Hi all, I've been following the tribe group on Facebook for a while but just wondering if anyone here has tried it. I can't seem to get to the bottom of what they advise, seasons etc. Is there something similar closer to London. And she keeps advising chunky trainers, is this a thing now?

I agree with some people being difficult to analyse. I’ve been told I am an autumn and a spring. I’ve got reddish blonde hair but olive skin and very dark brown eyes. I think autumn is right, although some of the spring colours look right on me. And if I wear ochre, I look all the same colour!

MulberryPeony · 05/08/2020 17:53

I blend into camel @MrsSchadenfreude
The more I try and analyse myself the more confusing it gets so I’m just wearing what the hell I want Wink. I think I’m spring judging by my fellow celebrity spring ladies colouring.

EndlessUserName · 05/08/2020 19:57

@Oopsadaisydoddle another poster here who was told I'm an autumn but I'm not sure it's right. We sound very similar colouring - I have brown hair, brown eyes, I get a red nose in the sun but can tan at times... Gold doesn't suit me, white does suit me. I absolutely hate olive, mustard etc. I've always been drawn to jewel colours. I don't identify either with any of the autumn celebs. Since the analysis I've tried more autumn colours and lots of them do suit me. So perhaps I'm borderline too? Is this possible?

I don't understand why people keep saying Susie doesn't know her own shape? She's always said she's a pear... That's right isn't it?!

Is it right that you tend to be drawn to the colours for whatever season you are? I tend to veer more to autumn colours and have done a quiz on the Kettlewell website that said I was an autumn. But I have fair skin that doesn't tan very easily, blue eyes and (highlighted) blonde hair that was naturally a mousey brown.

evilharpy · 05/08/2020 21:31

@Oopsadaisydoddle I don't think I actually used the word "lipodema" to be fair, I probably just said "massive calves". But still. I didn't say I hate my massive calves, or look at the state of them, just they are massive and I struggle to get them into jeans, please can anyone recommend some!

@Oopsadaisydoddle it was white jeans I had taken a fancy to, I did get a pair in the end from M&S I think but ended up never wearing them as I was too scared of getting them filthy, they're still in the cupboard! I can actually sew, to a point, but tell myself I'll do things and never get around to it. I have in the past bought bootcut jeans from charity shops and taken them in which has worked pretty well.

I used to always wear silver but nowadays am drawn far more to gold and think it suits me. I wear a lot of neutrals (grey, navy, black, cream/beige) and tend to go for burgundy, bottle green, rust type colours. I have very very little in pastels or brights and would just never ever wear something like cerise pink or cadbury purple (although I do have a couple of things in royal blue).

I do have very blue veins though, sometimes my wrists look like the Piccadilly Line, which is supposed to mean you're cool-toned.

TofinoSurf · 06/08/2020 06:59

I've just finished reading this entire thread (over a few days!) and it's been very interesting and informative.

I have zero body confidence and have never had style or known my colours. I was already following SBS business page, hadn't seen the group. This is the kind of service I would have bought and I actually wouldn't have known if they got it wrong. I just don't have a clue about any of this stuff, I just can't see it. Anyway I will most definitely be steering clear now. What I do find strange though is that the business page reviews is 5 out of 5 and I can't find a single negative review. I didn't think businesses could delete reviews so how is this happening? Has anyone on here tried leaving a negative review on the SBS page?

Anyway I hope to get to goal weight eventually and it sounds like House of Colour may be a good reward/incentive. I can see it's worth paying the money if you get a personalised service with excellent results.

Cherrypie32 · 06/08/2020 07:25

Tof I don’t know about the negative reviews but my advice would be to go down the House of Colour and maybe then JL stylist or independent stylist route. If you’ve worked hard on losing weight and gaining self esteem you deserve more than a Sainsbury’s jumpsuit and plastic earrings. I would like to see someone recommend you some classic pieces to kickstart your style which you could add to as you feel more confident.

Oliversmumsarmy · 06/08/2020 08:20

I kept thinking of 1980s Madonna. Now have the song Borderline playing in my head.

I was too old for that look in 1983 let alone now.

ohmygiddiest · 06/08/2020 09:33

What @Cherrypie32 said x 100. Fabulous post!

@Oopsadaisydoddle yeah I never really got to the point where I could produce decent stuff in any sort of realistic timeframe. It takes me forever. Plus I hate hemming so I'd make a skirt or pair of trousers or something and it would sit for months or years unwearable because I couldn't be arsed finishing it off! I can quite happily put a couple of darts in something though.

EndlessUserName · 06/08/2020 12:59

@TofinoSurf this is a bit of a SBS thing to say Grin but... I think get your colours done anytime, even before goal weight - your shape and colour will stay the same even when you lose weight, and it will only help you feel even better about yourself which can only be a good thing Smile

EndlessUserName · 06/08/2020 13:00

Is the house of colours online or in person only? reluctant to part with more money though, is there a big difference between house and SBS?

EndlessUserName · 06/08/2020 13:03

Also, does anyone follow anyone stylish on insta?

@stopfundinghate I can see the logic but I find shopping for clothes really hard whilst overweight that restricting my colours at the moment would just make it harder. I'm just grateful if I find something that fits and is comfortable. But I'm also not buying much at the moment either as don't want to waste money on new clothes if (hopefully) I don't stay that size for long.

Standrewsschool · 06/08/2020 14:27

I’ve found shopping easier since having the SBS analysis, because I looking at things that suit me. I may see that xyz look great in a certain outfit, but if that person is not my shape, those no point me contemplating it. I will be disappointed.

After putting on weight (due to medication) I used to cry when trying new clothes on or getting ready to go out. Now I have far more body confidence, even in my size 18 shorts.

ohmygiddiest · 06/08/2020 14:58

@Oopsadaisydoddle £189!! That really takes biscuit. I actually feel a bit angry after reading that. A proper, professional company would have tried to help you and if they could not, then offered a refund or some other sort of compensation. Their replied that you received from Susie and the banning from the group are in no way acceptable. I would be taking this matter further if I were you.

@stopfundinghate I don't follow her but I look at their instagram posts mainly just to amuse myself and to make absolute sure that I know how NOT to dress.

WowStarsWow · 06/08/2020 15:07

stopfundinghate yes hoc is in person only. HoC won't necessarily tell you your shape or style (that's a separate service to the colour analysis unlike with susie). They will spend much longer figuring out your season and show you how it works and explain everything. It's usually in a group so you can see it work for other people as well. Plus they rate each colour within the palette for you so you know which suit you best. You also get an actual book of swatches to keep (though I think this is paper now, not fabric) and a booklet with notes in.
