Stephanie of Lux has the most amazing citrine tiara but still looks somehow matronly and dowdy.

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/10/2019 09:08

Stephanie's clothes are never great, in comparison her MiL always looks fabulous. But I've gone off the Luxembourgers(??) after the way Tessy was treated during her divorce.

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/10/2019 09:11

I do feel for Stephanie though, as I'm sure she and her husband (Guillame?) are under pressure to produce an heir and have been married for several years. He's got brothers who have children so the line won't die out but I don't know what the press are like in Luxembourg- I shudder to think what the Sun or Mail would've written had William and Kate not had a child by now.

Heaven helps anyone who decides to get back to pre baby shape or naturally lose weight fast.

There is a huge difference between the two. She obviously doesn’t lose weight naturally and instead has to work at it. She hasn’t confirmed to the ‘celeb culture’ of working at losing the baby weight fast. I really admire her because being in the public eye, there is an expectation that women will be pre pregnancy weight and lighter three months after giving birth and she has said no to that. I admire her for it and it is refreshing to see a woman who advocates women’s rights refusing to conform to what people expect when they have zero right to do so.

Mathilde looks fab in her magenta frock with its swirling pleats!

That’s a spiteful comment Bertrand.

For some reason, this dress came up in my Facebook ads and I thought of Kate. She'll be getting her PA to buy it as we speak!

Queen your link didn’t work for me but I suddenly keep getting Wolf and Badger ads too (never heard of them!). Their dresses look quite nice and quite a few put me in mind of Kate/Meghan. I wonder if the one you were trying to link to was one I’d mentally picked out for Kate!

Hairydilemma · 16/10/2019 10:07

NorthenLurker ‘Dr Quinn Medicine Woman’ 😂😂

What in the hell with those lab coats?? I’m actually laughing!

queenofarles · 16/10/2019 10:27

What is Kate wearingConfused

doyoureallyneedtoask that’s fine, no one is judging her if she wants to keep her weight or take longer to lose it, her choice, but how does that make her better than others who do? How is she a better advocate for women rights just because she didn’t lose weight fast, are other women less outspoken feminists because they dared to lose weight.
lose weight and you get criticised for it, keep your weight and you are hailed a hero Hmm

RoseQuartzGlow · 16/10/2019 10:29

I love that dress Queen, it would look amazing on Kate.

Hairydilemma · 16/10/2019 10:29

Oh definitely! They have some lovely things, tho not that cheap. This is a bit of Meghan, I think:

Inclined to agreequeenofthefairies .What I don't understand is why Meghan doesn't wear better fitting clothes .

TokyoSushi · 16/10/2019 10:45

As you say, let's hope it's some sort of camouflage/security reason and not just a hideous outfit for Kate today!

Doyoureallyneedtoask · 16/10/2019 10:49

how does that make her better than others who do?

Society/celeb culture is often the catalyst for women feeling the pressure to look like they have never been pregnant. She is in the public eye and hasn’t conformed to this way of thinking which has gone against the grain. That takes strength of character as in her position with servants/personal nutritionists/personal chefs and so forth she could be back to her pre pregnancy body a lot easier than most women but she has said no. Does that make her ‘better’ than other feminists? Who suggested it does? Does it make her refreshingly different from the usual celeb culture. Yes it does and I admire her for it.

BertrandRussell · 16/10/2019 11:03

It doesn’t make her better. But we do live in a society where looking as if you’ve not had a baby 2 months after you have is considered “good womaning” and looking as if you have is considered “bad womaning”. You only have to glance at the tabloid press to see that. It’s good to see a woman in the public eye not conforming to this narrative.

RoseQuartzGlow · 16/10/2019 11:12

I’m not a Meghan fan but I find it really refreshing that she hasn’t just snapped back either. She’s gradually getting back to pre pregnancy shape but I wish she’d wear clothes that fit her shape now instead of clothes that are two sizes too small. I think her shape has changed fundamentally too , so maybe she needs to rethink the type of thing she should wear. Also ditch all those belted coats and dresses.

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/10/2019 11:39

Maybe she was trying to be understated. Had she donned a glitzy gown then she'd have been accused of trying to steal Kate's thunder!

“ Maybe she was trying to be understated. Had she donned a glitzy gown then she'd have been accused of trying to steal Kate's thunder!”

There’s actually a thread active at the moment saying she’s trying to detract from W&K by wearing a dress she’s worn before! Grin

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 16/10/2019 11:51

I don't see that NOT getting back into shape is something Meghan should be praised for.

Neither should she be criticised.

But people are in danger of lionising her for something which may not be an active choice.

The clothes and shoes she is choosing to wear don't say "I'm proud of my post baby body".

Whattheother2catsprefer · 16/10/2019 11:52

We don't actually know that her lack of "snapping back" is a conscious decision thought do we? It might just not have happen for her despite her best efforts. I've known plenty of women who looked like they'd never been pregnant days after giving birth and many more (me included) who take much, much longer to get back in shape- my mum wore tight non stretch 1970's jeans (the type that often involved lying on the bed to do up) home from having me while my godmother looked about 6 month pregnant at my baptism - her son is 8 months older than me. I think how much weight you gain and where you gain it has a huge impact on how long it takes to "snap back" as do genes and body type.

The BBC has some good pics of Kate & Will as they carry on up the Khyber. I like Kate's outfit, very practical and suitable for the Hindu Kush, it must be quite cool there, the glacier expert talking to them is well wrapped up, so Kate must be glad of her boots and culottes, Will must be wishing he'd worn his fleece! Wink
