For a bit of nostalgia! I’ll kick things off..

  • Hard Candy makeup and nail polish. I had a quad of eyeshadows in purples and golds, thought it was the shit!
  • hair mascaras. Wtf were they about. Made your hair look like a gunky stringy mess
  • body shop dewberry body spray, which was the thing at our school, along with
  • wearing boy’s Lynx deodorant (I still recall which boys I fancied wore Tempest!)
  • heather shimmer lipstick, obviously
  • Rouge Noir nail polish, which everyone thought was the shit cos of Pulp Fiction, but it turned out to not even be the one that Uma Thurman wore)

Hit me with your memories!

Remember so many of these!
I'd like to add:
Wella. colour mousse - plum or anything red
Blue eyeshadow- especially from Bourjois
That nail varnish that peeled off so you didn't need nail varnish remover
Those bourjois máscaras with a white end and a black end
Body shop strawberry lip balm
And who remembers the animals in danger range from body shop - everyone had the fountain pens at school

FadingStar · 17/11/2019 20:47

Lush did an amazing foot powder for tired feet...it was just the thing after a jog. I still remember the smell twenty years on.

WingBingo · 17/11/2019 20:47

Avon Spectrum makeup which had red and black packaging

My mum was an Avon lady so I had loads.

fedup21 · 17/11/2019 20:48

Shaders and Toners sachets of hair dye. No matter which colour I chose, my hair always went a strange pink colour!

SteelRiver · 17/11/2019 20:49

Bourjois used to do a fab eyeliner, but I can't remember the mame. It was like a felt tip but had 3 tips. It was dotted along your lash line and it was really easy to get right up to your lashes and do a great job. I loved it and still miss it.

I see JML are now doing one like it, but it's way more expensive than the Bourjois one was.

SteelRiver · 17/11/2019 20:59

I almost forgot this! Salon Selectives shampoo. Smelled of apples.

Remember the tinted lip balm in a case shaped like an ice cream cone from Avon? And, the Avon eau de toilette that came in a glass bottle shaped like a kneeling unicorn. The lid was its silver horn. I thought they were beyond fancy when I was about 8.

Avon's Winter Wine lipstick. The perfect warm red with tiny bit of glitter.

L'Oreal tinted hair moussse. I favoured the copper coloured one and used about half a can every time I scrunched dried my hair. On special occasions I'd finish my hair off with a gold glitter hair spray. I must have looked like a Xmas bauble.

Boots used to do a lush smelling body lotion called Persian something or other. Really heady rose smell that lasted all day.

Poison perfume. Oh God I used to bathe in the stuff so did all my friends. If too many of us gathered in a small space the smell could strip the paint off the walls.

Body Shop Raspberry Ripple body lotion. I think it was called that?

BercowsFestiveFlamingo · 17/11/2019 21:28

Ah the memories Smile

Impulse Nirvana was my first body spray followed by On Fire, Destiny, and in around 2004/5 they did a gorgeous limited edition lime, strawberry and something one that I had on holiday to Mallorca. It was so fresh and fruity. On Fire and Destiny were my favourites though.

Natural essences deodorant? I think it was the men's one I used Grin

Passion fruit cleansing gel would be in my bathroom now instead of Clinique if they still made it. I loved that stuff and used it for years. Around age 13-20.

Bath pearls were great. Such fun getting baskets made up in the Body Shop.

Miners English Rose lipstick. I'd still wear this now. I have a Clinique freebie that's a similar shade except it's lipgloss.

Ananya was the perfume I wore in 1995.

Boots Natural Collection Ice Musk.

Sure Pink deodorant. That was "my" scent as a teen from age 14. I miss it as was still using it a few years back but now they've stopped it.

Wella Experience shampoo and conditioner

The original Trevor Sorbie in the brown bottles.

I remember the horse chestnut shampoo in boots but never tried it.

Peppermint foot lotion used to smell off after a few weeks. It was lovely at first though.

Being 12 and 13 was fo much fun as far as make up and toiletries went.

Gillette Wild Rain shower gel and shaving gel. Divine.

Jazz aftershave

Insignia men's range

Hi-karate

Aramis

Lynx Marine and others I can't remember but my brothers wore them. Much nicer than the scents these days.

I used L'Oréal studio line mouse and boots country born mouse.

Finesse shampoo and conditioner.

Why do they have to change things?!

