Re the Oranje's Christmas card, I can't work out whether the look on Wax's face is relief (thank goodness I haven't got to wear a ridiculous get up like the girls) or a look of it's not fair (why do the girls get to wear the nice colourful dresses & I have to be the boring one in beige) Crown Grin

JayAlfredPrufrock · 26/12/2019 22:13

I agree. 10 minutes of meet and greet is pay back for the privilege.

Wouldn’t put mine through it, but then again I don’t have to.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 26/12/2019 23:11

William and Kate never seem to spend Xmas at Buckleberry now. Not sure why not. The whole fiasco must be such a drag. All the protocol and stuffiness. I don’t understand why Edward and Sophie are always there. Doesn’t Sophie want to spend it with her family sometimes?

TooleyVanDooley · 26/12/2019 23:16

Sophie’s dad has gone to Sandringham since her mum died hasn’t he?

Sophie and the Queen seem to be genuinely close. It’s only on MN that all MILs are automatically evil. Mine’s lovely.

megletthesecond · 26/12/2019 23:33

I didn't realise that Sophie had an ectopic pregnancy before she had Louise, and then that birth was extremely rough. She went through a lot.

iknowimcoming · 27/12/2019 00:07

Poor pippa - I'd give a limb or two for her body but I still wouldn't want my bikini pics on newspaper front pages largely because my sister married a prince, such an intrusion clearly done with long lenses Sad

BettyBooJustDoinTheDoo · 27/12/2019 00:53

Carol looks fabulous in her bikini!

DuchessofWoke · 27/12/2019 01:15

Those Middleton women have iron discipline. I wonder how many mince pies have passed their lips this Christmas?

Rhubarbisevil · 27/12/2019 07:17

Precisely zero woke - zero. Just lobster, green salad and olive oil.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 27/12/2019 07:41

I’d hate to have the royals lives. Not worth it.

SunsetBoulevard3 · 27/12/2019 08:33

Pippa looks incredible but she doesn’t work and has unlimited amounts of money . I’m sure she has a home gym and a personal instructor. Plus I think they all have good genes anyway.
Arthur nowhere to be seen. Presumably with the nanny!!
Kate and William don’t seem to go on holiday with the Middletons anymore. Or spend Xmas with them. I wonder why?

WineOrGinOrBoth · 27/12/2019 08:36

The Cambridges are moving up the pecking order. That’s probably the explanation.

queenofarles · 27/12/2019 08:43

I think it’s more to do with being in the UK at Christmas and Sandringham and all it follows.
It can be a busy time up to Christmas Eve and I guess after church they’d rather just go home and relax with their children.
Honestly I’d rather stay home than travel with DCs at this time of year, I spent few Christmas abroad in sunnier climate and found no joy in it at all.

hopeishere · 27/12/2019 08:45

I don't think they've done Bucklebury for a few years.

But the Middletons have been at Amner for Christmas - there were definitely photos of them at church but not doing "the walk".

The York girls will be gutted if Charles cuts back on it - they're always there.

QueenOfTheAndals · 27/12/2019 08:54

@SunsetBoulevard3 I don't think that's true, don't they all still go to Mustique for a midwinter break?

Those long lenses are intrusive. You can see pa Middleton has a pacemaker and did I spot a c section scar

BlingLoving · 27/12/2019 09:14

I suspect that the Middleton's have accepted that christmas with kate without all the fanfare is unlikely and they compromise accordingly. Perhaps they have a new tradition of a huge family event at new year or a pre Christmas event in early December.

What Charles will demand once king is unclear. The queen, for all her more distant parenting style, is nonetheless very focused on her family including children and grandchildren and the cousins etc she grew up with. Charles appears to be less so - v involved and close to his immediate family but less interest in extended family. I think it's probably also understandable when the matriarch has been around for so long- everyone else just focuses on their own bits of it. I mean, we are always been told about the queens active relationship with child x or grandchild y but we dont hear much that suggests that Charles is a doting uncle to A or whatever. And in the nicest possible way, the extended family are getting further and further from him. A child who is the queens great grandchild is only his great niece or whatever.

I didn't spot the pacemaker but agree about the c section scar. Neither of which did I need to know, so yes, very intrusive.

Ocomeocomeimaginaryfleas · 27/12/2019 09:42

There comes a point where instead of going to your parents for Christmas, they come to you. W&K have reached that point I think. The Middletons seem to share themselves fairly between Pippa and Kate. Next they'll have to fit in James.

Families make Christmases so complicated!Grin

DuchessofWoke · 27/12/2019 10:48

Do we think the Cambridge will be secretly jetting off to join the Middletons en vacances once the Sandringham formalities are over?

DobbyTheHouseElk · 27/12/2019 10:54

I haven’t seen the photos because I refuse to click on the daily wail. But a c section scar is low down isn’t it? How do they photo that. Very intrusive.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 27/12/2019 10:58

William and Kate never seem to spend Xmas at Buckleberry now. Not sure why not

Like PPs, I wonder if they all now meet up at Anmer instead? After all it's close to Sandringham so W&K can make the most of seeing them, has plenty of room and also staff to soak up a lot of the work

Horsemad · 27/12/2019 11:12

@Dobby the bikini bottoms were pretty skimpy!

DobbyTheHouseElk · 27/12/2019 11:14

@Horsemad they would have to be skimpy. C section is low surely.

Horsemad · 27/12/2019 11:16

Yep. I also thought 'is that a c sec scar I can see?', so as PP also mentioned, I guess it is.
