Maybe it’s a subliminal message! 😮

Ninkaninus · 01/10/2019 11:20

Heh yes I did notice there was more than a few outings for that particular hat!

I think we were talking about this a couple of days ago? Having someone with power and influence taking an interest is, in itself, a massive improvement.

BlingLoving · 01/10/2019 12:12

I ike the colour on CPM but not wild about the waist line. Embracing autumn at this time of year is definitely the best part about October IMO.

banivani · 01/10/2019 12:42

Great link, Nink (had to shorten your name for the rhyme).

I don't love Meghan's beige dress either - it's not offensive but seems like the sort of garment you'd keep around for its inoffensiveness andsurebeigegoeswithanything-ness and then kondo out of your life ;)

BlingLoving · 01/10/2019 12:42

Does anyone know why the Court Circular is not reporting on Meghan's activities in Cape Town? Here's yesterday's report:

Lots about harry but not her visit yesterday?

banivani · 01/10/2019 12:44

This QM look is great!

Ninkaninus · 01/10/2019 13:04

@banivani Nink is generally what people call me on here for ease and convenience (and of course also for rhyming purposes) and I like it so that’s just fine!

beanaseireann · 01/10/2019 14:00

Isn't it so weird that the second wife of the brother of the Crown Prince of Denmark looks so like Crown Princess Mary.
Something very Freudian there. Smile

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/10/2019 14:02

Oh yes, I've always said that, and that CPM could do an AIBU "to find it weird that BiL has married a woman with almost the same name as me who looks like me too"!

OP posts:
Ninkaninus · 01/10/2019 14:03

Yes it’s a recurring theme on these threads.

Their names are Mary and Marie, they look very alike and they’ve also got birthdays one day apart.

I don’t think it’s necessarily Freudian - I think Joachim just went for a woman who’s quite different from his first wife.

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/10/2019 14:23

Far more Freudian is Carl Philip of Sweden marrying a woman who's a dead ringer for his mum when she was young!

More of the same from Meghan this afternoon. She never met a belt tie she didn't love!

I like that dress.

Horsemad · 01/10/2019 14:57

Quite a lot of men choose partners who are like their mum, or themselves even, don't they?

I look like I should be my MIL's DD and DH & I are/(were when younger) very similar looking - a few people remarked how alike we were... 🤔

Ninkaninus · 01/10/2019 14:58

It could be that she’s using it as a bit of a security blanket/feels it detracts from her tummy. She’s used to being ultra slim - she might not feel completely confident about aesthetics in regards to her midsection, given that she’s thick waisted anyway. One can be an empowered, confident woman and still feel self conscious about perceived flaws in one’s figure (or conscious that others will perceive it that way). If it makes her feel better/more put together/whatever I don’t see anything wrong with her wearing it. Or maybe she just really likes that style and doesn’t actually care that it’s supposedly not the most flattering!

Ninkaninus · 01/10/2019 14:58

I think the green dress is very nice. It’s such a good colour on her.

beanaseireann · 01/10/2019 15:12

I'll probably be flamed for this but I thought Meghan had a look of Kim Kardashian in one of the photos of her in the beige Banana Republic dress.

Spudlet · 01/10/2019 15:15

Definitely prefer the green dress to the beige. Green is such a good colour for her.

VeniceBeach · 01/10/2019 15:16

The beige dress reminds me of this trench coat dress she wore in September last year. That one was much nicer I think but maybe too formal for today. The green is a better colour but belted dresses aren’t her thing imo.

AudacityOfHope · 01/10/2019 15:17

Nink, I love that - yes, she might just be choosing clothes she likes over anything else.

It's taken me to the age of 40 to even consider wearing clothes that I enjoy, rather than make me look slimmer. I keep saying to myself 'the sole purpose of clothes is not to make me look skinnier' but it's really hard to wrap my head around.

itswinetime · 01/10/2019 15:24

Lots of catching up to do... I liked the blue dress on Meghan yesterday nothing amazing but it didn't have a belt which was nice and I liked the red shoes an nice touch! The beige dress it's self wasn't bad but it's the wrong colour for her definitely, the green dress is ok but a bit similar to her other looks so far for me.

I know it wasn't that type of tour but I'm a bit disappointed there were no gowns or even cocktail dresses this tour, I hope the Pakistan tour with William and Kate has a bit more glamour I need something to last me till the next properly formal event which is looking a long way off!

frugalkitty · 01/10/2019 15:34

I like the green dress this afternoon much more than the beige one this morning, that just didn't look right. I think her problem is that belts aren't great if you're short waisted, they don't slim you, rather, they add bulk and don't necessarily sit in the right place. I have the same problem but for the opposite reason, I'm long in the waist so ore often than not the belt is not on my natural waist and is just annoying as it doesn't sit right, even with things like dressing gowns.

Meghan reminds me of my SIL who also has very slim legs jealous but a short, boxy torso. The two bits of her body aren't evenly matched so she ends up looking a bit dumpy sometimes, even though she really isn't (my SIL is about 5"2 and wears a 2.5 shoe!) it's just that with super skinny legs, she's not balanced quite right so looks bigger body-wise than she actually is. I used to have the opposite problem, in that I have rather chunky legs (even when I'm skinny), but a slimmer body, which is harder to work with in my experience...I'd love slim legs!!!

QueenOfTheAndals · 01/10/2019 15:55

There's a reception with the SA president tomorrow so we may see a glamorous frock. But I don't think it's an evening event as they're flying back tomorrow night.

Mathilde and CPM both looked amazing in the photos earlier. That berry is perfect on CPM and I'm coveting the red.
