Yes and owls were a big thing a while ago. And moustaches Confused

SistersOfMerci · 07/09/2019 19:25

The identikit look that young some women have now. They look like they've come off the factory line with the exact same makeup and hair, fillers and pouts.

Positives are that it's now entirely acceptable for women to wear really comfy shoes, not just to work but on nights out too.

FFSDH · 07/09/2019 19:30

It’s flamingo’s (flamingoes?) at the moment. I think parrots will be next. Quite a lot of sloths around too. Fashion is weird.

foxtiger · 07/09/2019 19:53

Cold shoulder tops, pugs on everything, huge rectangular brown eyebrows, contouring (which makes people look like Kryten), the obsession with straighteners, those big round earring things that look like plugs, shortish trousers but not really capris - they just look like they're slightly too short!

A few years ago I would have said for men it might be what I called "nappy jeans" - with the curved legs so that when they were hanging up they looked like a baby in a nappy was inside them - but thankfully they seem to be rare now.

BirthdayDreamer · 07/09/2019 19:54

Flamingos
Unicorns
Pineapples
Top knot/messy buns!
Rose Gold/Pale Grey/Marble effect everything.... (yawn)
Contouring, highlighter, bum enhancement, brows

Fish lip pouts.

theresamaysnecklace · 07/09/2019 21:18

The selfie face (you know- taken from up above, big pout, lots of photoshop)*

Lol know so many of these. Completely run of the mill average in the school run, supermodels on facebook!

AuntieStella · 07/09/2019 21:21

If looking at the whole decade:

  • biker jackets
  • eyebrows
  • contouring

and the WTF retrospective: weird sleeves and cold shoulder going beyond beach/resort clothes

StCharlotte · 08/09/2019 01:04

wisdom tooth figure

PeriComoToes · 08/09/2019 08:01

gingersausage · 08/09/2019 08:56

I’m slightly confused why this thread, rather than being about decade defining trends, has turned partly into a nasty bitch-fest about body shapes and plastic surgery. Not to mention the idiots who can’t even figure out which board it’s on and shoehorn bloody politics in 🤦‍♀️.

Swiftier · 08/09/2019 09:09

Just an excess of everything- big filled lips, overdone bold eyebrows, contouring etc. The opposite of a natural look. My friend turned up for daytime drinks recently with loads of contouring and it just looked odd.

I think I’ll also remember it for skinny jeans, man buns, beards, trainers with everything but also the big oversized clumpy trainers, statement coats, pastels, rose gold...

Lamentations · 08/09/2019 10:51

Massive eyebrows and massive beards. In an age where there is so much photographic evidence as well Grin

And tattoos. Everyone with full sleeves and meaningful quotes tattooed across their necks.

GigiIdid · 08/09/2019 11:59

@gingersausage I agree, I thought it was light hearted but it’s gone nasty. Hopefully the next decade will be remembered for live and let live.

BirthdayDreamer · 08/09/2019 15:21

Gigildid you said veneers though as your contribution...?

GigiIdid · 08/09/2019 19:10

@BirthdayDreamer I did, I think this decade will be remembered for the Hollywood smile. I stand by my comment, thanks.

tinytemper66 · 08/09/2019 19:27

Slogans on clothing.

You're obviously too young to remember the 80s Smile

DeathBySnuSnu · 08/09/2019 20:10

Face tattoos
Grey hair
Heavy makeup

AlwaysOnAbloodyDiet · 08/09/2019 20:14

I've just watched a live performance by The Mamas and The Papas (California Dreamin') from the 1960s, and the blonde singer is wearing a striped top, (almost) skinny jeans and white trainers.

It's pretty much exactly what a woman of her age would wear today

Unicorn/mermaid/fairy/dragon/angel/iridescent/holographic/
duochrome everything. (Not complaining, I'm a huge fan of sparkly shite.)
Crazy shiny highlighter. (Also a huge fan of this, I'm wearing a load of silver stuff on my cheekbones as I type.)
The freedom to express yourself with make-up and hair. I hope this continues, because I love being able to amble into Boots/Superdrug/Kiko and pick up green, blue or grey lipstick. It was insanely hard to get hold of these colours even ten years ago.
Rainbow eyeshadow palettes, yes please.
Rose gold jewellery has been massive (and is very very pretty, I'm a convert,) as has rose gold in general. (I love it, fight me.)

Pusheen the cat, and narwhals.
Galaxy and rainbow themed things.
Pointy toed ankle boots.
Pumpkin spiced latte (although I don't drink coffee, so I have it as hot chocolate instead.)
Plaid shirts.
Flared sleeves were big in 2017 but didn't really last (much to my disappointment, I love witchy sleeves!)
Liquid lipsticks and matte lips have been huge this decade, although glossy lips are making a comeback (you can prise my matte lipsticks (Revlon, Kiko and MAC) from my cold dead hands, although I'm not a huge fan of some liquid lipsticks.)
(These are my favourite things, I haven't really paid attention to anything else.)

Whoever said ankle boots with dresses is hideousness, what's wrong with it? I wear that combination (or with skirts) all the time!

I can think of make up things from 2012 that seemed huge but didn't last, like jelly lipsticks. (Does that seem ages ago? Cos that seems like ages ago to me.)

Sarcelle · 08/09/2019 22:56

Jumpers with stars on them

gingersausage · 09/09/2019 09:17

@SapphireSeptember, apart from pumpkin spice 🤢, I think you are me 🤣

Floisme · 09/09/2019 10:51

The disappearance of street style - twinned with teenagers dressing like their parents.

The decline and fall of real shops.

Influencers and Insta-fashion.

Getting rid of all your clothes, buying a load of new ones and calling it a capsule wardrobe.
