I look forward to September and the change in weather move to autumny clothes.... I don't know why but I really, really fancy some super leather cowboy boots... plus pinafore dresses :)

For all the short & petite ladies on here, I've just purchased some great autumn jumpers (both pure cotton!) and a trench coat from the Zara Kids section:

www.zara.com/uk/en/basic-knit-sweater-p04127703.html?v1=12758037&v2=1282241

www.zara.com/uk/en/basic-trench-coat-p07901702.html?v1=12755394&v2=1282211

www.zara.com/uk/en/striped-knit-sweater-p03471762.html?v1=12755520&v2=1283340

I'm 5'0", usually a UK 4-6 and the age 11-12 fits me perfectly! Plus you really can't beat the price. :)

Apples and acorns

^^

I've had kids shoes from Zara and they've been really great. A pair of brown suede boots have lasted years, loads of compliments etc.

LuxuryWoman2018 · 21/08/2019 13:23

I wish I could buy kids shoes - my enormous feet!

99problemsandjust1appt · 21/08/2019 13:33

I’m stuck in a rut I know I’ll go straight back to leggings long tops and baggy cardigans 😔 literally have no idea what to do with myself when it comes to clothes

DisgruntledGuineaPig · 21/08/2019 15:42

@applesandacorns - Oh. My. Days. That trench! I'm pretty sure the 13-14 years looks like a size 6-8. Thank you! I've still been hoping the Hobbs Petite trench will come back into stock in a size 6, but if this works, it'll save me £150 ! Thanks!

cheesenpickles · 21/08/2019 15:52

Got my Stitch Fix and I was really really impressed! I've only kept one piece because I had an unexpected cost that's cropped up Sad but I would have happily kept every item bar one which was some tailored trousers that arrived already wrinkled. They totally nailed what I was after and some really interesting things I never would have picked. Kept a seersucker cami from Warehouse which although is summery, I could easily see being a staple in my wardrobe. It was £22 but because you can offset the cost of the fix I've paid £10. There was a pair of Scotch + Soda jeans which I looveeedddd and they fit like a dream but were too pricey to buy when I'm in the process of losing weight. I would have kept them in a heartbeat if I'd reached my goal weight though and will be asking for them to send them again/buying them myself later on.

If you're feeling a bit lost with your style or in a rut, I'd definitely recommend.

Nearlyadoctor · 21/08/2019 15:57

My coat and boots have arrived - really pleased with both. Also ordered a Schoffel fleece in Kingfisher which is fab. Must stop spending now and shop my wardrobe going forward Smile

That’s a lovely coat Nearlyadoctor

Finally I’m seeing some autumn stuff, caught a glimpse of some nice teal and berry colours In Wallis although their materials are a bit nylony, still new stock is arriving.

BelindasGleeTeam · 21/08/2019 18:36

My lovely wine/plum coloured cape and lippy to match
Brogue boots. I will cry when mine die.

I've just bought a cord skirt in a dark mustard/rust shade that goes with loads as I wear a lot of navy but am gradually adding more black back in. I got bored of black!!

And I may have bought two more dresses from popsy for work. Dresses with pockets are a total winner.

applesandacorns · 21/08/2019 19:06

@DisgruntledGuineaPig It would almost certainly fit a size 8! I actually have two other coats from Zara Kids last season and they're lovely. They do some quite classic bits to say they're a children's range!

Nearlyadoctor · 21/08/2019 20:24

Thank you @LuxuryWoman2018 - really pleased with it. Flattering fitted without being too restrictive.
I love this time of year when new boots and coats are about, I’ve never really been a fan of summer clothes because some years there’s so little opportunity to wear them.

LuxuryWoman2018 · 21/08/2019 20:51

@nearlyadoctor true, and then we get a random heatwave and have nothing to wear 😀 but yes, I think autumn is a bit easier to dress in.

Notmyrealname855 · 21/08/2019 22:55

Hello all - sorry to interrupt, but I thought maybe it was on this thread that I saw something recommend Protected Species for jackets. I’ve ordered it and it’s... fine? It looks like a plain granny raincoat - does anyone have one and would they recommend it for durability (if not style)? The hype is great online so feel I’m missing something!

