Christmas Day outfits

I've been half heartedly looking for the perfect Xmas day dress all year and recently upped the ante but still no luck. Want a patterned mostly red (but not fire engine red - more rusty / claret) with pockets and that doesn't look like I'm wearing a sack! Above the knee as I've got wide hips but good legs and anything longer makes me look enormous.

I might give up and so am looking for inspiration. I'm at home cooking for 9 so something easy to wear / comfy and will have my slippers on!!

I got a lovely next dress. Black with a deer and animal pattern. Long sleeves so warm but not hot.
It’s nice stretchy material so perfect after dinner.

To be fair my outfit will be a pair of 8 quid dungarees and a Christmas jumper.

One year I went smart. Walked downstairs all proud of how fancy I looked with make up and swishy hair, the lot. My dad asked me where I was going, my mum told me my skirt could be more flattering and my brother told me I looked like a clown. Never bothered again.

Beebumble2 · 14/12/2019 19:17

Silky, patterned multi coloured pleated skirt ( elastic waist) with black, v neck, midi sleeved cashmere jumper. Black tights and low healed pumps.

FusionChefGeoff · 14/12/2019 19:33

I've been thinking pleated skirt actually but again I'm worried the length will make me look like a sack of potatoes.

Might sack it all off and go jeans and Cmas jumper!

I will be in my pj’s, not going out this year or needing to pick my mum up (I lost her this year so it’s my first Christmas without my wee mammy) so I’m slogging about in my pyjamas reminiscing about past Christmases, cooking and eating (not too fussed about the drinking except soft drinks or tea)

I'm wearing this:

I'm wearing a corduroy green dress with burgundy tights, pink adidas gazelles and a pink headband. The dress has pockets and is nice and roomy for the food belly I'll undoubtedly have Smile

This is mine but not me, sadly.

We dress up a bit - having laid a beautiful table and spent the day cooking it seems almost disrespectful not to! I'll be wearing a long black dress with a chiffon jacket in deep reds and purples.

FusionChefGeoff · 14/12/2019 22:40

Oh my god westr that's a dress and a half - stunning!!!

Thanks!

This is a great thread as I’m really lacking in inspiration. I LOVE dressing up usually but really struggle with doing so for a day at home with what is basically a lot of housework involved (two small DC and two elderly ladies this year!).

Karmatime · 15/12/2019 09:03

I’m going for black velvet jeans and a dark green cashmere sweater, I suspect I’ll change into harem pants after lunch to accommodate over stuffed belly.

Chickenwing · 15/12/2019 09:39

Il be wearing my new pajamas Grin

Abibranning · 15/12/2019 09:48

I've got this to wear, nice and stretchy too.

I really fancy being comfy this year and have ordered some harem style yoga pants and a matching sweatshirt.

They haven't arrived yet so until I try them on I don't know if they'll look ok. I love casual clothes but I do like something new to wear on Xmas day - it reminds me of being little and going to church in my new outfit and feeling puffed up with pride!

Cockadoodledooo · 15/12/2019 10:09

I'm tempted by this one from Popsy, but given I'm spending a large part of the day in uniform it's probably not worth it. But it has pockets, unlike the Joe Brown's Christmas dress I already have..

Ninkanink · 15/12/2019 11:44

I’m wearing this one:

xmaself24 · 15/12/2019 11:53

I'll be in Xmas pyjamas all day.

shinynewapplesonachristmastree · 15/12/2019 12:15

Love that Popsy dress @Cockadoodledooo

westr · 18/12/2019 09:37

@BloomedAgain - I'll just be at home!
