Thanks diesel! I had such a fun weekend, which is probably why I don't feel 100% today! Too much fun and wine.

TheSummoningDark · 11/11/2019 17:47

I think I have 2 separate identities, I'm more of a city dweller, museums and shops, going to gigs person (described more than once as "a bit alternative"). My DS is very much a hates crowds, out in the country, up to his armpits in mud person. I'm also a SAHM so I'm far more likely to be seen in walking boots than heels. I've had people who know me 'at home' who don't recognise me out and about on my own. It's good for my health but it takes a better woman than me to style waterproof trousers Grin

As I said upthread I anti Kondo'd. Most of my more... impractical clothes are gone. But I've gone too far the other way and buy thinking 'that'll keep the sun off' and not 'yellow makes me look like a zombie extra'. I would like to find a mythical halfway point of practical with a nod to who I am.

Peachypips78 · 11/11/2019 19:27

Summoning- I LOVE both of those outfits! Made me think I could wear that kind of thing after all. Are you tall?

My clothes have to be hospital-friendly- comfy shoes, bare above the elbows and repellent of baby sick. Hence most of my things coming from charity shops!

Just sportswear today as have been dragging patients out for exercise. Will try and up my game tomorrow as I'm feeling so inspired!

TheSummoningDark · 11/11/2019 20:19

Peachy, go for it, I always think it doesn't cost anything to try something different on, or wear it in a different way. At best, I find something I love and at worst, I can have a giggle at an epic fail. I love a good charity shop find, I used to hand sew and embellish things, but haven't had chance for ages.

I'm a 5'7 pear, both skirts are a M&S size 16.

I now dread the words 'dry clean only'.

NancyEspana · 12/11/2019 09:31

Another SAHM here. We are in a rural(ish) town in Berkshire. I also love the city though and occasionally wish we were in London. But I think it might be a case of grass always being greener for me. If we were still living in cities as we always did before, I'd no doubt be pining for the countryside!

Here I am today:

5'8" apple

Skirt, DP, 16
Tshirt, Hush, L
Cardi, Next, 14
Boots, DM, 7

I'm spot cleaning the ceiling (don't ask) so just jogger jeans, cheap half sleeve t shirt (my at home uniform) and trainers so I don't fall off the ladder.

Nancy, you look great, that style really suits you.

justbeingelle · 12/11/2019 10:36

Just found this thread, you all look amazing and are definitely giving me inspiration. I've fallen into the mindset of feeling bad about myself, feeling like nothing fits etc. I've been floored with an illness for the past 2 weeks and living in pyjamas but I'll definitely be contributing to this thread, so bookmarking for future reference.

P.S another fan of snag tights here.

picklemepopcorn · 12/11/2019 10:58

I definitely have 'rules' that work for my busty pear shape.
Avoid: frills, gathers and fuss below the waist, high necks.
Choose: High waist/empire line, Straight or wide legs, Strong colours, Deep or wide necklines.

What are your 'rules'?

Phoebebuffay13 · 12/11/2019 11:04

@NancyEspana you look great! And I do agree with the grass is always greener! I love in London and there's not one day that I dont think about packing everything and moving to the countryside!

Didn't get a chance to take a picture this morning but I'm wearing black denim dungarees from new look, a paperpressireland jumper that says 'tired & needy'(which sums up my Tuesday!) and white Adidas trainers! 😍

NancyEspana · 12/11/2019 11:27

Aw thanks phoebe and summoning!

popcorn, my 'rules', (but tbh, I break them all the time, so I guess they're more like tendencies in my case, are):

Avoid: high necks, high heeled, pointy / delicate shoes, wide leg trousers, anything tight fitting around the waist, anything which could be misconstrued as twee / OTT girly, biker jackets.

Those last two are because I'm tall and broad shouldered, so biker jackets make me look like Si & Dave and girly girl stuff just looks a bit incongruent.

Also I don't like 'classic' style / polished chic on me. It is not me at all. Love it on other people though.

