Tour itinerary

As always, let's critique the clothes and not the wearers.

Oh scrap the shades.

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/09/2019 10:50

@Doyoureallyneedtoask I'm pretty sure that was a joke about the nappy bag and I don't think there's anything wrong with a bit of humour. It's worlds away from the sort of comments @Becles is talking about.

Love her bag. There is no need to be critical in this thread either - nappy bag indeed! . It is a ‘style and beauty’ thread and oversized totes are stylish.

T'was a joke - hence the laughing emojis. Hmm

Oversized totes may well be stylish. That does mean they must be universally adored.

And, indeed, I thought the different opinions were very much part of these "style and beauty" threads. Otherwise they might be very short indeed.

^"Oh look, Meghan is carrying a very stylish oversized tote."

"Why yes, yes, so she is."

*thread ends.^

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/09/2019 10:51

No id on her jeans yet but they look like the Outland ones she's worn several times before.

What i’d really like to be in her bag is a book. I have never seen a member of the RF reading anything.

Sorry- diverting towards a mild hobby horse of mine!

BlingLoving · 24/09/2019 10:55

I love an oversized tote. But have never mastered the art of actually having one. They never seem to sit comfortably over my shoulder, I land up with so much rubbish floating around the bottom of them I can't find anything etc.

You need to be super organised with multiple smaller cases inside for everything (ie, totally NOT me).

She looks great today I think. And that wind is crazy - even with hair tied back she's struggling to keep it off her face.

BlingLoving · 24/09/2019 10:56

@bertrand - I can see Meghan having a book or a kindle or a tablet in there. She seems the type!

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/09/2019 11:01

Meghan strikes me as a reader of books like The Secret or the Power of Positive Thinking!

Isn't there a book that imagines what HM reads? I think it's called An Uncommon Reader.

My neverfull is always full and has no zip Shock

BertrandRussell · 24/09/2019 11:03

Oh, it’s lovely! Alan Bennett. About the Queen discovering books- i’ve given it to loads of people.

BlingLoving · 24/09/2019 11:08

I think kate reads, but it will be very high level parenting books etc on the one hand and casual historical romances or detective stories on the other.

latedecember1963 · 24/09/2019 11:13

I didn't read Becles' list as adding to the criticism, but more showing what Meghan has to put up with from a people who seem to take delight in having a go at her no matter what she does. People who often contradict themselves too!
It makes me very thankful for my quiet life.

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/09/2019 11:15

@BlingLoving Or maybe a book about art, given her degree?

What books might other royals read?
Charles: How Does Your Holistic Garden Grow
Anne: Black Beauty
Edward: Cameron Mackintosh's biography

OP posts:
BertrandRussell · 24/09/2019 11:18

Andrew- Lolita

QueenOfTheAndals · 24/09/2019 11:20

Ouch!

Prince Charles reads a lot, I’m sure. He has quite a serious philosophical bent, and has always been a rather thoughtful character.

Totally agree that Meghan will read things like the secret. But also serious-ish articles and books on feminism and women’s issues. Actually I bet she reads a lot now because she will be used to having to read scripts and memorise lines and she’s probably bored to death on quiet days in. Unless Archie is a Velcro baby...

I agree with pp - Kate will read parenting books on the one hand, and easy-read comfortable books on the other. Or maybe she’s a classic lit fan, who knows!

Ninkaninus · 24/09/2019 11:22

It was obvious that the nappy bag comment was a joke! And why would that be a derogatory comment, anyway.

I like the tote. It goes nicely with what she’s wearing, and apparently it was a beach visit, so again, it makes sense.

ElspethFlashman · 24/09/2019 11:28

Apparently Sophie is a big fan of military history, so "Anything with Cool Battles" is my bet for her.

ElspethFlashman · 24/09/2019 11:29

I see Kate as loving a sneaky bit of Agatha Raisin.

ElspethFlashman · 24/09/2019 11:32

Wow she looks about 14. Her skin is amazing.

paradyning · 24/09/2019 11:41

She really does! And with a 4 month old!

BlingLoving · 24/09/2019 11:43

@QueenOfTheAndals - yes, her "serious" reading will be about hardcore stuff and all very enlightening. But... she clearly is interested in art and studied it etc, but I don't get the sense from her that she's the type who is all in. She's much more in the modern world. I can see her spending time and effort in her own art collection, designing and decorating their homes/ offices etc but not necessarily reading about every artist of the last 400 years.

justasking111 · 24/09/2019 12:25

May have been mentioned before but she is tactfully playing down the jewellery with the people she is meeting. Her engagement ring is missing I noted. Re: trolling I imagine she had a bit when an actress and learnt how to deal with it.

Harry looks comfortable in this setting and we are not short of commonwealth countries. I see this as a perfect niche for them.

Meghan is an amazing public speaker.

NoTheresa · 24/09/2019 12:34

@AngelasKellyBag

I’m impressed by Meghan’s frugal wardrobe on this tour.

Maybe a lesson has finally been learnt.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 24/09/2019 12:37

Camilla looks like a Jilly Cooper reader.
