Whatever happened to Mrs Gloss?

I used to love the Gloss FB site. However I’ve noticed in the last 18months + it has just become an affiliate site, much like the Instahuns. Any negative feedback regarding companies is very quickly shut down (particularly if it is regarding one of said affiliate links). I used to really enjoy it for its unbiased and informative advice. Now it’s advertisements and trout pouts. That said can anyone recommend another FB group like the Gloss of old before it sold out?

There’s always an angle. Magazines, tv etc it’s advertising. Facebook groups, it’s influencer marketing. It’s not just Mrs Gloss, it’s other groups.

Thanks to whoever recommended the Sali Hughes Facebook page and the one set up from here. A lot more ordinary and straight talking than the Mrs Gloss one which did get very posy and in your face as a lot of people have said here already - trout pouts, posers and sarcastic comments etc.

I reckon now I might not be able to find the Gloss page as they might have blocked me, could that be possible? I left the group when I had posted a question and one of the moderators replied to say that the question had already been answered so I needed to look back at the other posts so I posted to say I was leaving the group as I was getting no help.

I'm an early day's glosser - even went to the meet-up perfume workshop to make the first perfume. It was great fun altogether & dd loves the perfume, (she's 6).

It's not like it used to be for sure but I have too many products now & need something else. Joined no shit though 😁

I joined Mrs Gloss in the beginning after seeing it mentioned on here. I left over 12 months ago after it filled up with photos of men contouring Confused Just found the new group Smile

kissmyaxe1 · 05/12/2019 01:35

I'm struggling to understand why someone would set up a new group that's all about feminism and also try to tear another woman down for doing a bloody good job out of a huge group of people. Shitty effort ladies, how do you ever expect progression when we can't even be nice to each other?

Housewife2010 · 05/12/2019 05:09

I left the Sali Hughes group after it came to light how she'd bullied Esther Walker. Esther's husband, Giles Coren's instastories re Sali was very interesting.

Mrs Gloss makes me laugh, the amount of cheap ebay clothes that they a worship makes me giggle not to mention the make up. Someone can look like a, dogs dinner and it'll be "you look amazing hun" and then you get someone who is quite obviously super good looking moaning her figure but just wants the boost.

SamanthaBrique · 05/12/2019 06:41

I got kicked out of Gloss when someone posted a photo of thigh-high ripped denim stiletto boots with open toes and asked what she could accessorise them with. I said a lamp post and a good lawyer. The huns were not happy!

takeittogo · 05/12/2019 06:50

Feminism isn’t about being nice to other women, kiss

There are some great style and beauty threads on MN. Wink

That you Shiny?

PassingIntoTheWest · 05/12/2019 22:28

I used to like Mrs Gloss and the Goss, but after a while I started to feel uneasy about all of the crazy stuff that people were happy to put on / in their face. It just seems completely unethical to present all of this nonsense as normal to young women.

BeverlyGoldberg · 06/12/2019 00:47

I left Mrs Gloss when I got a 24 hr ban for saying 'minge'.

BusterGonad · 06/12/2019 03:13

Ha ha.

PassingIntoTheWest · 06/12/2019 09:33

Do posts on Mrs G have to be pre-screened before they're live now as well? It wasn't like that originally, was it?

HappyHarlot · 06/12/2019 10:31

Just requested to join. I learned a lot from the early days of Mrs Gloss, but it changed so much I unfollowed the page. For all of the same reasons listed above.

I've left Mrs Gloss. Too much blatant fishing for complements on there.

gingersausage · 09/12/2019 08:00

I’m irritated by the fact that a thread by a woman who had lost 11 stone was closed after 100 posts and yet threads telling obviously beautiful women how amazing they look are allowed to run to 300-400 posts.

LucyLocketss · 09/12/2019 09:14

@gingersausage I saw that post and reported it. It was turned off because said woman was posting a go fund me link all over it asking for donations for loose skin removal. Maybe be in full possession of the facts before moaning?

Elementary00 · 09/12/2019 10:17

I was one of the first 50 members of the FB group. It used to be brilliant but I got cheesed off by all the huns, the adoration of the men, etc. Left a good while back.

Elementary00 · 09/12/2019 10:19

Oh god yes and all the JM fawning! Ugh!

SuperficialSuzie · 09/12/2019 13:58

Just sent a join request. Another gloss defector

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 22/12/2019 17:44

I love Julia and will always love her, but I cannot bear Gloss anymore. It isn't a beauty page anymore, it is all about looking as false as possible. Fake lashes, 6lbs of makeup and the ever present trout pout. It's horrendous!

ReturnofSaturn · 23/12/2019 11:02

Can someone link to the Mrs Gloss page?

I cant find it anymore on Facebook???

Can only find 'mrs Gloss daily deals and steals'

????
