Another Diana salwar kameez photo.

I love them (and other clothes from the Indian subcontinent). I have many friends and colleagues with a South Asian background, so I have been lucky enough to be invited to weddings and wear their traditional wedding clothing. Everyone always looks fantastic in very beautiful and glamorous pieces that no European gowns seem to be able to match (Diana's were just the 90s day ones).

My friends have said that they would love to see Kate in a salwar kameez or similar outfit. She would look great, especially in a bright shade.

After much thought, I've decided I definitely could wear Queen Soraya's gigantic diamond. I'd just make it work.

Your determination is admirable.

Meghan’s aquamarine ring is gorgeous.

I think Beatrice and Eugenie just follow Sarah’s lead and wear flat comfy shoes, which are a bit quirky. I’ve seen all of them especially the princesses in heels quite often.
In the 80s, most women wore pretty low shoes. Big influencer was Diana who was very tall and Charles was about the same height.
It was really only in the late 90s I think that women started wearing heels a lot more. (I blame SATC, specifically Carrie Bradshaw and her Jimmy Choos)

TSSDNCOP · 05/10/2019 14:04

Trouble is Curly you need to be careful in flats if you’re tall with long narrow feet like Diana. I can tell you I used to wear similar shoes (same height, build and feet) and it used to look like I had either tacos on my feet or all that was missing was a bell on the end of the toe.

TSSDNCOP · 05/10/2019 14:05

My heels all came from Ravel in the 80’s.

I had the exact same style in red, white, black, navy, mint and shocking pink.

@TSSDNCOP

I have respect for women who can wear heels all day long.
I think they look great, but if you are on your feet all day long; they are agonising.
Kudos to the York women for prioritising comfort.

i do quite like the French Sole carpet slippers.

ElspethFlashman · 05/10/2019 14:23

The Yorks also wear a lot of high heels with straps. They really like a T bar or cross strap - very Diana.

I imagine those are a fair bit more stable as they don't move as much. I love a skinny strap, myself. Adds interest and is definitely sturdier feeling.

AdaColeman · 05/10/2019 14:23

Oh I loved Ravel!
I had a pair of black T strap shoes just like Bea's, that I wore with a black moss crepe Ossie Clark frock. Happy days....

ElspethFlashman · 05/10/2019 14:49

Having just gone down an Instagram wormhole it seems that a lot of Bea's shoes are by Carvela and Kurt Geiger.

Some of the lush ones are on sale right now!

ajandjjmum · 05/10/2019 15:13

And Faith and Sacha!

frugalkitty · 05/10/2019 15:57

TSSDNCOP I'm liking your dedication to the cause but would recommend you employ someone to clean and do the washing up for you because it's going to be very difficult to get rubber gloves on over that diamond.

thisenglishlife · 05/10/2019 16:06

Beatrice also wears a lot of Jimmy Choo

The Cambridges were at an Aston Villa match in Norwich today.

Aw, George looks like he’s having a brilliant time 😊

ElspethFlashman · 05/10/2019 18:10

That is adorable.

RoseQuartzGlow · 05/10/2019 18:16

That's a gorgeous photo. They are both such great parents.

thisenglishlife · 05/10/2019 18:20

Aston Villa won 5-1, so it must have been a fantastic day out... and very exciting for a young fan.

ElspethFlashman · 05/10/2019 18:26

Omg there's a wee video on Instagram! On @royal.addicted, a nice little fashion account.

You'll all be relieved to know Charlotte was there too! She's on the other side.

thisenglishlife · 05/10/2019 18:37

Here's two of Charlotte

Couple in front of them, not the hipster looking guy , but the guy wearing a cap and the lady in the leather jacket, are they friends of the Cambridges ? They look familiar.

Ninkaninus · 05/10/2019 18:56

Charlotte and George look very alike in that one photo.

QueenOfTheAndals · 05/10/2019 18:56

Charlotte's godmother @queenofarles, according to the Duchess Kate blog. George and Charlotte were in her wedding party.
