Hi guys,
I love browsing the what are you wearing today thread but being plussize (Size 26) I often can't take inspiration from it. I wondered if any other size 18+ would like to share what they are wearing today?

@NancyEspana you have great legs and should definitely wear short skirts!

Those asking for ideas, I don't really have any yet. I was hoping someone might say "oh I bought/saw this great dress/jumper recently that might work".

Colour wise I am thinking dark greens, burnt orange, browns, dark yellow/mustard sort of colours. I need to look at what clothes the kids have already as I don't plan to buy new stuff for everyone. I do need some new winter bits so doing mind getting something for me.

I was wondering about just doing jeans + jumper, I saw this jumper by White Stuff and thought it might be quite a good look with boots. My one worry with jumpers is whether they will make my bum look massive. Although hopefully the photographer will choose flattering angles! www.whitestuff.com/womens/tunics-and-kaftans/ginger-orange-juniper-tunic/

I look like a right scruffy munter today, but I haven't been out as DS has been home ill.

Has anyone bought anything from EBay recently? I'm in desperate need of some new tops, I'm fairly tall ( 5ft 7) and size 20/22 so like something long. I've seen some nice long sleeve jumper dresses but can't decide what the quality will be like

justchecking1 · 22/10/2019 17:52

Nancy your legs are awesome!! I'm very jealous

I'm also loving the increase in confidence in this thread, I love seeing everyone's photos and getting inspired. Group high five ✋

Today I'm wearing an old phase eight dress and even older Clarke's boots. I'm rubbish at decluttering my wardrobe. Every now and then I sort out a bag of clothes for the charity shop but they usually just end up being stored under the bed and then gradually reincorporated into my closet 🤦🏻‍♀️

Oh nearly forgot, size 16/18 and 5'7. I'm quite hour glassy from the front but more apple from the side

There's a sale on at lindybop & a couple of potential nice Christmas jumpers on there. I have them in my basket but spent a fortune recently between this & the Christmas bargain thread & hate to pay p&p

@SisterSistine that jumper is nice but looks a little bulky maybe. Have you a plain cotton/merino/cashmere kicking about? Another thing - try to avoid stripes for photo shoots & wear your best colours near your face. A good lipstick too - do you know if you suit orange or blue toned red? Go & try on a couple- if you go & ask at Mac & try lady danger-orange red & ruby woo-blue red. Then go outside into natural light & take a photo of both & you'll soon work it out. Makeup should be emphasised for photos as it doesn't come across as much as it looks like. When my sil who's a beautician did my trial wedding makeup I remember saying 'I look like Katie bloody Price!' But looked good on photos

SisterSistine · 22/10/2019 18:48

I don't suit red lipstick at all, it makes my lips look really thin. I'm fine with make up though, one thing I am ok at!

I did wonder about the chunkiness. I don't like thin jumpers though as I always find they cling to bits I'd rather they didn't cling too.

Daddylonglegs1965 · 22/10/2019 19:56

I quite like the jumper and would wear it with a big autumnal scarf

buckeejit · 22/10/2019 23:02

For a photoshoot I'd wear some control undergarments though think I'm through with them for anything else. Always feels like I'm pulling at them or just find them uncomfortable

Titsywoo · 22/10/2019 23:21

This is a great thread! Love your dress justchecking. I'm terrible stylewise and dress for comfort far too much. I work from home 3 days a week so tend to slob around in pjs then and I end up at my allotment after work on the other days so don't dress up as there's no point! I am trying to wear more dresses as I'm starting to think trousers don't suit me. I'm a 5ft 3 pearshaped size 18 (measurements 44, 38, 48). I'm pretty happy with my body to be honest. I wish my belly was smaller but everything else I like. One of the reasons I don't lose weight is because I like having big boobs too much! Anyway am getting lots of good ideas from this post and will start getting braver with my clothes choices at weekends. I think I defiantly need a wardrobe sort out as i dont wear 60% of It!

PlaymobilPirate · 22/10/2019 23:34

@Luaa where's your green cord mini from please??

