As always, let's critique the clothes and not the wearers.

I think Meghan has nailed it this tour. My favourite outfit is the jumpsuit, but all seem to have been completely appropriate in terms of function, cost, and culturally. And that is the main consideration in my mind. Harry definately suits darker suits imho. Out of interest, are his suits insanely expensive bespoke things, or high street??

Thing I'm most impressed with is her glowing skin. i have no idea how she looks like that at 5 months pp!!

hopeishere · 25/09/2019 20:21

Lady Louise had extropia.

frugalkitty · 25/09/2019 20:23

pastaparadise I expect it's lots of healthy living, eating weird sprouted stuff and drinking green juice plus lots of yoga.....which probably explains why I look crap! Blush

AdaColeman · 25/09/2019 20:23

Harry had scrubbed up a bit better today, he looked a little less like the Wreck of the Hesperus.

Meg's glowing skin will be partly top notch makeup knowledge & advice/products, and partly domestic help so that she isn't exhausted, and partly an extremely good diet.

TipseyTorvey · 25/09/2019 20:25

I love that jumpsuit. So funky and unfussy and very very far from the Royal coat dress style. It's perfect for Kate but lovely to see Meghan do something more in line with her own style. I am tempted to buy it given its only £100! She's really in high street mode for this tour isn't she?

JaimeBronde · 25/09/2019 20:46

Yes Meghan's jumpsuit is lovely.
I want it too!
Archie is so cute!
I can imagine him & Louis being 'the terrible twosome' (in a cute way that is) getting into everything, wearing the dogs food bowl on their head, drawing on the wall/sofa with Meghan or Kate's lipstick, wrapping themselves up in loo roll, eating soil & trapping their hand in the dvd/video player. But looking so cute & smiley that your heart melts.
My DD did all the above & I've almost forgiven her for wrecking my best Estée Lauder lipstick (wall, bath, sink & herself covered in red lipstickwhen) she was 18 months old Grin

Haworthia · 25/09/2019 20:55

I was convinced my DD had a squint at a similar age. I definitely had photos of her with her eye turning in. But by the time her hospital appointment came around, the orthoptist diagnosed pseudosquint. Common in babies when their wide nose bridge gives the impression the eyes don’t point in the same direction when they actually do.

Anyway, I’m really charmed by the footage of Meghan encouraging everyone at the baby group to get down on the floor and let the babies play, instead of sitting stiffly on chairs.

DevonUkelele · 25/09/2019 21:03

Lady Louise had extropia.

Wasn't she also prem? Does that have any affect/relationship to the condition!

frugalkitty · 25/09/2019 21:07

Jaime my DD mashed my favourite only Chanel lipstick into our bedroom carpet when she was little. She was a bit of a pickle but that took a bit of getting over!

JaimeBronde · 25/09/2019 21:24

Frugal Grin Grin although I expect you were Shock at the time!

paradyning · 25/09/2019 21:28

Well I did not know that! Or about the polka dots.
I remember she made sailor collars trendy.
And the horrendous flicked hair cut. I vividly remember a haircut competition picture in a Lady Di book my gran had.

Amanduh · 25/09/2019 21:35

I really don’t think she’s ‘nailed it’ style wise this trip. Today was much better, all yesterday’s were hideous and ill fitting. Some of the worst she’s worn! Personality wise she’s nailed it I think, she seems warm and gets involved, although the ‘being a working mum is difficult’ always feels like the wrong approach from the royals, they all seem to do it and miss the mark. She seems much better at the job than Harry, he has seemed a bit like a spare part! Her skin is amazing and her hair has looked great.
Some newborns seem to have a bit of a funny eye when they’re so little, is it likely it will just correct itself? He really is such a smiley baby.

frugalkitty · 25/09/2019 21:35

Jaime it was really annoying, I'd had it for my uni leavers ball and it had been discontinued. A few years later my youngest DS got his hands on my makeup bag (from on top of a high chest of drawers) and covered himself in it. DH asked me why I'd 'let' him do that...like I'd given the bag to play with and said, here you go son have a rummage in here! Hmm

justasking111 · 25/09/2019 22:57

cycling shorts. I thought she was wearing spanx Blush

JaimeBronde · 25/09/2019 23:18

Frugal it's always the discontinued ones isn't it. Mine was a lipstick gloss special edition.
And my make up bag was up high too.........well I thought high Smile

beanaseireann · 26/09/2019 03:04

I like the higher shoe with the jumpsuit. I think a flat shoe with it would not suit Meghan.

EleanorReally · 26/09/2019 06:39

lovely Archie.
Do people actually go out and buy the clothes that the royals wear?

AppleKatie · 26/09/2019 07:06

They really do. Why is a complicated mystery to me but I believe the data is there that they do.

paradyning · 26/09/2019 07:09

I've been tempted by a couple of pairs of DoS' shoes and sunnies in the past. And I really liked that M&S jumper she wore when still engaged but it sold out. Annoyingly I was going to buy it the week before and never did.
'People' clearly do purchase as what they wear routinely sells out. Whether that is by virtue of wanting to be 'like them' or having attention drawn to an otherwise unknown item of clothing/accessories, who knows. My guess is the majority would be for the latter.

Spudlet · 26/09/2019 07:12

I still actively want a pair of Spanish riding boots as per the DoC. There’s a Spanish manufacturer that makes an identical pair to hers for much less... when I go back to work, I shall treat myself to a pair. I’ve also lusted after a couple of jumpers she’s worn. Basically her skinnies and jumpers style is what I wear in winter (come at me, haterz) and I like some of her outfits along those lines. Can’t blimmin’ well afford any of it though!

QueenOfTheAndals · 26/09/2019 07:14

Has anyone here made any royal outfit purchases? I own the blouse Kate is wearing in her official portrait but I had it before the portrait was revealed.

I was tempted by Meghan's Le Specs shades last year but dithered over them and they sold out. Probably for the best as I'm always losing my sunglasses!

I had a Penelope Chilvers catalogue come through the post last week. Isn't that one of Kate's favourite boot brands? And I also received one for Demeulier (sp?) handbags, which Meghan has been known to carry. I didn't sign up for either so maybe big brother is watching our threads!!Grin

I was briefly tempted by the jumpsuit, but you have to order from the US, I think?

So that was that.

StCharlotte · 26/09/2019 08:13

Off to BP this week. I might copy Royal Style and treat myself to this...

Royal style: the Sussexes in Africa - it's gonna take a lot to drag us away from them...
StCharlotte · 26/09/2019 08:13

(And tell DH it came from Claire's Accessories)
