) so got a Dior lip glow for £1 which was the highlight of the trip home.

Also got one of the new Dior concealers and and Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream, but that was before the vouchers, but bought during the airport's happy hour with an additional 20% off beauty products.

CherryMargo · 18/02/2020 23:42

I have the first beauty tool ‘empty’ of 2020! 🚮

Models Own eyelash curler which I bought for £6 back in 2013. The spring mechanism broke as I was using it on my right eye earlier today, and it took a few seconds to set my lashes free from its fatal grip 😨

The curler had a very thick silicone pad and big cushioned handles which made it very easy to grip my eyelashes without over squeezing. Unfortunately, it wasn’t wide enough for me, and the curve was not perfect for my eye shape either. I would not re-purchase, but it has been discontinued anyway.

I have two more eyelash curlers in my stash, so now I’m onto Sure Manicure soft grip curler which I’ve had since 2012 but stopped using because its stainless steel jaws ripped through the TPE pad that it came with in practically no time. I will remove a silicone pad from the Models Own curler and insert it into the Sure Manicure one, but silicone is significantly less resistant to abrasion than TPE, and maybe it’s not going to be long till I give up and move onto the curler no. 3!

WellTidy · 19/02/2020 08:43

Experiment here is the Egyptian Magic cream (I hope). I got mine in the 2018 Liberty advent calendar and am only just getting to it. It is a multi purpose cream - skin, hair mask, shaving balm, eye cream etc. I am using it as a body moisturiser, but it seems to have a cult following. Its hard to describe - it has many natural ingredients but the main ingredient is olive oil. You're supposed to warm it in your palms and them use it. I think it is fine, and I will use it, but I wouldn't buy it. I am going to use it as a body moisturiser and I think there are better moisturisers than this. A little does go a long way.

I have another empty - a sheet mask. Wasn't difficult to use up!

Costacoffeeplease · 19/02/2020 11:16

A few empties today, Fresh black tea kombucha facial treatment essence. A small malin & goetz advanced renewal cream, probably from the Harrods advent calendar, and dermalogica pre-cleanse all of which I like and my face feels really soft and smooth. Not sure which one caused it though!

Caggie09 · 19/02/2020 20:28

BioEffect Micellar water. Didnt irritate my eyes, took my makeup off nicely. With finishing this off i purchased a Simple Micellar water today. Need to finish a Body Shop one off first though.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 19/02/2020 22:57

One more from me. Lacura night cream. Supposed to be a dupe for the M&S one, but nope. Started on the M&S one I had waiting in the wings.

RiskIt4Biscuit · 20/02/2020 15:49

Finished a Mac Mineralize Skinfinish Natural. This is one of the really old ones in the old packaging without the mirror. It is going in the pile of items to Back 2 Mac.

I’ve really liked this one, and bought a new one while travelling when I forgot this old one at home, but then stopped using it for some reason.

I still have the newer one, but not sure I would repurchase now.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 21/02/2020 09:07

I finished a loriel BB cream. It was nice and light on my skin but a tad light. Not as nice as Garnier.

I'm now finishing up my Missa one but it I'm finding it a bit greasey around my T zone. My nose is very shiney and slick, I guess I need to use powder in that area too.

Also finished a Boots No 7 mascara, moving onto one of the many Elizabeth Arden ones in my stash.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 21/02/2020 11:41

Thats Missha BB cream #fatfingers

RiskIt4Biscuit · 21/02/2020 14:55

Finished a mini version (3.5g) of the Laura Mercier Translucent loose setting powder.

I love this powder and I have a larger luxury sample/travel size as well as a full size in my stash already, but will definitely buy again.

This tiny size was a little bit too small for my usual brush, but was so handy for travelling and my makeup bag when out.
It lasted ages as well - a normal size of this usually lasts a good year or so for me.

CherryMargo · 21/02/2020 15:36

Empty no. 12 🚮 Sephora Beach Vibes Nourishing Shower Balm (150 ml; £3.59). The bottle is cute, the scent is divine, and the texture is rich and creamy. It takes a long time to use up, because with sodium laureth sulfate being its main ingredient even a small droplet creates a lot of foam. Fortunately, I managed to use it up three months prior to its expiry date.

A total number of products left in the body cleanser category: 4 full-size products.
