Hi guys,
I love browsing the what are you wearing today thread but being plussize (Size 26) I often can't take inspiration from it. I wondered if any other size 18+ would like to share what they are wearing today?

Good idea longlegs!

I am 5'8".

My jeans are a 34" waist, 32" leg. My t-shirt is large and my thermals are a medium, but I think they are unisex. High tops are a 41.

NancyEspana · 21/10/2019 16:42

None of my clothing (except snag tights, high tops and the Lucy and Yak dungarees I posted up thread) is new, although some of it is new to me iyswim. I buy mainly secondhand, including shoes.

Divebar · 21/10/2019 16:53

I have such luck in finding great boots and shoes in charity shops ( mostly new). I’m a shoe whisperer.

Adollop · 21/10/2019 17:21

I've just moved, so need to check out the local charity shops!

ThinkWittyThoughts · 21/10/2019 17:31

@buckeejit you look gorgeous!

I love that outfit & want it for myself.

I'm in navy jeggings, joules blue & white stripped dress, and mustard scarf thingy (technical, me) plus some sneaker things in blue & white.

Super comfy but I wish I had snag tights instead of jeggings. They're on my Christmas list but maybe I should put in a pre-order...

NancyEspana · 21/10/2019 17:32

Ooooooh divebar, I envy your skills Envy!

I usually do well with dresses and skirts in charity shops. Shoes and jeans etc, I can only wear or only like certain types, so I tend to get those off eBay. The only issue with that is p&p plus the sea of fake looking stuff!

NancyEspana · 21/10/2019 17:33

buck

You look amazing! I love your coat as well as the outfit underneath.

buckeejit · 21/10/2019 17:57

Thanks! I recommend a trip to Asda today to browse the clothes if you can make it! I'm 5' 8" & size 20/22. Dress is last year new look, belt current from Asda but picked up another brown leather double buckle one for £6 in Asda today.

I have to present & talk about wine to my wine club tomorrow night so contemplating outfits as I'm petrified-don't do public speaking! 😬

I'm after some similar knee length dresses in autumnal colours now I know it's fairly successful!

NancyEspana · 21/10/2019 18:24

ringlets

I selfishly want you to get a bigger mirror, so I can thieve your outfit ideas, as I think we're a similar shape Grin.

buckeejit · 21/10/2019 19:18

Ooh @peachgreen I've seen that coat in Sainsbury's & it's absolutely my colour but I thought it would be too bulky for me-will maybe take another look if you say it's not too heavy.

Just tried on my bargain Asda dress -£6 & I love it! Might be my new favourite. Total impulse pick on the way out - I probably wouldn't have lifted it before I was looking at & loving the Kemi Telford site after being mentioned on here. Also it has breast pockets that always emphasise my huge boobs but don't think they're noticeable on this due to the pattern. Ok for a presentation?

buckeejit · 21/10/2019 19:19

Oops -photo would help...

For those of you looking at Tu clothing, I think the 25% off deal starts this week

peachgreen · 21/10/2019 21:46

@buckeejit No it's not bulky at all, it's very light and draped nicely though it looks awful done up on me! Looking at your (lovely!) outfit photo I'd say we're a similar shape so I think it would work well. Had a bonkers day so didn't get a photo but will try again tomorrow!

peachgreen · 21/10/2019 21:47

That dress is lush. I have a blouse in the same fabric (also Asda) and really love it.

NancyEspana · 21/10/2019 21:58

buckeejit

What?! £6?? That's a total bargain!

Looks great on you. Definitely fine for the wine club presentation. What is your speciality btw? I am doing sober October and am really looking forward to a glass in November.

Divebar · 21/10/2019 22:21

Has anybody ever suffered “ Marie Kondo” regret? I’ve just been trying to find a non black outfit for tomorrow and realised that the pink jumper that would have been perfect is no longer in my possession because I cleared it out. Real moment of low morale 😩

NancyEspana · 21/10/2019 22:32

divebar

Oh that sucks!

Yeah, I've had this so much. I get a bit trigger happy when I'm clearing out my wardrobe and then I overdo it!

