I use Kate as inspiration for weekend/casual wear, as I really love her country chic aesthetic. But I’ve never gone out and bought a specific item because she’s worn it. If I learn about a new brand due to her wearing something from it, I might find something there that I love and want (Dubarry for a wool cape, for example). She’s a little too slim for me to actually replicate her looks though - I’ve got an hourglass figure and big boobs, so things that suit her don’t often suit me all that well.
Meghan is great inspiration for most things really. I love her casual denim/shirt/blazer/hat look but again, I’ve never bought a specific item (although I am very, very close to buying that madewell tote as I have been looking for one for ages and I really like that one. Only not buying it as I won’t need it over winter. However I will be going back to it for summer).
I love ‘Meghan green’ and if I had the budget for it I’d go and buy that fabulous shirt and leather skirt combo right now! I’d have to wait a while to wear it, though, and truth be told I’d probably want to break the outfit up because it’s just so Meghan that I might well look like a copycat.
Same with handbags - I didn’t know about Strathberry and Demellier before Meghan wore them, but because the bags are so distinctive I can’t buy any now even if I really wanted to because I’d feel too much like it’s an inauthentic purchase, and I feel that others would be perceive me as a royal groupie or copycat and that’s just not me.
