She must have iron willpower then. She'll need it in Pakistan - imagine the gorgeous sweets that'll be on offer there!

They are always teeny tiny cakes!

TipseyTorvey · 02/10/2019 14:55

Love the colour of Kate's dress. Also like the shape and flow of it. I don't like the earrings, but that's a minor detail given how fab she looks. I don't agree with pp that she's too thin, she's slender and that dress works really well for her shape.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/10/2019 14:56

Meghan and Harry meeting Graca Machel. I think that's the trench dress she wore last year? I should've called this thread Trenches and Tie Belts!

Yes, that’s her trench dress which dates back to Canada.
She’s probably spent less than a grand on new frocks for this trip.
Well done 👍

mytinyfiredancers · 02/10/2019 15:00

I suppose it could've considered poor form not to have a cake that your host has provided for you!

VeniceBeach · 02/10/2019 15:26

Ooh I posted that dress yesterday! I like it as far as trench dresses go.

I should've called this thread Trenches and Tie Belts!

Yes! Meghan’s fashion on this trip has not been the most exciting. I think Kate’s outfit today has been more interesting to discuss than any from the tour and I usually find her style quite unremarkable. However, that’s a good thing at the moment – lots of ‘rewears’, nothing too expensive and all ‘appropriate’ for the occasion has meant good press for M+H (till now), so overall a success! It’s amazing the impact that clothing choices can have on the perception of royals.

(Disclaimer that I realise the purpose of the trip was not for fashion).

Gallery of some of Mary’s gala dresses (on the theme of blue), at the bottom of the article:

frugalkitty · 02/10/2019 15:34

I love Kate's dress today but would prefer a more contrasting colour than the emerald green on the belt.

beanaseireann · 02/10/2019 15:41

I love Kate's dress. The colour is great on her.
Thst blue and green combo reminds me iof the Aer Lingus air hosteses uniform colour.

itswinetime · 02/10/2019 15:52

They colour of Kate's dress is fabulous I think a lot of us have seats she suits the jewelled and warmer tones a lot better than pale washed out colours. I think it was probably appropriate for the event in that it covered everything that needs to be covered without swamping her but I'm not a fan of the high necked long sleeved look I think it almost always looks like to much fabric.

Meghan ending the tour in trench dress is fitting this is one of the better fabric and cuts on her from the photo but again it's not a colour I think suits her.

Did some one up thread say they thought the mails coverage of Meghan was mainly positive?? Maybe the last 2 weeks but for the last year absolutely not.

As for Harry's statement he is not saying all the criticism/coverage is unfair but that there is a undertone to some that is horrible criticising the was she held her baby for example! That was nasty. Fine report how much money spent on dresses in a year but do it fairly not slanted to make her look as bad a possible. It's not saying don't write about us, or only wrote nice things it's saying write actual facts and let people make up their own mind. I think that's all he is asking for anyway.

ajandjjmum · 02/10/2019 16:06

I might have dreamt this, but didn't Meghan wear that same dress to an exhibition in London of Nelson Mandela's life, and wore it today meeting his widow.

Apologies if I've got this totally wrong!

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/10/2019 16:12

Yes, that's right!

Kates dress is a really weird length. Especially with the heels. I understand that it may be long due to the type of engagement but an inch or two shorter would have been much better. I don't like the green belt with it either.

paradyning · 02/10/2019 17:03

The rest of it and the main colour is lovely though!

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 02/10/2019 17:09

I was thinking for the past few days that the DM had been positive about the tour and were being nice to MM.

Now I wonder if they'd got wind of the legal action and had decided to rein in the spite a bit...

ItsJustTheOneSwanActually · 02/10/2019 17:09

oh and I loved Kate's dress today - very appropriate (modest) but still rather glam

Laniakea · 02/10/2019 17:16

I loved it too (& actually went to the website to ogle it - silk georgette ... swoon!). I wouldn’t have worn anything shorter than that if I were meeting the Aga Khan, so perfectly appropriate imo!

hopeishere · 02/10/2019 17:21

She loves those trench dresses!! Why??

Kate looks lovely. She suits strong colours. The earrings were really cheap apparently $8! Bargain.

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/10/2019 17:23

@Laniakea I don't think this Aga Khan is particularly conservative. His mother was British, as was his first wife, his stepmother was Rita Hayworth, and his children have all married married Brits or Americans!

Are the Aga khans Pakistanis?
Like Bling I like the dress just not on DOC, looks odd on her, do you think Kate is cool tone or warm? I ask as like her , I look good in emerald and purples , but I don’t know what season or colouring I am,

Wetdogloveshubert · 02/10/2019 17:33

I'm just catching up after a few busy days. Kate's dress is very pretty; the contrast with the belt (surely a nod to Meghan? Wink) lifts it as do the shoes and earrings. It's lovely to see William and Kate putting on a good show together. Dare I say though that there is a hint of bra strap on the shoulder?

By the by, I love the bovver boots this young girl is wearing to hand Kate a bouquet!

I think she must be warm not cool tone as silver and ice blues do. It suit her as much as jewel colours. But what do I know.

Rachelle11 · 02/10/2019 17:35

Love the dress!

QueenOfTheAndals · 02/10/2019 17:39

I think they're of Iranian/Persian origin @queenofarles