I've started now clearing out my wardrobe, but not actually fully getting rid of the clothes iyswim. So I keep a small selection in my wardrobe and then store the rest in the loft. It's working so far and I'm getting quite good at sticking to a few colours at a time - it's easier to do that when you don't have to send something lovely to the charity shop, just because it's the wrong colour for your capsule wardrobe!

If I find I am not needing the stuff out of storage for a year or so, I will then get rid of it.

I have to do it this way, because otherwise I get total wardrobe clear out regret!

buckeejit · 21/10/2019 23:10

Kondo regret is one of my nightmares! Read the book years ago & little by little do it, but regret getting rid of my granny's real fur coat. I never wore it, (my friends would probably have thrown blood at me!) but I might now - doubt it though, but still miss the option to if I wanted to!

I have to be very sure if I chuck something & do it based on outings of the garment & quality. I'm lucky that we have a box room that I use as a dressing room & have too much stuff in there.

@NancyEspana I have no speciality whatsoever-actually know fa but love wine & we have a great local club. While writing notes on my wine, (Circumstance Sauvignon -a biodynamic stellenbosh), I've fallen down a rabbit hole of discovering that true biodynamic producers fill cow horns with manure & bury them for a while before digging them up & spreading the compost around the vineyard! Not sure how my love of that weirdness is going to go down 😂

Back on topic - I'm now in need of good quality camisoles & a knee(ish) length slip to wear under all my new dresses so looking for recommendations!

ChunkyKnit · 21/10/2019 23:13

Thanks to whomever suggested Seasalt. I’d looked at their stuff online before but wasn’t sure of sizing. I’m not in the UK so didn’t want to make an expensive mistake that would cost a lot to send back. Thanks to this thread I bit the bullet and bought two lovely tops and a pair of trousers. I’m very much an apple so the trousers are too baggy on the legs, but lovely fabric so keeping them for lounging/beach walks. The tops are lovely material and feel so much nicer than my usual Evans fare.

Today, I’m wearing this tunic/dress from yumi.co.uk with thick black leggings as tights, and black ankle boots. It’s a hedgehog print. They’re wearing little hats Grin

I’m a size 26, 5’ 11” and the hedgehog dress is currently available. Because of my height, I’m definitely treating it as more of a tunic top than a dress.

ringletsandtwiglets · 21/10/2019 23:27

@chunkyknit I LOVE that dress!! I’ve been wavering over the Seasalt clothes too. Are the tops a good fit for an apple shape?

@NancyEspana You are all kinds of cool. I’ll do some mirror research. ☺️

buckeejit · 21/10/2019 23:58

@ChunkyKnit - love that & love that they're wearing hats!!

Hope it's not to early to start thinking about Christmas jumpers. I have an orangey red fairisle style one from H&M several years ago but since not found anything that I really like fairly cheap!

MrsPnut · 22/10/2019 07:44

Chunkyknit, we could be almost twins except I am a 26 on the top and a 22 on the bottom.
I love that Yumi dress and would also wear it as a tunic.

Today is an office day, blue trousers, blue patterned cotton top and blue cardigan because I haven't tackled the ironing pile yet.

Divebar · 22/10/2019 08:48

Hey morning all. I know what you’re thinking.... I’ve really gone overboard with the colour! I know right? !!! The jumper’s forest green and is the best I can rustle up at the moment. The skirt is neoprene and is “ sexy sexy” with any kind of heel so naturally i paired it with my Dr Martens ( I don’t feel like wiggling around even if it would make my legs looked better). I was going to wear the biker jacket but swapped it out for a smarter green coat which sadly contained a spider ( I was unaware until I felt it on my arm inside the sleeve.... sadly the spider did not survive the encounter). Red lipstick and a silver cuff finishes it off. Oh and I’m a size 16/18 and 5’6”

Looking fab, @Divebar! I think photos often make clothes look darker, so I can definitely see that the green would show up more in real life.

Love, love, loving the hedgehog Yumi dress! Would be straight in to buy that if I wasn't breastfeeding, as it's right up my street.

Divebar · 22/10/2019 09:24

Hey ladies! Someone has started a thread in need of plus size party wear. Anyone got any suggestions to add? ( her ex is going to be there!)