Wear: straight leg jeans, a-line skirts, v necks, opaque tights, shorter skirts (swit swoo Halloween Grin), chunky boots, interesting necklaces.

picklemepopcorn · 12/11/2019 11:55

They help when shopping though, even if you do decide you love that x so much your going to flippin' well make it work! One of my 'cheats' is to use a broach/badge to create a better neckline. Often cowls aren't dippy/sloppy enough for me, so I drag 'em down and stick 'em with a suitable stabber!

NancyEspana · 12/11/2019 12:10

So true popcorn. I should follow my own rules, but sometimes the heart wants what the heart wants Halloween Grin.

I have a cowl neck jumper and just bought a shirt dress from Asos sustainable range and it buttons right up to the top. I should probably leave a few undone, but...but..I like the buttoned up look! I wonder if a long necklace and a belt round the middle might make it work.

TheSummoningDark · 12/11/2019 12:33

Not so busty pear here, I'd say most of popcorn's rules work for me as well.
Also
Fit and flare/skater styles often suit me, just below knee length is good. Dark denim is better on my bottom half.
Beware shift dresses, jumpsuits, scoop necks, pinafores etc. I am Little Miss Christmas shaped, so they can gape on the top if they fit further down.

I'm a terrible impulse buyer so my other rule is: if I haven't worn it by the end of the return period, I take it back.

ilovetofu · 12/11/2019 13:30

@NancyEspana LOVE love love your lucy & yacks!

ilovetofu · 12/11/2019 13:33

Ordered a pair of these https://www.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/tall-pu-skinny-trousers-9071237
Faux leather leggings in a tall/18 this week - cant wait to see what they look like! Smile

NancyEspana · 12/11/2019 13:49

Thanks @ilovetofu! I love them too Halloween Grin. They are super comfy. I can't wait to wear the grey ones in spring. I don't care if they go out of style. They're just so comfortable.

I wore the teal ones to my friend's dd's birthday party and I'm fairly sure someone thought I was a children's entertainer 😂. Oh well. I love them anyway.

TheSummoningDark · 12/11/2019 14:19

I'm messing about with collages on my phone so I might as well post the results. Trying to decide what to wear on an upcoming rare night out.

I must have bought half of Fat Face recently. I've got most of the pictures from the website to save taking my own.

Fat Face star dress. Belt borrowed from some old Oasis trousers. Wallis pleather jacket, Clarks boots.

Fat Face red dress worn as tunic, velvet trousers, my favourite DM boots from Office, jacket as before.

NancyEspana · 12/11/2019 14:29

Oh, lovely outfits summoning! I slightly prefer the red with the DMs.

picklemepopcorn · 12/11/2019 15:28

I like the red, Summonings- but that may be because I can't see any detail on the black. I like the DMs, too.

Lightuptheroom · 13/11/2019 07:25

Quick question ladies, which colour skirts go with mustard yellow tights and what sort of boots/shoes would you wear (colour/style)

picklemepopcorn · 13/11/2019 08:03

Any autumn colour- olive, russet etc.

Have you got a scarf or similar with mustard in with other colours? That always helps me.
Also, looking on the snag adverts at what they wear!

Boots, I'm not sure. I've got a Rieker ankle boot, Burgundy, with wool trim in mixed autumn colours. But I'm limited as to what I can where on my feet!

NancyEspana · 13/11/2019 08:05

I wear navy with mine or sometimes a real dress @lightuptheroom. If I had burgundy, I think that would go beautifully too!

Look out lads, I'm whipping out the Christmas top today Halloween Grin!

"Merry and Bright" tshirt - Sainsbury's, 20, this season
Jean's- Gap, 10/30 (not sure what that means but it's what it says on the label), last season
Socks - ancient

I'm trying out socks over jeans and ankle boots today. Will maybe wear black chelsea boots.

NancyEspana · 13/11/2019 08:05

Boots I either wear burgundy DMs or brown brogues with mustard tights.

picklemepopcorn · 13/11/2019 08:06

These make wearing snags easier!

I'm having a comfy day so I'm wearing a cotton sweater the in-laws brought in Madeira donkeys years ago and a pair of leisure trousers from Primark. Topped off with a pair of Isotoner slippers.
