Oh miffy - I missed your post for some reason. That teddy coat looks so cosy. I saw it in H and M earlier in the week, but didn't try it on as I don't need any more coats, and I thought I would be seduced into buying something I don't need (mainly because I had massively misjudged the weather and gone out with just a jumper and thin jacket and was flipping freezing). The leopard skirt is lovely too. Pity you had to send back most though.

Thanks never and soups - yes, it is really nice, despite the £££. Not whole-wardrobe levels of £££ really, though, especially with the discount. (soups the jumpers are gorgeous, though...if you haven't ordered from them before I can invite you for a 20% discount I think. Just sayin').

I agree great plains are fab. I generally wait til the sales and they really discount stuff heavily...its good quality too. I have a "smart work" dress from there which is really flattering, and a lovely velvet pleated skirt, as well as some great basics (roll neck jersey tops and lightweight jumpers) which always get worn lots. Oh, and a couple of coats which bizarrely are the only coats which always get compliments even though they are well past their best!

twosoups1972 · 24/10/2019 17:36

Thank you @sheep I have ordered from them before so the discount code wouldn't work?

Ellapaella · 24/10/2019 18:08

Browsing through Great Plains and they ah e some great stuff. Very nice white blouse similar to the one that @Huffthepuff likes https://www.greatplains.co.uk/product/woman-new-in/j2mat/monmarte-embroidered-frill-neck-top.htm?clr=ffffff

Huffthepuff · 24/10/2019 18:14

Ooh that's pretty @Ellapaella . What possessed them to call the colour 'milk' though?! I don't remember Great Plains being so expensive

Sooverthemill · 24/10/2019 18:41

Great Plains is sold in a very chichi boutique in a village near where I live. Hideously expensive

SoyYo · 24/10/2019 19:01

Great H&M haul miffy the teddy coat specially looks like a true teddy hug.

Not loving your Toast cardigan and the way you styled it like the “lookbook”. Fab. I will succumb to Toast Woollies eventually I’m sure even if my first order for the too big gorgeous velvet trousers was a fail Sad and had to return.

Jeans are good soover but the skinnies are so perfect on you they pale in comparison

noodlezoodle · 24/10/2019 19:40

I've bought an excellent pair of trousers from M&S this week. They're lovely - really heavyweight material and drape really well, although I haven't worn them out of the house yet because they're soooo long. I'm 5'10 and bought the long length and they're still grazing the floor! www.marksandspencer.com/high-waist-wide-leg-trousers/p/p60274484

And then these which I bought for work:

noodlezoodle · 24/10/2019 19:40

Oops, ignore the last sentence. Was going to share a nice Gap pair I bought for work but I can't find them on the UK website.

Ellapaella · 24/10/2019 20:09

@Huffthepuff I'd never heard of them before. Seem similar pricing to Hush? Wonder of quality is better. Much as I love a bit of Hush sometimes the quality leaves a lot to be desired.

dontcallmelen · 24/10/2019 20:14

Not definitely got the hang of the look book 👍🏼
Yy Great Plains, I always forget about them.
Hush, I like the nep jumper but it’s £195 & the cornflower blue jumper which is a bit cheaper also the off the shoulder tops/metallic but I do have some tops like those & don’t wear them that much, so don’t need really.
I know this is probably me being a bit thick, but when say hush or toast listing knitwear what is the wool that being used, As it doesn’t say the only wool I can wear is cashmere or merino can’t wear anything with lambs wool/alpaca or mohair I come out in hives & need antihistamines
Only one know the answer?

Huffthepuff · 24/10/2019 20:15

In my head Great Plains were the cheaper arm of French Connection. I may have that wrong though. Used to be quite reasonably priced but maybe that was in comparison to FC!

Huffthepuff · 24/10/2019 20:17

Wonderful 'lookbook look' @NotAnActualSheep ! You are the embodiment of Toast style 😍👌

Ellapaella · 24/10/2019 20:29

@dontcallmelen you should be able to find out if you look at the 'item specifics' it usually gives you wool content and type.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/10/2019 20:29

I don't think that Great plains are any more expensive than hush. In fact, hush are way more expensive in some things. @Huff, they have always been expensive. I actually think they are more on a par with other retailers. Their sales are pretty good with things being really reduced.

neveradullmoment99 · 24/10/2019 20:30

I haven't bought anything for years from them and haven't ever bought anything online. I have mainly bought from boutique shops in Cornwall on holiday. Some of their things in the past were very similar to seasalt. They have become more modern now and less like seasalt which can be a little dowdy at times [imo]

neveradullmoment99 · 24/10/2019 20:31

I mean seasalt can be a little dowdy! Some of their things can be lovely too. Like every website, you need to be selective.

Laska2Meryls · 24/10/2019 21:45

I swapped the Moto out for a larger size and really glad that I did !
Also the got some black white Hush night sky trainers from Brand Alley .Along with the Becksondergaard scarf I linked above.. its been an expensive week !

Laska2Meryls · 24/10/2019 21:47

Hmm do I really need to look at the Great Plains stuff though....? Grin

twosoups1972 · 24/10/2019 21:54

@laska you look great! What are the leggings?

Laska2Meryls · 24/10/2019 22:06

Thanks Twosoups they are M&S leggings from last year . These are the original colour , but I actually got 3 pairs and dyed one of the others navy and the other burgundy ..

They do have some similar ones this year though.

Sooverthemill · 25/10/2019 10:14

@Huffthepuff in the 70s French connection were cheap!as a student I bought quite a lot. They seem to have ramped up the prices. I see Great Plains as more quality basics.
Cant remember who asked but I can only wear merino too. I have recently got an eBay 100% cashmere jumper and it's really Itchy! Will wash in my non bio and hope it's the washing powder precious owner used. If a retailer says 'wool' I usually don't buy unless it's a really small quantity. The hush Olivia cardigan is about 21% 'wool' and it's itchy so long sleeve top under. It's so annoying. Somewhere I read that rinsing in glycerin solution helps itchiness in knitwear and I have thought of that.

@Laska2Meryls great outfit

twosoups1972 · 25/10/2019 11:18

Very tempted by this suede jacket in the sale from Boden:

www.boden.co.uk/en-gb/behn-crop-jacket-broad-bean/sty-t0430-ivy

....but I really don't need any more jackets!

neveradullmoment99 · 25/10/2019 11:57

Ohhhh that is a lovely jacket!

Laska2Meryls · 25/10/2019 12:45

That Boden jacket is lush!!
Here is a green satin skirt from JL , love it... Comes up big on the waist though so this is a bit lown slung on me, making it a tad long with my flat boots, si ive ordered the next size down

Laska looking totally fabulous👍🏼
soover yy itching been lusting after lots of toast/hush knitwear but I think with the wool content I would be just one itchy red mess.
soups tis a lovely jacket, oh dear off to have a look at boden now as well.
