I see the same ‘joke’ over and over and over again. We’re not rude about any other style of hair cut so what makes a short bob open to it?

I’ve had versions of bobs my whole adult life. I’m chronically ill and it takes a toll on my hair. It’s fine and thin. It can’t handle being coloured. It always looks best in a short sharp bob, cut into my neck at the back. Any longer and it looks like rats tails, any shorter and it sits flat to my head.

Reading the constant piss-take comments about my hairstyle gets me down (and there’s at least one on every short hair style thread).

It’s not even funny, it’s just boring.

Why would you try to police a joke about a hair cut? Seriously?

It’s funny cos it’s true. And if that is your haircut, you’ve really just reinforced this.

It wasn't until I looked here that I found out that the name for those haircuts is "undercut bob".

I'd always thought of them as "that one the makes your head look like an alien in profile"

2 the name is a description of the style
3 you can’t tell people they can’t use the name, nor that they can’t be amused.

The meme is just poking fun at the fact that it's middle aged women who make the most "speak to the manager" complaints. Which IS accurate in the experience of many who work in retail.

I have a bob, I always have had. I'm 51.
I had it cut last week. I said to dp "shall I have it shorter or ask her to keep the length and just take the weight out?".

He said "well, just don't have a bob" 🙄

So, people don't know what a bob is.

Fwiw, my hair cut is all one length, no fringe, side parting, chin length-ish. I call that a bob. Pretty much has been since my mid twenties.