LuxuryWoman2018 · 22/08/2019 08:17

Did you see the Baukjenn one a few of us ordered Notmyrealname855 it’s gorgeous, www.baukjen.com/products/clarke-trench-classic-navy Or did you want something more ‘coaty’ ( not had enough coffee to think of a better word)

LuxuryWoman2018 · 22/08/2019 13:54

Meant to add the code they sent me after SHARE15 for 15% discount if anyone wants it.

Notmyrealname855 · 22/08/2019 19:03

Oh I loved that baukjen trench! Ordered it in two sizes but both don’t quite fit (though the material and general cut is really good)... might have bought this one though www.baukjen.com/collections/sale-jackets-coats/products/myla-coat-navy-soft-white-check and it’s a beauty!

I came across this thread when I was quiet at work and bought lots of stuff online Blush But I haven’t been into fashion for a while and am crediting this thread with waking me up!

Also bought a needle and thread dress on sale that I’ll never need but refusing to give up, and some fab dresses on sale from Moda Operandi. For some reason Autumn fashion is much more exciting than spring/summer, love the colours and finding that perfect coat.

But the anorak might be a miss... I’d seen it recommended on mumsnet and it’s fine (and was on sale!), but doesn’t make my heart sing. The leopard print coat above did! But I’m not brave enough to buy :)

LuxuryWoman2018 · 22/08/2019 20:19

notmyrealname that's a shame about the trench, it's so nice. I agree about autumn colours, all the berry and rust colours are lovely and I've seen jade and teal a lot to.

BenWillbondsPants · 22/08/2019 21:01

@Notmyrealname855 Oh I LOVE that coat! No way can I buy another one though!

EnidButton · 22/08/2019 23:33

Very tempted by that coat Not. Would it look ok with skinnies and boots? Rather than more 'formal' things I mean. (It's late, I know what I mean. Grin)

Sigh81 · 23/08/2019 07:09

Payday today. Massively overdue some beautiful underwear (at 30E a lot of it seems quite frumpy) so bought this from John Lewis. Fingers crossed it fits!

Autumn wardrobes.... what are we thinking of?
BarrenFieldofFucks · 23/08/2019 08:05

I've got a few dresses for the autumn/winter, am quite large at the moment and they can be more flattering.

I found a couple of short ones in m&s, this one is lovely but borderline too short for me at 5'8" www.marksandspencer.com/pintuck-relaxed-mini-dress/p/p60275553?image=SD_01_T42_7335_Y0_X_EC_90&color=BLACK&prevPage=plp plus a ditsy print version.

Then a green zebra one from warehouse www.warehouse.co.uk/gb/clothing/dresses/tiger-print-mini-shirt-dress/035959.html?dwvar_035959_color=24&cgid=dresses

I also bought a grey cord pinafore style from Seasalt which should be nice over tops etc.

I do need to find some new boots, I have black bikers so maybe some brown/tan?

BarrenFieldofFucks · 23/08/2019 08:08

I also ordered this, think it may be a bit formal though

www.tkmaxx.com/women/clothing/jackets+coats/burgundy-wool-trench-coat/p/35040247

Rollerbird · 23/08/2019 10:33

@BarrenFieldofFucks I LOVE the zebra one.

Notmyrealname855 · 23/08/2019 12:17

Sigh81 and Barren just when I thought I was out of things to buy! :) I love this thread!

The other Baukjen coat is really nice and fits very well, good material and I’ve worn it with a dress underneath but just tried with jeans and looks fab too. Going to throw on a big snood when it gets chilly. It’s about as funky as I go, wish I had the pizazz to pull off a bolder coat!

Shame about the trench, and think I’ll return the Protected Species anorak too.

If anyone has tips on good boots...

BarrenFieldofFucks · 23/08/2019 12:21

It is very cute, I love the dark pattern. Again, borderline short, but with thick tights will be fine.
