Haha, me too @frugalkitty! 😆

Not keen on Pippa's outfit at all. I quite like Bea's though.

StRomanov · 13/11/2019 09:36

Queen Sofia looks amazing in red

StRomanov · 13/11/2019 09:45

Kate's berry trousers/grey jacket combo is what I'd come up with if I had items in my wardrobe that didn't quite match with anything else. I think a pp had it right in that it's the tones rather than colours per se that clash. I work with a woman who mixes fabrics in a very jarring way - cream chiffon skirt with nude tights paired with a cream wool jacket.

BeatriceTheBeast · 13/11/2019 10:02

I quite like Pippa's outfit actually.

I also think matchy matchy is very dated, so Kate is looking a bit more modern and relaxed. Anything goes these days with mixed prints, mixed tones etc. I really like it.

Although, I don't think anyone rates nude tights, so the pp is probably right about her colleague's strange dress sense.

Balloondog · 13/11/2019 10:02

Great picture @JaimeBronde! I think Carole Middleton is a dead ringer for her aunt (bridesmaid in the photo).

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/11/2019 10:18

She does look a bit like Carole but these are Michael's relatives so would be no relation to her!

If we don't rate nude rights and we don't rate barely black tights (as worn by DoC on Sat night), what tights DO we rate? 🤔

Genuine question as I muddle my way through fashion...!

BeatriceTheBeast · 13/11/2019 10:33

I only really like opaques or bare legs tbh, but that's only my view, (obviously). For me, thinner tights don't look nice and also aren't practical, as they ladder easily and they aren't warm, so I don't own any. I don't really see the point in them tbh.

astralweaks · 13/11/2019 10:37

Pippa’s look is a bit Guantanamo Bay.

Horsemad · 13/11/2019 10:37

To be fair, I rarely wear dresses/skirts (usually only for funerals Shock) as I am more comfy in trousers or jeans but would like to know, in case I get it wrong next time I do wear a dress!

If it's autumn or winter I'd probably opt for opaque myself.

StRomanov · 13/11/2019 10:38

I still rate sheer black tights. They look especially good with DMs!

QueenOfTheAndals · 13/11/2019 10:39

I'll always prefer bare legs to nude tights but you get some really good nude tights now that match your skin tone and just look like bare legs but better.

Fozzleyplum · 13/11/2019 10:41

Horseman, I was just about to ask the same question! What tights are acceptable nowadays?

BeatriceTheBeast · 13/11/2019 10:55

True Queen, but the pp talking about her colleague mentioned pthe nude tights as if they were part of the look iyswim, so, (I'm guessing), not a terribly convincing dupe for bare legs.

Sheer black tights and DM boots I have seen actually and it can look really cool. Not on me though, sadly Haloween Sad.

StRomanov · 13/11/2019 11:18

@BeatriceTheBeast yes the tights didn't help the overall look but it was more the fabric mix. I agree fabrics can be mixed to spectacular effect but this missed the mark. It was a Chanel style jacket and the skirt was a floral print. I think my colleague matched the colours so was head to toe cream. With nude tights and heels.

On other days she looks fabulous and has amazing legs so the nude tights do work for her sometimes.

StRomanov · 13/11/2019 11:19

Me neither. The last time you'll have seen legs like mine, they were holding up an oak sideboard.

BeatriceTheBeast · 13/11/2019 11:22

Halloween Grin StRomanov. You and me both!

WineOrGinOrBoth · 13/11/2019 11:39

@StRomanov - are you me Grin

SenecaFalls · 13/11/2019 12:14

Thankfully, bare legs are acceptable year round where I live. I haven't worn pantyhose tights since about 1996. If I'm up North in the winter (rarely, I mean why go North in the winter when you live in Florida), it's socks and boots.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 13/11/2019 12:15

It’s only Prince Charles in India
I supppose Camilla has gone straight on to New Zealand to recover from the jet lag before the tour commences.

Another article about the Sussexes not spending Xmas at Sandringham

Obviously we have to wait and see, but they skipped Balmoral in the summer and are spending 6 weeks in the US prior to Christmas.

I do get the sense that Harry is quite isolated from his family now.
In any other situation, that would be a red flag.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 13/11/2019 12:24

Letizia looking Va va voom in red in Cuba

Horsemad · 13/11/2019 12:28

Hmm, so much for the 'family she's never had' that PH mentioned a couple of years ago... Hmm

BertrandRussell · 13/11/2019 12:29

Harry hasn’t been to Balmoral for years.
And what happened to the Mumsnet mantras “My little family” and “Make your own traditions”?

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 13/11/2019 12:37

Harry has spent Xmas at Sandringham every year apart from one when he was in active service.
As far as I understand; Thanksgiving is a big deal in the US, possibly more important than Xmas, so the Sussexes being there as part of a 6 week trip seems like a pretty decent length of time.
To then skip what only needs to be a couple of days in Norfolk does not help them in making an effort with the rest of the family.
So Harry and William don’t get on. Harry can’t have fallen out with all of them?
