I bought an obscenely expensive jacket and I'm not sorry

As a result of late night shopping and feeling sorry for myself infertility I have ended up with a beautiful leather jacket. £300 and I don't care. It's more than I've ever spent on any one thing besides my house and education. My friend said I need to be sectioned. I'm not sure if she's joking Grin

Tell me what have you love and have treated yourself to against your better judgement?

Picture please 😍

which1 · 24/10/2019 21:32

That's fine. I have three leather jackets which were around the £400 mark. They are my most expensive items of clothing. But leather jackets don't come cheap. Shop away!!

AnyFucker · 24/10/2019 21:36

Let's see it then

SagelyNodding · 24/10/2019 21:36

Leather jackets last forever! It's an investment!

Thankssomuch · 24/10/2019 21:38

I’ve bought myself many jackets costing upwards of £300 (£500 max)... don’t regret it in the slightest. I love clothes 😀

Autumnchill · 24/10/2019 21:40

A one off Quba sails coat designed by me. Love it and can't wait for the cold weather so I can wear it again

Redcrayons · 24/10/2019 21:40

Come on then let's have a look.

joystir59 · 24/10/2019 21:41

Just bought some Fly London boots £130 and love them! That's the most I've spent on boots

DeadDoorpost · 24/10/2019 21:41

Not against my better judgement, but I seriously wanted a signed copy of Mein Kampf when DH saw it in an auction. Mainly because I love books, and partly because I love history, so this would have been great for my collection. (Obviously it's not good that it's a terribly racist and horrible book)
As it is, my book collection currently stands at maybe being worth a couple thousand.

I also have hundreds of Pokemon cards. Not sure how much they're worth, but I've got some pretty pricey ones. This is maybe against my better judgement...

I bought a diamond flower shaped ring a few weeks ago when I was feeling very sorry for myself!
I am sure your jacket is fab

I bought a Vivienne Westwood winter coat in 2007. £550 when I was only a few years working in London.

2 pregnancies aside, I've worn it every winter so I think it works out about 50p a wear! Bargain! Or do I tell myself.

MrsGrindah · 24/10/2019 21:49

I am struggling to think about my biggest clothing purchase...possibly my wedding dress at £180 ! But don’t feel guilty OP if you can afford it!

Sigh81 · 24/10/2019 21:49

Good leather will last and last. So, good for you! Blazers, suits and coats are absolutely worth investing in. Have paid £600 or so for the odd vintage skirt suit but the quality, shape and style is absolutely worth it. They are heirloom pieces that I will pass down to my nieces.

Insensitive after the op said she was feeling down about her infertility.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/10/2019 21:53

I once bought a Vivienne Westwood dress totally on the spur of the moment and as I was going to the till I picked up a Westwood skirt and bought that too. That's the most I've ever spent on clothes in one fell swoop and worth every penny.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/10/2019 21:55

Hope your jacket brings you joy. I've just splurged on a beautiful but very impractical leather jacket but I know I'll feel happy whenever I wear it.

TheBeesKnee · 24/10/2019 22:05

It's the All Saints Rigby Lux Biker jacket in size 12.

Here is me wearing it in the shop about a week ago when I decided it was too expensive and I should just definitely leave it.

If you love it and you can afford it then why on earth would you feel guilty? People would happily spend a fortune on holidays, home improvements, cars etc etc - I can't see why a well made coat that will last for years and bring you pleasure is any more frivolous.

Looks great on you op. I hope you get loads of use out of it.

WanderingTrolley1 · 24/10/2019 22:19

Blimey...

Letthemysterybe · 24/10/2019 22:22

Very cool OP.

Sunshineboo · 24/10/2019 22:24

That looks fab and really suits your style in that pic. Love your hair! Enjoy it and ignore your friend.

georgialondon · 24/10/2019 22:25

It's a perfectly reasonable amount to spend on a cost you could wear for years. Enjoy it