Blingismything · 17/11/2019 21:38

I had a brilliant Salon Selectives folding hairbush/comb, it was brilliant and I loved it! Also this was a random one, Bic (as in the lighters) had perfume/aftershave in bottles the same as the square cigarette lighters! The green one smelt great.

bakedbeanzontoast · 17/11/2019 21:40

Vidal Sassoon shampoo. Rimmer cleat complexion powder. Biactol

peaceanddove · 17/11/2019 21:45

DH wore Lynx Alaska when we first met. Loved it so much.

Nicky Clarke's Hairomatherapy shampoo & conditioner in tall aluminium bottles. Smelled divine.

Anyone remember Oriflame parties? Their cleanser, toner and moisturiser came in pink plastic bottles with gold trim. My SIL had the set and I thought she was so sophisticated.

swizzlestix · 17/11/2019 21:53

Coty L'aimant creamy skin perfume it was lovely

clippityclop · 17/11/2019 22:09

Avon Pretty Peach perfume with a lid shaped like the fruit.
Bonne Bell cleanser.
Christy face masks. I loved the cucumber one.
Those Rimmel adverts with pictures of all the different nail polishes and eyeshadows. I had Iced Willow and Gold on Lime.
Soap on a rope (due for a comeback).
Ponds face cream.

scarecrowfeet · 17/11/2019 22:16

Constance Carroll off the market, impulse - school changing rooms stank of that, body shop kiwi lip balm, lads at school wore Jazz, we wore anais anais or lou lou.

scarecrowfeet · 17/11/2019 22:18

And Anne French cleansing milk

Ohyesiam · 17/11/2019 22:27

Was it flex shampoo where the advert was a young woman skipping along by energetically in a blue rara skirt, with very bouncy fair hair

bornonasunday · 17/11/2019 22:40

Great thread!
Any one remember Outdoor Girl make-up? I loved their ‘Limelight’ lipstick, very frosted pinky colour. Also Miners ‘mates’ eyeshadow duo, I had the navy/pale blue one, again very frosted! I had the browny/black block mascara... never knew anyone who didn’t spit in it😱 All of us at school wore either Boots17 or the Woolworths own brand Evette, then Rimmel as we got older! They still do Heather Shimmer lipstick, and my best friends favourite ‘Coffee Shimmer’😁
How about Perfumes... ‘Tramp’ ‘Smitty’ ‘Cachet’ ‘Chique’
Aftershaves.... ‘Denim’ ‘Zendiq’ ‘Hai Karate’
Boots own range of bath stuff, Lemon Grass, Blue Fern, Lily of the Valley.... and the tiny hand soaps in a wicker gift basket at Christmas.
Think I could probably still recite the entire Boots cosmetic stock from the late 70s/early 80’s if I tried!!😁 still love make-up now!

GinisLife · 17/11/2019 22:47

Miners did a fabulous silver nail polish. It was like having mercury on your fingers. Never found anything remotely close.
Aqua Manda perfume smelled so lovely
Charles of the Ritz perfume
Leichner foundation. Covered everything !!

bornonasunday · 17/11/2019 22:48

Ooh, Anne French!! Tesco still sell it I think? The smell takes me back more than 40 years😱 still love using it. Constance Carroll, you could still get that up til a few years ago, liked their nail polishes. And, yes, loved those Rimmel ads with all the colours of lipstick and nail varnish.... I had Lilac Ice...awful colour😂

bingowingsmcgee · 17/11/2019 23:08

Lancome maquisuperbe!!!

bingowingsmcgee · 17/11/2019 23:10

No 17 bonbon lipstick, glycerine and rosewater to get the 'dewy' look. Soap leaves, physioderm astringent, camay, matey, cosmetics to go...

bingowingsmcgee · 17/11/2019 23:13

V05 hot oil tubes! Bath cubes that came in pairs wrapped up- so exciting!

OxiBrilloRange · 17/11/2019 23:26

Exclamation! perfume
Charlie Red body spray
Coffee shimmer
Heather Shimmer
Twilight teaser
Barry M dazzle dust
Sun in spray
Blue mascara

Ying/yang ring
Stretchy chokers
Short Denim dungarees
White T-shirt with cute image on from Kylies or Clockface(?)
Plaid shirt tied round waist
Canvas lace up shoes with thick rubber heals
Slouch socks
Butterfly hair clips
Canvas draw string backpack with floral print or Aztec print
Or mini leather backpack
Bandanas, pink paisley

tobee · 17/11/2019 23:41

It's kind of unbelievable that they decided to name a body spray On Fire 🔥 Shock!

Lumene · 18/11/2019 00:02

Lipcote
Body shop peppermint foot lotion
Body shop exfoliating granules made out of some kind of ground down bean
Clearisil ‘skin’ coloured spot cream which left bright orange raised spots on your face worse than most of the spots they were trying to cover.
