@GinandGingerBeer I like the Boden jumper on you but if you're not sure return it and get something you really love.

The tux jacket looks lovely but I would agree that it might be a bit big on you...?

We're off to see Judy this afternoon Smile

GinandGingerBeer · 06/10/2019 20:26

Ooh enjoy Judy, it's my round for the cinema trip with my friend so that's just reminded me, thank you 👏
I know if I'd ordered the Boden I wouldn't be keeping it. It's the fact DH did, when in reality, we're spending on the house so he got bugger all for his birthday in August and he bought me this and framed me a picture by an artist I loved at a recent art fair. I feel guilty and it back, which is silly if I don't like it, but I'd rather have the blossom print skirt from hush Grin (which is cheaper!)

twosoups1972 · 06/10/2019 23:26

Well our cinema trip ended in disaster :-(

The cinema chain we often go to had had a problem with their booking system on Saturday. However on Saturday night the website seemed to be up and running so I booked tickets for Sunday afternoon. We arrived at the cinema today, bought snacks etc, dd crutched her way round to the screen (I had checked it was accessible) and found people in our seats. Apparently the system was still playing up and seats had been double booked!

Cinema staff tried to relocate us but not sitting together and in seats that dd found very difficult to access with her crutches. We just gave up in the end, they were very apologetic, gave us tickets for next time, refunded our drinks and said they would offer us a meal as well next time. Felt sorry for dd who struggled to get out and ended up not seeing the film.

Oh well, will try again next weekend!

@GinandGingerBeer it was a lovely thought of dh but I'm sure he would rather you have something you really like.

Talisin · 06/10/2019 23:28

@GinandGingerBeer Hope you like the dress as much as I do - and that it fits!

@SoyYo & @neveradullmoment99 got the velvet skirt and I see exactly what you mean about the quality, I was at least expecting something thicker for the price. It’s disappointing but I also really like it so am loathe to return it, especially as it seems to have sold out and they don’t have a pre order option so presumably that’s it. Be interesting to see how many are returned. Oh and mine had the hanger marks on the waistband too.

My BrandAlley Hush haul is due to be delivered tomorrow; star jeans, Clarissa devore skirt & a smaller size in the Yasmin skirt as the original one is too big now and I love it and practically lived in it last winter.

I’ve also ordered a velvet jacket from Next in what they call pink and I would call maroon. And then I’m planting myself firmly on the no-spend bench until at least Christmas.

neveradullmoment99 · 06/10/2019 23:43

HOw odd @Talisan that you have the hanger marks as well. I wonder why? Maybe they were transported from manufacture on hangers! They didn't have a chance to be instore or returns. I am keeping mine purely because the colour is so beautiful.

GinandGingerBeer · 07/10/2019 10:04

I remember ordering the velvet green pleated skirt last year and returning it due to hanger marks & marks in general round the hem.
The fact they don't do anything about their packaging problems is annoying.
When I've posted reviews which state how poor it is, they don't publish them saying it's a QA concern.
Expecting two jackets, a dress and a pair of jeans to arrive in a decent condition when all stuffed in one bag is ridiculous.
It's not cheap, Boden always manage to pack stuff well......
Rant over!

GinandGingerBeer · 07/10/2019 10:06

Oh soups what a nightmare. Why couldn't the people who were in your seats move if they could see your dd was on crutches?
Wouldn't have harmed them....?

Sooverthemill · 07/10/2019 10:08

@twosoups1972 that sounds like a nightmare. Poor you and DD.

Talisin · 07/10/2019 14:37

So Brand Alley stuff has arrived. The Yasmin skirt fits perfectly in a 10 but I’m now wondering if I should have gone down another size to an 8 as I’m loosing weight and it does tend to come off my bottom half (wish it would come off my boobs, sigh ). It’s also really, really crumpled so I need to get the iron out again. The Clarrisa devore skirt is very pretty and sort of cobwebby but whether I keep it is probably going to depend on whether I send the jeans back or not. The star jeans are very big round the ‘waist’ (they’re designed to sit much lower than that) but nicely loose in the legs. Definitely need a belt to keep them up but not sure how much that’ll scrunch up the waistband and make it look odd. Will try with a variety of stuff later and then decide.

