Are these too small? Am I too large?

Basically, does my arse look big in this!! Asking because I kind of like them, but they feel a bit tight in the front even though there's a gap of 2finger widths between my back and the waistband, so surely the next size up would fall down? and I don't want to be a 14

So, mumsnet stylists, are they wearable?

(They are properly black, but I lightened the photos so you can see the detail on screen)

They are still a smidgen tight across the hips and these ones look very big on the legs to me. But they're fine. They aren't perfect, but they're fine. What exactly are they for please op? Could you try cords in a different shape maybe or similar ones from a different shop?

SpookilyBadOooooooh · 22/10/2019 11:22

They look nice 😊

But are they comfortable?

I’m still in deep envy over your figure...mines long gone 😢

I can’t believe you’ve had a baby too and several months bed rest and still have a fab figure.

Nothing is going to look awful, just find something that doesn’t irritate your scar and is comfortable 😊

MrsPMT · 22/10/2019 13:44

I liked the black ones better (Sorry OP!)

But you do have a lovely figure, mine was like that about maybe 15 years ago GrinEnvy

Have you tried H & M, some of my best fitting jeans/cords have come from there, and I'm curvy (but with a flat bum now Sad), although you really have to ignore the size on the hanger and just find some that fit (if you are normally a 12 you will need at least a 14).

Wish I looked like you op!

BlackTrousers · 22/10/2019 15:20

No, they're not from Esprit. They're these ones

Unfortunately my baby is 7 years old so I can't use that as an excuse. The belly seems to be the problem though! They feel comfy, comfier than the others did. And they're square Shock and the largest size I can get hold of.

I haven't managed to find any in town, H&M had nothing that was bootcut.

They look great- love the colour too.

Justgivemesomepeace · 22/10/2019 18:02

They look lovely. You look really good in them. Just need different knickers on.

ThanksForAllTheFish · 22/10/2019 18:42

I think the problem with the fit isn’t that they are too small/tight but too low rise. That black pair was miles below your belly button, the brown pair is better but I’m not a fan of the pockets or colour. They are very early 2000’s with the low rise waistband. These days most people go high rise or mid rise which is why I think people are saying they look too small.

TheOrigRightsofwomen · 22/10/2019 22:17

Have you tried sitting down in them? If they are a bit snug around the thigh they might be really uncomfortable sitting down in them.
I think if there are creases around the crotch area it means they're not a great fit. I'd say if you were wearing with a chunky jumper that would be OK, but then that kind of defeats the object of them being fitted around the bum.

Daisyboobooboo · 23/10/2019 01:55

Your bum is not big at all. They look lovely. Nothing wrong with larger bums anyway.

NightsOfCabiria · 24/10/2019 07:55

I dont think the low cut, bootcut shape is doing your lovely figure any favours.

Try John Lewis and go for a higher waisted, slimmer leg style.

ScarlettDarling · 24/10/2019 08:03

I much preferred the black ones, sorry op.

GeorgianaDovesHouse · 24/10/2019 13:21

The OP has a great figure. From some of the comments here, I wonder if I’m looking at the same photos.Hmm

Yoollyball · 24/10/2019 13:31

Have you tried Sainsbury's- they often have cord stuff in and are largely very good quality - is 25% off atm too

BlackTrousers · 24/10/2019 13:45

go for a higher waisted, slimmer leg style.

I have ginormous feet and anything with straight or slim leg looks ridiculous on me.

I can sit comfortably, but I have sent them back and swapped them for a dark navy pair (which weren't there when I initially ordered the brown ones) which are more forgiving.
these ones look very big on the legs to me. But they're fine. They aren't perfect, but they're fine. What exactly are they for please op? Fine will do me. I need spare on the legs as I've a scar running down my leg. There's so I don't scare people when I go out Shock

If I am being honest they probably are a bit tight. However, that's enough! I am trying to watch what I eat though and they don't make them larger. And I can now wash my other trousers without having to plan an entire day inside. Thank you.

I preferred the black ones.

Paraballa · 24/10/2019 13:54

They're a bit too tight around the top of the thigh and the hip. You can tell by how the fabric is pulling. Unfortunately the next size up would probably be too big and need altering. I don't think the cut is right for you.
You don't look fat at all but they aren't flattering you.
