Ok so not quite in the sticks, but rainy muddy touristy Cumbria, anyone else in a similar locality and how do you actually dress (regardless style&beauty threads)?

Are you all wafting around in warehouse midi polyester and teddy coats?

Thanks for the opinions, I will dig it out see if I feel better in it than I did last year. It can get very hot in there, and then you want to take it off, hence lugging it around and it is like a folded tent!

@taybert usually cos or toast. Although a recent wool pair from cos formed a hole after one wear Sad
Sometimes white stuff but not sure about wool content there.

It only our winters were short.
My partner was telling me we’re due another little ice age (last one ended at time of Charles Dickens?) due to something called the Maunder Minimum. It’s depressing. Then again he also said climate change might off-set it. (Dark humour) Shock

That's a very similar look to mine. I hope it doesn't put you off.

Skinnies are the only jeans that look good with wellies

Old Dubarry boots, Pikeur jodhpurs, long sleeved tee shirt, thick Pikeur fleece, old Pikeur sleeveless puffya, Musto waterproof jacket. Practical, not posh

I’m not properly rural but do a lot of muddy walks. While skinny jeans are not the height of fashion and serious fashionistas may have ditched them, they do look best with wellies or long country boots. So I wear skinnies with those boots for muddy walking days.

For days when I’m going into town, assuming it’s not hammering it down, I have “mom” jeans which I roll up slightly and wear with trainers. Bare ankles up until recently but now I add chunky socks slouched down to fill the ankle gap.

I do wear skirts / dresses but generally short ones with thick tights as that works if I need to sling my boots on and go out in the mud

Well Mon -Friday I work so it's frocks opaques and suede ankle boots
or cigarette trousers/ blouse. Jackets or trench coat on top.
Smart wool coat if chilly but dry.
Work wear comes from Hobbs Boden Whistles- basics maybe a bit of M/S John Lewis.
Weekends jeans T shirts maybe Hush biker if going out shopping.
Dress up a bit if nipping into Manchester (can get to Manchester in under an hour).
I don't have any specific country clothes though I am married to a vet and live in a farm house up a muddy track.
Wellies of course , barbour - bought when I lived in the city .
Warm coats again bought when I used to walk my children to school in rainy Manchester.
