Oh and it rhymes!

I'm getting these for Christmas and I would love to wear them with socks a la the website photos.

It's a resounding no from me.

Ha ha no!! I once inadvertently wore my Birkenstock Madrid's out with socks to the beach. It was so comfy and warm I left them on for a while!!! 😂

Aramox · 20/09/2019 06:22

Why

Elodie2019 · 20/09/2019 06:33

Comfiest thing ever. (Not to be worn out of the house)

Idontneeditatall · 20/09/2019 07:02

Noooo!

LiliesAndChocolate · 20/09/2019 07:04

Only if you live in Berlin or Vienna!

sigmaalphamu · 20/09/2019 07:13

I live in London if that makes any difference. I think she looks great!

I love my Birkenstock's. I love my socks. But not wearing them at the same time. Not a good look IMO.

AutumnalLeaves38 · 20/09/2019 07:22

Well, you could, but surely you'd prefer rocking these winter beauties, non?

It's a thing and I was going to say if you live Central London, Brighton, Bristol, somewhere with an eclectic mix of people, fashion wise, then go for it. I would. (I'd say go for it if you like it regardless, but seeing as you're asking in S&B, you're obviously unsure)

Not sure about white for winter though. I'd have thought brown or black with a grey or fairisle sock, faded jeans and chunky sweater would look good. (Pinterest has loads of looks if you search Brikenstock sock outfit!). I also like the slip on Boston with socks too, although that's probably more acceptable.

@AutumnalLeaves38 I literally hate them

I work in a 'fashion' place and loads of people wear socks with sandals, all sorts - even mule type sandals. It's definitely a thing!

AutumnalLeaves38 · 20/09/2019 07:39

You're not alone!

Lamentations · 20/09/2019 07:45

Yes do it! I have a pair of Boston's that I'm definitely wearing socks with. I bought a pair of Birkenstock slub socks especially for this purpose when I ordered the shoes.

drankthekoolaid · 20/09/2019 07:49

Socks and sandals are never a good look. If you want to look like a twat please go ahead.

Troels · 20/09/2019 07:53

I used to wear mine with socks in winter when I lived in California. It wasn't that unusual there though. Not white, nubuck with dark socks.

LaPampa · 20/09/2019 07:54

I have black Birkenstocks I often wear with chunky socks in the winter. I don’t love the white with thin socks look but actually who cares. I don’t love the look of the pool sliders (with or without socks) but so many teens / early twenties people do. If you like it, where it. Maybe test it out at home first.

Spinderellacutituponetime · 20/09/2019 07:54

If it’s a ‘thing’ it shouldn’t be. It’s hideous. Just because everyone might be doing it, doesn’t make it right!

LaPampa · 20/09/2019 07:54

*wear obviously. Phone typing !

RezCowgirl · 20/09/2019 07:56

Yes! I get a few odd looks from them in the village but they think I'm the kook from the big city so I may as well dress the part.

dudsville · 20/09/2019 07:57

I love it! I do go for the more classic combinations that chasingseagulls posted though. On sunny, dry but chilly days it is the perfect footwear. If you wear white sandals I'm wondering if a sock with a pale but definite colour would be better?

AntennaReborn · 20/09/2019 07:58

I like it but it's a difficult look to pull off. Some of the bright young things in my area wear that (artsy student types) and I think it looks great, but if you get it even slightly wrong with the rest of your outfit you're in frump territory

tryingoutgreyhair · 20/09/2019 08:01

Looks great!

But what looks great and cool on gorgeous models like those in the pics can just look frumpy and belonging in the garden centre on people like me (pleated midi skirts I'm looking at you)

Might reduce unwanted male attention as a bonus

AchangeIsSound · 20/09/2019 08:39

I actually think the models totally pull it off but have yet to see anybody in real life manage to!!!

PhonicTheHedgehog · 20/09/2019 08:41

Of course it’s ok. I’m doing it right this second. So comfy. I’m on my way to work in London if that matters.
A warning.
Not great in the rain.