NormaLouiseBates · 23/10/2019 00:07

Great thread! I'm surprised there haven't been more mentions of ASOS. It's my go to and probably 75% of my wardrobe is from there! I've just ordered this for a special night out in a couple of weeks (I'm 45, 5'4" and size 24-26), it'll be here tomorrow. If it looks good I'll post a photo 😊

NormaLouiseBates · 23/10/2019 00:08

Attaching the photo might have helped HmmBlush

Don’t get rid of any pink jumpers.... you’ll definitely regret that! Hmm

I have been on a mission to clear out my clothes or wear them. I’ve got the Style book app and would love to be able to play around with outfit ideas ( I commute 2 hours a day ) but I need a whole day probably to photograph everything. I think the coat hangers trick is a good one to see if somethings been worn. ( putting them the “ wrong” way on the pole)

FredaFrogspawn · 23/10/2019 06:29

As an older woman with huge norks, can I chuck
www.lagenlookclothinguk.co.uk
into the mix?

Recently discovered them for long tops - I love the plain fabrics, cotton and linen particularly, and the length is just right for me. They aren’t badly priced.

ThinkWittyThoughts · 23/10/2019 06:52

Thanks @FredaFrogspawn for the recommendation. Can I ask how tall you are?

Today I have on khaki T-shirt, denim skirt, tights & white capped trainers, with mustard scarf & dark red biker jacket. I feel like I'm in my twenties again (but I'm not quite 40 yet).

This thread is inspiring me to dress better but still feel comfortable. Thanks everyone!

FredaFrogspawn · 23/10/2019 06:58

I’m 5’5’’.

The website doesn’t really do the clothes justice I think - they feel less sack like on but maybe that’s because I’m a size 22 on top and the models look like size 10-12s! The natural fabrics are much more comfortable for menopause than the Yours/Evans typical fabrics.

FredaFrogspawn · 23/10/2019 07:01

Having said that, I have more of the summer stuff in linen and cotton. Only have one winter top from there which looks nice but it arrived yesterday so I haven’t worn it yet. Might post a pic later if I feel brave!

Luaa · 23/10/2019 07:08

@PlaymobilPirate it's from Debenhams

Daddylonglegs1965 · 23/10/2019 07:12

Thanks Freda I am 6ft and love a lot of the fabrics in the lagenlook style also menopausal here. But at 6ft things are cut for someone more of your height than mine. I ordered a pinafore from Amazon yesterday. I love a lot of the ones on sale at Sainsburys but I am sure they would look in decent on someone of my height 😂

Divebar · 23/10/2019 08:26

Morning. I like lagenlook and I enjoy oversized pieces but they don’t do my figure justice really. I like natural fabrics too but I’m not a slave to it. First outing today for this pleated skirt which I thrifted ( code for from a charity shop). This ones too long actually I had to roll it over at the top. It’s not quite as bright as it’s showing here. It was £3. I’m wearing with a cashmere sweater which I’ve had for about 8 / 9 years. The boots are Jones and are pony skin. The fuzzy coat is also thrifted £8.

FredaFrogspawn · 23/10/2019 08:27

Looks lovely. And I’m going to steal the verb to thrift!

picklemepopcorn · 23/10/2019 08:38

I wear a lot of lagenlook type clothes. I have to be careful about looking like a garage balloon though! It works great for a floaty dress on a hot day.

calilark · 23/10/2019 09:03

Hello, just found this thread and IT IS BLOODY AMAZING. 5'5" and a 22/24, in need of stylish clothes.

Has anyone seen a decent thick jersey/ponte skirt with an elasticated waist? I have a v useful one from New Look but it is thin jersey and shows every bump, plus gets easily misshapen. TIA Smile

NancyEspana · 23/10/2019 09:19

calilark, I got a lovely, thick Jersey skirt from M&S in the summer. I'll see if I can find it and link.

justchecking, ah thank you! I am jealous of your cool, feminine style! I am not at a feminine 😂. I always look a bit odd if I aim for feminine. The way you make it look cool and not OTT girly is fab.

Gap girlfriend jeans - bought about two months ago, size 10/30 Tall
Long line vest top, M&S - bought about four months ago, size 14
V neck jumper, Very - bought about a year ago, size 16/18
Boots - DM size 7, eBay purchase
Necklace - charity shop
