Help! Which boots? Pics

I am feeling incapable of making a decision between these boots and I really don't need both pairs!

Roll top ones - nearly £200 (eek). Have loved them for ages - particularly the roll top - and finally succumbed. Lovely soft leather. But... do they look a bit wide around my calves and perhaps they feel a bit big, clunk a bit when I walk (could obviously try a smaller size).

Suede slouch - £75 (reduced from £155 - bargain Grin). Really comfortable, perfect fit. But ... are they likely to get ruined quickly? Do they look a bit, well, less stylish or something than the other pair?

Also a bit worried about spending loads on ankle boots when they've now been around for years and may soon feel dated. I'm normally good at making decisions but feel idiotically incapable on this GrinConfused

Please help!

I have to be honest with you, I hate both of them.

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 12/09/2019 08:57

I’m not in love with either of them tbh, but I prefer the roll top.

ellsbellls · 12/09/2019 08:57

That's very helpful Pinkyyy, thanks! Grin

Oh i actually like them but the roll top ones look better 👢

Pinkyyy · 12/09/2019 09:00

SorryBlush I just think they look so outdated!

TheCatInAHat · 12/09/2019 09:02

The roll top ones look too big and not a great fit- kind of look cheap. The slouchy ones are a good fit but as you say will get wrecked quickly.

ellsbellls · 12/09/2019 09:07

Aaah! You're all making me doubt myself completely! Thinking of wearing them with midi skirts/dresses in the main, rather than over jeans like photo. Just in case that makes any difference Confused

Are they white or grey? They look white... if so they need to go back!!

ellsbellls · 12/09/2019 09:14

Both light grey

Oh goodness
I’m sorry OP but both are truly grim

Kenworthington · 12/09/2019 09:18

Weird in the first picture they look grey. Anyway I really really really don’t like the fold over ones. The cold looks too high. They’re just an odd shape. The slouchy ones much much better imo but honestly I’m not keen on either. Think it’s the colour

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 12/09/2019 09:20

Slouchy.

TimeToGetMeBack · 12/09/2019 09:21

The roll top ones are the better of the two, but they also remind me of puss in boots

ellsbellls · 12/09/2019 09:27

Oh god! Puss in boots! You're right Grin

Ok, we'll, if I were to send both back, could you style gurus advise on what sort of boots to wear with this type of dress please? Please don't say you hate the dress too because I love it and it suits me!

I love the colour.

Pinkyyy · 12/09/2019 10:19

The dress is lovely! I'd do a brown boot with it.

I would probably go for something like this, they still have the scrunch look that you like, and they're in the sale!

Pinkyyy · 12/09/2019 10:20

Damn it didn't check the sizes and most are out of stock. But definitely something along those lines.

BogglesGoggles · 12/09/2019 10:25

The boots do look quite dated. I’d wear that dress with brogues/loafers or leather sneakers (you can get both platformed if you need height)

SleepyKat · 12/09/2019 10:29

I’d wear trainers with that dress, not boots at all. Both boots are horrible, sorry.

Sooverthemill · 12/09/2019 10:30

I have no idea of your age so please don't be offended when I suggest you look at this blog post about boots and bags for this season? The writer is very good at sorting through the trends imo and has suggested boot types for this season.

I do not like either of the boots you posted ( I'm sorry) but if you love gem then buy and wear with joy

thestarvingcaterpillar · 12/09/2019 10:43

The dress is gorgeous but the boots aren't great Op (sorry) i think something like this would go v well with it www.very.co.uk/v-by-very-dixie-studded-mid-heel-point-court-shoes-nude/1600343853.prd

eurochick · 12/09/2019 10:47

The slouchy are better but will get trashed quickly. The roll top are awful. Slutty pirate is not a good look. Sorry.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 12/09/2019 10:53

I think they are both very dated and really horrible not nice at all.

Seem very impractical and don't think the colour goes with that dress or would last more than one wet winters day.

I agree current trend would be trainers with that dress but the brown boots @Pinkyyy posted bit better but not a fan of the slouch

Think @eurochick nailed it Slutty pirate is not a good look. Sorry

AlexaAmbidextra · 12/09/2019 11:08

These remind me of the 80s sorry. To be worn with skinny jeans, a sequinned batwing jumper and a scrunched mullet. 😂

fantasmasgoria1 · 12/09/2019 11:15

Neither are nice. They don't look worth the money really.
