Random question but I recognise the picture of the women on her dress from that video shot. Is she famous? Why have I seen it before?

It's so unique, I've not seen a wedding dress like that before.

A double thumbs up from me from stepping out the box a little bit and being confident in it.

Do not like the dress. She can do better than that. What’s with having ‘the white rose of York’ embroidered all over the frock? She is from Herefordshire. She should have had bottles of Bulmer’s cider in crystal relief and an apple headdress. If only she had asked my advice!

Clearly you never stayed in a cheap hotel in the 80s @eeksville - the woman on her top is from something like the most reproduced non-Warhol painting of the 60s. Can't remember what it's called but by the time i was a kid in the 80s it was flipping everywhere!

Yes - I thought that too! My nan had a picture of a Spanish (?) woman in a courtyard holding a jug, or similar. Or the Mexican wife in the shooting scene The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. The face is one of thousands of similar dark, latin, looks.

northbacchus it was in York, and I can attest that it certainly wasn't "boiling". I had a jacket on today for the first time in weeks. Is there anywhere in the UK that's actually hot at the moment? A lot of people seem to be confused on this point.

I thought she looked stunning. Very simple and elegant, befitting of the venue. Least it wasn't the tacky lace strapless a line that a billion and one other brides have worn before her.

Are strapless dresses still ubiquitous though? I keep seeing lace sleeves and thirties style ivory dresses with sleeves and high necks. I think about ten years ago and before that, there was nothing but strapless white dresses, which I also found very blah as a style.

The most recent bride I saw IRL had on a quite revealing, cut out dress. Again, not my cup of tea, but it was definitely different to that typical strapless number everyone wore years ago.

Meghan Markle looked so amazing in hers and it was also very demure I thought. So I don't necessarily think this dress Ellie Goulding is totally out there or unexpected.

Thanks for the responses. I was born in the 80s but my parents aren't English, only pics my Granny had were of Jesus 😁. I must have come across it at some point though.

Ellie’s dress, although quite grim, is far from the most hideous wedding frock I have seen. The prize belongs to lady Mary Chatteris. Can’t post a picture but look it up.
