I always love reading these type of threads for enabling inspiration.

I bought three basic t shirts from H&M recently - red and white stripe, mustard and grey. I love them ALL. They have slightly rounded hems which are more flattering on my shape (size 12 apple). And they were only a few quid each. I've been wearing them with denim shorts.

I'm also loving the No 7 Hydraluminous foundation which I tried and bought after seeing it mentioned on here.

I'm in the market for a longline, light grey cardigan for autumn if anyone has bought one recently?

I bought some straight leg jeans from M&S, a 20% discount meant they were £15 a pair. They're not going to win any style prizes but will be great for dog-walking.
I'm just eyeing up coatigans at the moment, not sure whether to get black or navy though.

A Navy trench coat linked on the Autumn thread, its from Baukjen and was heavily reduced, I love it so much I could practically marry it.

This top which I lurve. Complete strangers have complimented me on it. I'm surprised it even caught my attention actually because it looks awful on the model!

When I was on holiday in Greece a few weeks ago, I bought a couple of pairs of handmade Greek sandals and some gold jewellery. I like that the items are unique and they will always remind me of my holiday.

Whenever I go away, I always try and find something to remind me of my holiday like a beach dress, bag, jewellery etc.

The Hush khaki chinos I bought in May and have worn at least 3 times per week since!

Also some Aldo ankle strap flat black sandals which are way more comfy than I was worried they’d be.

mamaduckbone · 17/08/2019 21:58

Salt water sandals.
Soooo comfy and I've lived in them this summer.

pieeye · 18/08/2019 07:21

@StCharlotte I love Mango. Even though their 'plus size' range is considered to be size 12 and above Hmm

I bought a gorgeous snake print pleated midi skirt in the M&Co sale. Not my usual style at all but love twirling around in it!

Aderyn19 · 18/08/2019 08:13

I bought a long wool tube skirt from Next - reminded me of the ones I used to have from Richards years ago, that I lived in. Can't wait for autumn so I can wear it.
Also pleased with my grey Dune trainers, with a silver star on and a One Hundred Stars kimono which has replaced cardigans.

Alsohuman · 18/08/2019 08:15

That controversial Zara dress!

nitgel · 18/08/2019 08:17

Uniqlo U sweatshirt in a lovely apple green colour.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/08/2019 09:07

A couple of TShirts from Uniqlo, really heavy cotton and a flat rounded neckline with a thick edging band . I'm usually meh with their colours but there were some lovely ones .

And a recent QVC purchase - L'Occitane -which included a huge Almond Shower Oil ( nearly a litre ) Grin

MissClareRemembers · 18/08/2019 09:46

I get compliments for this dress and this jumpsuit.

I’ve worn the jumpsuit loads and now regret not buying it again when it went into the sale.

I also love my new Next but haven’t worn it yet...

A navy Boden dress. Bought in a hurry for a smart/casual evening. Amelie i think. Perfect fit, flattering, hangs well. Will definitely buy the long sleeved winter version in black.

Boden have a fab grey coatigan in the catalogue but it's £130. Made me baulk but I think I was paying 85/90 for the long line ones years ago.

Destinesia · 18/08/2019 15:26

I've had a bit of a run of luck, recent successes are:

a navy crop top bikini set from Next
a black t-shirt from M&S (longline relaxed fit) in the sale
Kevin Aucoin eyelash curler which came with a free full-size Kevin Aucoin tubing mascara
Soap and Glory AHA body lotion (I don't love the smell but it doesn't last long)
NYX brow pomade pencil, the brush on the end is brilliant.

lucylouis · 18/08/2019 15:33

A Louis Vuttion bag for getting a promotion- it's a sabbatical so only doing it for 6 months but the extra pay meant I could get the bag 😍

Lndnmummy · 18/08/2019 16:02

Uniqlo airism tops and underwear. They are magic.
Clarins hand and nail cream, id forgotten how utterly divine it is.

Chanellta · 18/08/2019 17:14

I bought a kimono on a random pop up stall recently that I adore, it's in pale blue with kingfisher type bird. Some joggers from next I live in and are smart enough to go out in and this bag so nice I've bought 3
www.myexquisiteshop.com/collections/womens-bags/products/camila-small-shoulder-bagel-bag?variant=18518307864691 I saw it recommended here and I love it

Shameless cross post:

Hey folks

As a size 18 with a 36FF chest and size 8 feet it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to buy nice clothes and shoes very easily in Turkey (where I live and work at the moment). So every summer when I come home I bring an empty suitcase and load up with clothes, shoes and beauty products. I thought I might share some of my fave buys of the summer:

In terms of beauty...
I finally went to Boots and did the colour match for foundation. As someone with medium skin that tans very easily - I need about 3 different colours to get me throughout the year. Summers in Istanbul are hot and humid and I have quite dry skin. I absolutely love the Hydraluminous foundation and I'm excited they actually had a shade that matched me!

I also got the Maple Glow Palette as a gift and I must say its very good. Pigmented enough to show on my skin, interesting colours that can have you from office to glam and small enough to travel with. I was really impressed with this!

I also discovered the Bobbi Brown Primer Plus which is perfect for working in a hot sweaty office and making sure your makeup looks on point and gives you good sun protection too]]

I have a skincare routine which I am really happy with (37, dry) that relies on a lot of The Ordinary products. I use the hyaluronic acid during the day under my moisturiser and at night I use the advanced retinol emulsion followed by the rosehip seed oil.

Buying shoes
to the horror of Mumsnetter I am a HUGe collector of Irregular Choice mid heels. I always pick up a couple of pairs when I'm back in the UK. And I wear them. Everyday. At work. Sorry (not sorry). My favourite pair I picked up were these

I also love Melisa shoes for summer as they look smart but are cool and comfortable so I bought a pair of these for work. The colour is lovely - a vintage-y greeny gold. And they're scented (not sure why!)

Shopping for clothes
My favourite place to buy clothes is Debenhams. I like that you can find stylish (for me) clothing that is pretty decent quality and don't insist in dressing plus-sizes in a variety of tunic-y tents. I discovered the brand Solo and bought a couple of their beautifully cut patterned linen dresses ( one and two ) which again, are perfect for a hot office.

My BFF convinced me to have a personal styling session at John Lewis. I've just been given a promotion and wanted some smarter, better quality workwear that still expressed my personality (I LOVE colour). I was really hesitant because I've never done anything like it before but my friend assured me it was a terrific experience, there was no obligation to buy and it meant I would try things I would normally walk past.

Well - I LOVED IT. For two hours I had a great time drinking prosecco and trying on beautiful clothes I would never have picked up if I had been by myself. It really helped me get outside my clothing rut. Even better, everything was discounted between 50 - 70%! I highly recommend this service ( I went to the JL in Edinburgh) and I think I will now just do this once or twice a year to update my wardrobe instead of getting sucked in by the fast fashion available. I have such wonderful quality pieces now.

My absolute favourite pieces were

These silk trousers (more olive than brown) which are as light as tissue paper and utterly gorgeous

This kimono dress which I would never have picked up in a million years but with a belt and gold sandals looks so chic

And finally - thanks to a suggestion here..

The Mia Tui Jennie bag in rose gold as my new work bag. Yes, I need to be able to carry a LOT of stiff and this is just perfect. Perfect size, perfect colour, robust and plenty of pockets. I also used the pouch with the long strap as my cross body bag this summer as it was the perfect size for my wallet and phone!

Anyway, I hope this is helpful to some people. I have taken so much from this forum - I thought it was about time I gave something back!
