Are these too small? Am I too large?

Basically, does my arse look big in this!! Asking because I kind of like them, but they feel a bit tight in the front even though there's a gap of 2finger widths between my back and the waistband, so surely the next size up would fall down? and I don't want to be a 14

So, mumsnet stylists, are they wearable?

(They are properly black, but I lightened the photos so you can see the detail on screen)

They look really nice OP, would definitely be keeping them Smile

Ohyesiam · 15/10/2019 12:17

You have the most lovely figure.

Velveteenfruitbowl · 15/10/2019 12:17

They really don’t fit at all but they may settle in once they’ve stretched a bit. Tbh most trousers won’t fit due to the nature of the garment unless you come across some that happen be made to your exact measurements. Normally shops make up for this with stretch but that doesn’t seem to be the case with these. But some trousers stretch over the course of the day. I would suggest wearing them around the house with the tag still in to see if they settle into your figure.

GeorgianaDovesHouse · 15/10/2019 12:19

I really did think the jeans were being modelled, initially.

dontgobaconmyheart · 15/10/2019 12:36

Sorry OP I don't think the fit is great at all, in a few areas really- you could do better- your figure is great, your bum doesn't look 'big' at all!

I wouldn't keep trousers that showed a knicker line like that though, unless you've got a stash of no VPL pants or thongs (no trousers would compel me to wear a thong) and the low rise on them looks like you'd spend your life yanking them up as they sit at an awkward point.

Just because something doesn't fit doesn't mean your body shape is wrong or too big/small. It's just the cut of the trousers.

Miseryisabutterfly · 15/10/2019 13:07

I think you just need different underwear with them. They look a good fit to me.

managedmis · 15/10/2019 13:09

You need either no or different underwear

BlackTrousers · 15/10/2019 13:23

Short pants

No vpl

sheshootssheimplores here. I don't think I'd have to keep pulling them up, but it's hard to tell unless you wear them for longer than trying on.

Are these too small? Am I too large?

It's fine Mirrors123, I did want to hear all opinions.

I can't see your knickers ( it's the sort of thing I worry about, blame my mum). Grin yes, here too, never go out with your knicker line or your bra strap showing!

And how many times do you look at other size 12 women and think "My God, look at the arse on her!
To be honest, I wouldn't have a clue what size other people are. I'm not the most observant of people. But I don't want people staring at me because they can see my pants!

You need either no or different underwear
ShockShock People don't actually go out wearing no underwear do they?

Nope I don’t think they do anything for you. I think something with a higher waist would be better and not so tight on the thighs.

AliciaQuays · 15/10/2019 13:42

The bum looks great. Too flappy on your thighs tho

AliciaQuays · 15/10/2019 13:42

Maybe just don’t wear knickers?

ISmellBabies · 15/10/2019 13:46

You look great! I suspect you might look great in everything though, so only keep them if you feel good in them.

MariahDontCarey · 15/10/2019 13:47

You have a great figure op! I have total flat tummy envy EnvyGrin!

But, I don't like those trousers all that much tbh... they do pull a bit weirdly at the front, which makes them look a bit uncomfortable? I definitely think it's the trousers being a weird cut, rather than you being "large"! You are far from large!

MariahDontCarey · 15/10/2019 13:50

They are a bit flappy on your thighs. Just noticed that when a pp pointed it out.

I'm being really picky here though. If they are in the sale and you just need black trousers for work or whatever, then I'd definitely go for it. If they're pricey and for a special event or going out, I think you could do better.

walkintheparc · 15/10/2019 13:54

I don't think lower slung trousers work that well on anyone, I'm fan of a higher waist, sorry OP.

NiteFlights · 15/10/2019 13:55

I’m not sure. Your bum doesn’t look big - it looks very good actually - but the trousers are tight around your bum and tops of thighs and it doesn’t quite do you justice. If they soften up without the waistband becoming too loose they’ll be fine. Don’t get me wrong, you look good in them, but in a slightly differently cut trouser you’d look absolutely fantastic.

BillieEilish · 15/10/2019 14:04

You look brilliant! Lovely bum.

Keep in mind they will end up a bit stretched and probably a bit baggy until you wash them. I would definitely NOT get next size up.

Tippexy · 15/10/2019 14:04

Ridiculous fishing thread.

AthollPlace · 15/10/2019 14:10

I’d say the style isn’t a great fit for your shape, considering the hips are tight but the waistband has a gap. And if you size up to get the hips to fit, the waistband will be huge. Perhaps you need a more curvy style and these are more of a straight style. I have the same problem - my waist is a lot smaller than my hips. Sometimes I just have to rule out particular clothes (or even a whole shop!) that doesn’t cater for my proportions. I find M&S jeans are cut more for a curvy shape.

MariahDontCarey · 15/10/2019 14:12

Oh who bloody cares if it is a fishing thread? What's wrong with complimenting someone?

Anyway, I've just looked at them on the link you posted and they don't like right on the model either imo. I just don't think they're great trousers... nothing to do with you and your FAB FIGURE!

Bouledeneige · 15/10/2019 14:13

They look good and you have a great figure. Just make sure you can comfortably sit and bend down - that kind of fabric doesn't always have a lot of give in it. I wouldn't personally worry about a VPL. Who cares these days? I stand behind a lot of people on tube escalators clearly wearing thongs (thinking they are less visible) - and that looks far tackier.

Milkstick · 15/10/2019 14:48

They look fine on you but I wouldn't be abke to bend in a pair like this because my arse would be out in a flash. This style is too low for me. I'd squat down and test them. I'm also tempted to post a photo of my at least sz 14 arse because I like it and it's bigger than yours, which makes it neither better or worse, I just feel like sticking up for those of us bigger than a 12. I'm a 10 up top with narrow shoulders which just adds to the whole effect and means I HATE JUMPSUITS 😁
