No!

MmeBufo · 25/09/2019 14:07

Dark navy is bad with black. Other colours are surely fine

SapphireSeptember · 25/09/2019 14:11

Black goes with EVERYTHING, (yes, even brown and navy.)

Black and colour combos I like are black/dark green, black/bright pink and black/turquoise.

ReeReeR · 25/09/2019 14:12

I think it can look ok but do not believe black goes with everything. In particular I don’t like black shoes or bag or black leggings with just anything, which seems to be the norm for a lot of people.

Black looks better with colour then with black. Black and navy is a really nice combination but so is black with every colour. You just have to be careful about the style

drivingtofrance · 25/09/2019 15:21

I prefer to wear black with cream, grey, taupe, white or more black.

Not with a block of a brighter colour.

Doobigetta · 25/09/2019 15:25

I think black and colour can look good if it looks as though you’ve specifically chosen that combination. But sometimes you can tell that someone has just chucked a pair of black polyester trousers on with a print blouse or something because “black goes with everything”, and that looks shit.

FlibbertyGiblets · 25/09/2019 15:34

What do you mean? I can't quite grasp what you are driving at. Sorry.

AutumnRose1 · 25/09/2019 15:36

OP are you rewatching Trinny and Susannah or something?!

I don't think it's wrong at all, I'd be swathed in full black all the time otherwise.

SellFridges · 25/09/2019 15:37

I don’t like black and colour. I am a bit cross with myself today for wearing a black blouse with dark denim jeans to work.

Ninkaninus · 25/09/2019 15:46

No. But some colours look better with other neutrals rather than black.

lurkingfromhome · 25/09/2019 16:00

Black and bright colours can look a bit dated, I think. Black and red, black and bright pink etc I don't like. Agree that the chucking on a pair of black trousers with any random top is not great.

Black and navy is very chic and my favourite combo (but the black and navy must be good strong colours and not faded). Black and grey, black and camel also great. But those are neutrals, really, not colour. Black and dark green good.

bluerad · 25/09/2019 16:09

Black trousers and a bright pattered top is the standard work attire of many of my colleagues. The looks that stand out, however, are black with neutrals (cream, caramel, stone etc), strong colours put together (say cobalt blue trousers with emerald shirt).

I don't have any black in my wardrobe after I had my colours done and switched to navy. On a good day I like to think I wear strong colours together, on a meh day it's navy trousers with a patterned top!

LolaSmiles · 25/09/2019 16:13

I think the black with bright accent colour looks a bit dated most of the time.I saw someone in town recently who had black jeans, red shoes, white top, red cardigan, red statement necklace and red handbag.

Like other posters, I think black looks great with neutrals, but for workwear black trousers and coloured top is a standard combo.

MikeUniformMike · 25/09/2019 16:14

I think black works well with neutrals and patterns. It looks a bit cheap with bright colours and with white.

PullingMySocksUp · 25/09/2019 16:15

I think black with pastels isn’t great. More jewel colours, fine.
I may be stuck in 2004 though.

If you google trinny colour and black you come up with pictures of her wearing a black skirt with a pink jacket etc so even she doesn't follow her own catchphrase.

GrapefruitGin · 25/09/2019 16:28

It depends! What are you trying to style?

Nomummyonlyzuul · 25/09/2019 16:32

Nope, currently wearing a bright pink vest under a black top!

NoTheresa · 25/09/2019 16:46

Black and navy is chic.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 25/09/2019 17:06

I like black with light denim and with warm neutrals as well as autumnal shades of coppers, burnt orange etc.

Both Trinny and Susannah have zero style.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 25/09/2019 17:09
