Kate looks fabulous.

RomaineCalm · 02/10/2019 12:57

Love that dress on Kate but yes, it does look quite formal for a daytime event.

SenecaFalls · 02/10/2019 12:57

I’ve read that they shipped over to Africa 10 cars. Photos as well. Is this true or made up, I don’t know. But how do you ship a car? by air or sea? They took their actual family car. My mind is boggling.

From what I have read, that was a decision made by their security team. It's really not all that unusual; for security reasons, US presidents ship cars and helicopters for foreign visits. They are sent in transport planes.

peridito · 02/10/2019 12:58

I'm not a fan ,but so what really ! I don't think it flatters her or suits her shape ,makes her look insubstantial .

Might be different in the flesh tho.

Amanduh · 02/10/2019 13:00

Kate looks fabulous.

peridito · 02/10/2019 13:02

I think it's the material I'm not keen on - that sheers on sheers effect .

peridito · 02/10/2019 13:05

Maybe the aim was to be very covered up and a heavier fabric wouldn't have worked ?

chocolatecheesecake · 02/10/2019 13:18

Love this colour on Kate and the green contrasts as well. Beautiful. I agree I'm not sure about wearing it in the morning as it looks a bit of an evening dress but I'm sure there's a logic behind it? 🤷‍♀️

cathyno5 · 02/10/2019 13:35

I think the Mail's coverage of Meghan has mainly been very positive, particularly in relation to their current tour. The comments by the readers are another story.....

Anyway, back to frocks. I really like Meghan's dress today. It's a much nicer length on her. I'm not so keen on Kate's dress. The colour is lovely but the shape doesn't really do much for her and I don't think it goes well with the shoes.

megletthesecond · 02/10/2019 13:35

I like the DoS's tie waist shirt dresses. Especially yesterdays green military style one.

FelicityFlutterby · 02/10/2019 13:44

Kate looks great in that teal dress. It's quite a 'current' dress I think and it's quite nice to see her in something a bit less classic. I especially like the top, with the gathered / ruched bit, (don't know technical term, sorry), and high neckline.

Again though, I just don't like the high heels... But, a bit like tie belts, I don't generally like many high heeled shoes. They just look OTT during the day. I think I'm off them, as they remind me of work, which is the only place I have ever worn them regularly. So probably a 'me problem'

NoTheresa · 02/10/2019 13:48

Shirred? The term!

FelicityFlutterby · 02/10/2019 13:51

Yes, that's probably it, thanks Theresa!

FelicityFlutterby · 02/10/2019 13:53

Also, weirdly, I like the tie belt on the teal dress. The different colour somehow makes it look a lot more stylish and fun.

BlingLoving · 02/10/2019 13:58

I love Kate's dress but I don't like it on her. It somehow manages to make her look frumpy?

I am now absolutely certain that Meghan is self conscious about additional post-baby weight on the belly and the ties are an attempt to minimise. It's not working. Not least because we all know that a darker colour would be more flattering. Bless her.

Having said that, I do like the white one from today significantly more than either of yesterday's.

ajandjjmum · 02/10/2019 14:09

I can understand them taking action against the DM - after all, she clearly owns the copyright to the letter, and it was printed without her permission - although her father owns the actual physical letter.

Harry's statement was different altogether. I think that although they may well have been upset by some of the coverage, they should accept that some of it was fair and they need to learn from it. And bask in the success of the African tour.

To bring in references to his mother was a bad move, as I do not believe it will bring him support - just smacks of emotional blackmail.

A royal's reputation isn't built over 12 months.

AudacityOfHope · 02/10/2019 14:12

Like a lot of her outfits, I think Kate's dress would look nicer if it had curves to cling to. Her clothes just hang straight down with nothing to break up the shape.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 02/10/2019 14:13

Kate looks wow today. It’s the length and the fabric which makes it look evening-y.
She has to be modest as it’s a Muslim gathering; hence the length.
But she’s gone for the georgette so she’s not swamped by fabric.
I love the teal with flash of emerald belt.
I’m also trying to figure out if the earrings are vintage or accessorize.

As an aside, William is looking handsome again. Both brothers look fantastic in a well cut navy suit.

BlingLoving · 02/10/2019 14:23

"Harry's statement was different altogether. I think that although they may well have been upset by some of the coverage, they should accept that some of it was fair and they need to learn from it. And bask in the success of the African tour."

But he's not saying that all the coverage is unfair. He's specifically referencing a campaign waged by a particular publishing house. Which i think has been pretty much accepted by most people as being true?

VeniceBeach · 02/10/2019 14:31

Kate’s dress is gorgeous (but expensive!) Love the colours, although something about the belt being in a different shade of green reminds me of a bridesmaids dress.

She’s wearing $8 earrings by Pakistani designer Zeen.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/10/2019 14:34

The private jet criticisms of Harry were fair enough, though let's not pretend the Mail and Sun did it out of concern for the environment!

But some of the other stories they ran about Meghan were just ridiculous - the baby blanket, the list given to neighbours, making Kate cry, the staff parking ban etc - and it's time they were held to account.

Hmmm. Kate’s dress looks nice in motion, based on the pic of her striding along (in those heels, how do people do that?!). In the one of her standing still it’s hanging off her a bit. I’d guess it might be one that looks better in person than in a photo. Live the colour, but not totally sold on the shape.

Love her £5 earrings, they’re really pretty!

BertrandRussell · 02/10/2019 14:40

There are always little plates of cakes on coffee tables when they meet people. I wonder if they ever eat them!

mytinyfiredancers · 02/10/2019 14:52

@BertrandRussell You don't get a figure like the DoCs by eating cake!
