Do you know what you're wearing Christmas Day?

We aren't going too far this year, got immediate family coming to us Smile I'm torn between:

A) Getting dressed up and looking all swish
B) Getting a novelty Christmas dress/jumper
C) Being a slob Grin

What are you wearing? Bonus points for pics!

My pyjamas. All day Smile

Ellapaella · 23/11/2019 19:22

@Judystilldreamsofhorses there probably will be next Friday - they did last year. A kind mumsnetter gave me a 15% off code to order this. I think if you sign up for emails you can get the 15% discount.

I have a Christmas Day dress which I 've worn for the last 4 years - it's gorgeous and is now very "in" this year which I find quite funny. It's a navy blue velvet cowl neck mini dress with huge exaggerated puff sleeves and skin tight arms. I love it and it's dead stretchy and comfy. I'll wear it with high shoe boots for mass then switch to lower suede western style boots for cooking (who am I kidding, drinking baileys).

dontlickthelamp · 23/11/2019 19:34

My pyjamas (hopefully I get some new ones as a present)

MissMogwai · 23/11/2019 19:39

Skinny jeans with a bit of stretch and a nice jumper plus the inevitable new slippers. I will do my hair and make up, to avoid frightening the in-laws.

I will spend the morning in pjs and dressing gown tho. I don't make Christmas dinner, that's my DPs department so I'll waft about, helping, and eating after eights.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/11/2019 19:41

Thanks, ella - I have an NUS card so I think that is 15% off all the time, but I might be tempted by that jumper with 30% which is what they did last BF!

Ellapaella · 23/11/2019 19:43

Ah really? I should have waited! But then I set my heart on it, started obsessing about it and got FOMO Grin

Pilot12 · 23/11/2019 19:46

If we're having family round I'll wear a nice dress and the kids will be in Christmas outfits. If it's just me, DP and the kids then myself and the kids will wear our Christmas pyjamas all day. Depends who MIL decides to spend Christmas with this year.

happytobemrsg · 23/11/2019 20:29

I have a couple of these jumpers from New Look which look great. Thinking of buying a black one to wear with the black skirt (I already have khaki & burgundy):

Genuinely surprised at how many people spend the day in their PJs. I love dressing up for a special day. Sadly we don’t have a tradition..every Christmas is different so the one thing I like to do is dress up and feel nice. Just bought a nice blued dress today which I’ll wear with heeled boots and sparkly earrings.

Hollylolly28 · 23/11/2019 20:43

I never go to matalan but went in the other day and they had some really nice sparkly tops and dresses so I think I'll probably get something there

666onmyhead · 23/11/2019 20:47

I thought I'd give Santa a run for his money in this ... www.riverisland.com/p/red-printed-long-sleeve-a-line-midi-dress-796707
Bought it today !

Jolonglegs · 23/11/2019 20:56

Visiting the inlaws Christmas day, so will probably try and make an effort as I do love dressing up occasionally. I hope to convince DP that I haven't had a new dress for ages and that we might want to take me out to buy one. If that doesn't work, I might just wear my usual LBD that I've had for ages. I wonder if sparkly tights would work?

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 23/11/2019 20:59

I have a novelty Santa velvet dress, but might not wear it because I think it's too short (it came from China and only cost £5 so I can wear it round the house without worrying about waste of money). If I don't wear that, it will be this dress (not me in the pic)

BestIsWest · 23/11/2019 21:16

Dark jeans with a Christmas T shirt covered by an apron DD embroidered for me when she was 6 (she’s now 26, it comes out once a year) as I’m cooking.

SoMuchToBits · 23/11/2019 21:20

My work uniform. Navy trousers and a light blue tunic top. I will be working from 07.00 until 19.30 on Christmas Day.

JaceLancs · 23/11/2019 21:25

I’m wearing a gold and navy stripe Ralph Lauren sweater dress

JMAngel1 · 23/11/2019 21:53

@666onmyhead
That dress is gorgeous.

Cloudyyy · 23/11/2019 21:55

A sparkly Monsoon “jumper dress”. Quite fitted but very comfy. Hair will be done but slippers on too!

PerkingFaintly · 23/11/2019 21:56

Flowers for GalactiCat and all the uniform-wearers this Christmas.

Thank you.

passtheloveon · 23/11/2019 22:05

@SoMuchToBits.
I’m wearing same as you and I’m working 8-8pm.Have a great day !

HappyHarlot · 23/11/2019 22:06

Last year I wore my uniform. This year I plan to wear my PJs.

SoMuchToBits · 23/11/2019 22:12

@passtheloveon it looks like I will be working with a great bunch, but I will miss my family who are all coming to stay over Christmas. Will see them all Boxing Day though. May wear something festive on Boxing Day instead!

Northernlurker · 23/11/2019 22:14

I'm the on call manager at work and will be going in for a few hours so planning on red Boden dress, green tights, red fly London boots. I'm going for a festive work look!

passtheloveon · 23/11/2019 22:19

@SoMuchToBits, sounds like a good idea for Boxing Day, might treat myself to something sparkly 🤶
