Her clothes are bizarre imo. Like she’s uncomfortable in her own skin and poorly advised with little real sense of self.

Which tbf I imagine is a fairly good description of a woman in her position. I meant be cognitive dissonance required must be astonishing.

AppleKatie · 24/08/2019 23:00

Argh sorry fat fingers and it’s late. I hope you get the gist.

Daisypie · 24/08/2019 23:36

Not sure why Melania is on this thread. I can't see past her life choices and her criminally incompetent husband.

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 25/08/2019 00:42

Ibizan villa where H&M went on holiday

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 25/08/2019 00:58

Apparently Fergie has been checking out destination wedding venues in Italy (she was tagged on her driver’s Instagram).
That would solve many pr problems for a public uk wedding.
If it’s true then I’d be impressed by Beatrice not wanting the whole Royal pomp.

I couldn't think of anything worse than a hot holiday destination with a young baby.

I love that pic of K & W on the beach.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 25/08/2019 07:57

Fergie would marry him again to protect his image. But how would that work once back in UK. Would she be back in the balcony again?

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/08/2019 08:12

If it was that villa complete with air conditioning and staff then I think I'd survive @UrsulaPandress!

I was starting to quite like Fergie but surely even she must realise that Andrew is seriously dodgy? Remarrying him isn't going to take the heat off.

That would be a lovely house to go to with friends but I’d have hated it if I’d gone with just a tiny baby & my husband, I’d have felt lonely! So much more fun in a group.

BlingLoving · 25/08/2019 08:25

The Andrew thing is mind boggling. His most recent statement is so bad as to be laughable. I have to wonder about the advice the royal family, particularly the queen, are getting right now. Or, are they riding roughshod over any advice?

The queens admission of her annus horribilis didn't juat happen. One assumes she had people advising her. I actually think the current situation, with all of them(K&W, M&H etc), is a sign of not just terrible direct advisors but a lack something - gravitas? Credibility? Sincerity? - more generally around them up to and including the prime minister. I always got the sense that while prime ministers loved to comment on how great the queen was as a sounding board that they also acted as advisors to her. But the recent and current lot are just so pointless. And that goes for many others in positions of political, economic or other types of power.

There's this real dumbing down of people and positions of power. Older people who should have experience to bring to bear are just shallow and out of touch. And younger people might have the right mind set but don't have the experience or the deep understanding of systems and processes yet.

Sorry for this long rambling commentary. I'm just terrified that what's happening with the royal family is actually a sign of how screwed things are generally.

Sadly, it also makes me wonder if the queen is just too old and out of touch. In one of the videos at the Chelsea garden show some middle aged woman was showing the queen around and speaking in that awful patronising tone people use on old people. Obviously that's on her, not the queen, but I can't help thinking that if this is how she's being treated generally then there's no way she can.properly engage with her subjects.

lavenderandthyme · 25/08/2019 08:30

@BlingLoving
You are so right. That’s exactly how I feel.

I would be disgusted to hear Fergie and Andrew are remarrying. Think they are both repulsive freeloaders with no moral compass.

UrsulaPandress · 25/08/2019 08:32

I've always lived under the assumption that the people in power largely know what they are doing.

It's a bit of a shock to realise they are winging it like the rest of us.

BertrandRussell · 25/08/2019 08:36

“I couldn't think of anything worse than a hot holiday destination with a young baby”

What, even in an air conditioned fully staffed villa with a nanny?

BertrandRussell · 25/08/2019 08:38

“I've always lived under the assumption that the people in power largely know what they are doing”

They do.That’s the problem.

Rhubarbisevil · 25/08/2019 08:39

You’d think the photograph would have made the bed in those Ibiza villa photos!

latedecember1963 · 25/08/2019 08:39

I think Curlywurlytwirly meant wedding venues for Beatrice to get married in.

I can't see Fergie remarrying Andrew with all that could start to come out about his dubious friendships. Surely loyalty and wanting to think the best of someone can only be tested so far?

onyourway · 25/08/2019 08:47

I love that beach shot, surely they must have seen a drone or pap on a cliff? It's so clear.

BlingLoving · 25/08/2019 08:49

What beach shot? I haven't seen that one?

Fergie has established herself over many years as well meaning but very dumb. If someone told her that remarryinb Andrew was a good idea she would do it.

lavenderandthyme · 25/08/2019 08:49

@late
Oh! I misunderstood. Why would she be doing that for her daughter? Surely that’s Beatrice’s job??

lavenderandthyme · 25/08/2019 08:49

Please link to beach shot!

hopeishere · 25/08/2019 08:59

Beach shot is above - Will and Kate kissing

I think the problem is you can have the best advisors and PR people in the world but if you don't listen to them and think you know better then you end up in more of a pickle.

onyourway · 25/08/2019 09:22

CurlyWurlyTwirly · 25/08/2019 10:02

Will & Kate on Norfolk beach.
Yes, I meant the wedding destinations are for Beatrice, as her boyfriend is of Italian descent.
I don’t know how Fergie & Andrew remarrying would save his image?
Sarah has a very nice life with her title but none of the restrictions of being in the RF.

Prince Charles has always been in favour of slimming down the RF.
Remember for the jubilee, there was only HM, PC, Camilla, W&K and Harry on the balcony. And for the flotilla thing, Andrew was on a lesser boat.

I think they are giving Andrew enough rope to hang himself with. In the RF, they protect the direct line of monarchs: Charles, William and in the future George.
HM may be a sweet old lady, but her (adult) life’s work has been 100% monarchy first. Remember 4 yo Prince Charles bring left for months with the QM?
I would say Princess Anne has been the first of the most normal Royal parents....

Ultimately the institution must come before Andrew. I suspect a nice foreign home is being researched for him tbh.

QueenOfTheAndals · 25/08/2019 10:07

I think in 10 years or so we'll see a very different monarchy - just Charles, his sons and their families taking top spots. Plus the Kents/Gloucesters may no longer be around. Though I guess Anne and the Wessexes can't just be put out to pasture. The "slimmed down" royal family is often talked about with regards to Andrew but not Charles' other siblings. But I also suspect their causes will be slimmed down too.
