Whatever happened to Mrs Gloss?

I used to love the Gloss FB site. However I’ve noticed in the last 18months + it has just become an affiliate site, much like the Instahuns. Any negative feedback regarding companies is very quickly shut down (particularly if it is regarding one of said affiliate links). I used to really enjoy it for its unbiased and informative advice. Now it’s advertisements and trout pouts. That said can anyone recommend another FB group like the Gloss of old before it sold out?

I really hate to say this but you might want to consider changing your group name to something else. No, not the 'bullshit' (although FB can be a bit funny and inconsistent about swearing) but the Female only bit. Last thing you need is someone reporting you to FB for being exclusionary - and they definitely will. Have experience of this sadly SadAngry

Btw are people who are genuinely shit at makeup and are the polar opposite of photogenic allowed to join? Asking for a friend Grin

Yep, come join, we'll tell you if your makeup can be improved, and we'll tell you how. If that's what you want. Or, you know, you can just look and discuss and gain fashion tips or basically do whatever you want. ;)

Ugh Mrs Gloss used to be so lovely... I too left about a year ago when the whole vibe of the place changed. I didn’t see any point in posting anymore since I wouldn’t get advice, just lots of false compliments or people advising I add massive false lashes and a half ton of highlighter! It also felt very cliquey for such a big group and “if your face didn’t fit” you were essentially ignored. Then there were the admin rampages where perfectly reasonable posters were banned for asking perfectly reasonable questions...

AWESOME. Waheyyy. We have an awesome gender non-conforming lesbian in our ranks. She's amazing at finding AMAZING clothes in charity shops and putting fantastic outfits together. And has full body hair. I love her so much - she always reminds me that normal bodies are normal. I hope she'll stick around and show off her cool hairstyles and great, practical yet still flattering and feminine(ish) fashion tips.

I was added to this in the early days, I hid it, after my whole FB feed was continually spammed with pouting red lippy. I tried all of the various filters to prevent the onslaught but alas, the spamming continued. 😔 (obvs not the fault of the page). The last time I looked in on it, it had morphed into a full on Hun fest. Pass thanks. It got promptly deleted.

Come to our group. We're growing. I'm sure you'll find plenty of my pouting selfies, lashes and all, but there should be plenty of more natural looks too. Which is what I perhaps need as well, to remind myself that we don't all need the instagram face.

I've been accepted, I can see all the posts and comment on them but I can't see an option to start a new post...am I missing something?

It's driving me nuts - on other groups there is a 'write something' option above 'new activity' but not on this one for me...

Just joined. There was another MN one I remember, can't find it. I left in a mass tidy up of FB and regret it.