SoyYo · 07/10/2019 17:16

Yes Talisin my BA haul arrived too. Agree the Jasmin skirt in a 10 IS generous but I’m hoping it’ll stay put? The elastic looks sturdy enough and for £18 prepared to go with it even if I’ll end up paying another £5 to have it shortened by an inch. It’s such a nice casual everyday skirt and I like that it’s lined making it suitable for AW wear. Mine is also very crumpled...
I also got the black/white trainers and they fit fine but I think I’ll return as not sure how much wear I’ll realistically get out of them Hmm the leather is great but I’m not sure why I’m not feeling the love with them - and even on BA they were £62. I ordered them before I spotted and bought some bargainous New Look (non leather) platform white trainers which I totally love and think will get a lot more wear.
Finally grey skinny Bailey jeans in grey...a teeny bit long again but can turn up and they’re a really good thicker winter denim weight. I don’t own any grey jeans so they’re staying too even if skinnies are no longer the “in” shape they’re not skin tight actually and I can see they’ll be very useful as a change from my other jeans.

SoyYo · 07/10/2019 17:18

Meant to add I like my star jeans but since losing weight earlier this summer they are absolutely massive in a 12 Sad

dontcallmelen · 08/10/2019 17:28

Oops just realised I have fallen off the thread, hope everyone is ok & Laska that you are having a fabulous time in Portugal.
Nothing to report haven’t bought anything, am currently surrounded by bits of paper trying out paint samples & going bosseyed looking at fabric.

Ellapaella · 08/10/2019 17:46

Also fallen off thread as been away from home and v busy. But love the coated jeans @GinandGingerBeer - they look great on you.
Had a quick browse around JL today (am in B'ham so nice big store). Tried on a few Hush things, pics below.
Pink satin skirt - very lovely and beautifully slinky but I have no idea what shoes I'd wear it with.
The cord jumpsuit - only on because it's not anything I'd usually go for so thighs I'd give it a go, is very good quality, fit is nice. Again I wouldn't know what foot wear to out with it in real life.
Lastly the Emmanuelle dress which is beautiful - I'm going to buy it for my my trip away at the end of the month to Edinburgh, didn't get it today but it's a beautiful navy colour and hangs really nicely.

Huffthepuff · 08/10/2019 17:57

Love it all @Ellapaella ! You could wear your DMs with the satin skirt, would look 👌 you should definitely order the skirt and dress. Jumpsuit lovely too but maybe less easy to wear day to day

Ellapaella · 08/10/2019 18:02

Thanks @Huffthepuff. The jumpsuit isn't my style at all, was just trying on out of curiosity and quite like it but know I'd never actually wear it.

neveradullmoment99 · 08/10/2019 18:26

I have the purple pink satin skirt. It looks great with DM's. I wore the leopard print one [ I kept them both Blush] and also wore my DM's with that skirt!

neveradullmoment99 · 08/10/2019 18:27

Love all the things on you @Ellapaella
Where is @Laska? Is she still on holiday? Lucky her. Its bucketing here.

Ellapaella · 08/10/2019 18:36

Yes she's still in Portugal I think?
I probably will get the skirt eventually - I'm actually not that flush right now, got a lot of nights out coming up as well as Edinburgh so trying to be careful with cash. Also planning on saving a bit so I can shop while I'm there. Love the idea of the skirt with DM's.

Ellapaella · 08/10/2019 18:38

What shoes would you put with the Emmanuelle dress? It's navy and would also need to wear with tights for a night out this time of year.

GinandGingerBeer · 08/10/2019 19:54

I love the cord boiler suit on you @Ellapaella 😍
It'd look fab rolled up with some chunky trainers. Are you sure it's not your style???
Skirt looks fab as does the Emmanuel dress, I nearly bought it last year but then it went OOS. I picked up my blossom midi skirt today. Really annoyed that it came on a hanger with two plastic skirt covers over it then just in a JL plastic bag so it's absolute full of static.
No tissue, no box.....
WTF are they doing with their packaging???
Honestly it was buzzing with static. Angry

taybert · 08/10/2019 20:33

Love the Emmanuel dress @Ellapaella. I saw it but for some reason I had in the back of my mind that they did one last year that shrunk really badly? Or have I imagined that? It looks lovely.

twosoups1972 · 08/10/2019 20:51

@Ellapaella I love it all especially the Emmanuel dress, gorgeous.

@GinandGingerBeer other than the horrible static, do you like the skirt?

neveradullmoment99 · 08/10/2019 21:57

Navy is always tricky. I would possibly just put black tights and boots on. It think its ok with navy. You could also wear navy tights and dark burgundy boots. Oxblood/burgundy looks great with navy.

neveradullmoment99 · 08/10/2019 22:07

Mind you, the dress has gold bits through it so maybe burgundy wouldn't be the best. Although these are lovely

neveradullmoment99 · 08/10/2019 22:09

I had these and they actually are really nice and versatile
