laska, do you think this would dye to a cool dark navy, or would it always have a hint of yellow in it? It’s a camel poplin shirt, can’t remember what on earth prompted me to buy it as camel doesn’t suit me at all.

Hello all. Sorry I've been AWOL. Work's been crazy, and the last thing I've wanted to do is look at more screens...And I've been unremittingly knackered over the past week or so - went to bed at 9 yesterday and still exhausted this morning. Gaaaahhhh.

Have loved catching up though, and seeing your photos and buys.

never I really like the dresses on you (posted a long time ago now I think!) - the hush blue one from the new collection and the leopard from twist one - v flattering.

laska agree with the others, the "scandi" look is brill on you. I do think that lots of toast stuff goes much better together than it "should" . Like the wide trousers and that rusty top you have - and the striped top with the olive trousers. Going by the "slimmer-fitting top with wide legged bottom" rule they shouldn't work - but demonstrably they do! You look great!

len - so glad your DD and family have their new place now. yy - take it gently!

soy - the white stuff stuff is beautiful - and really good value. Love the teal jumper especially. Will look lovely on you. I confess i haven't really looked in there for a while, especially during sales, as it seems to be rack upon rack of printed tunics that just aren't the right shape for me, but they do have the odd gem.

ella lovely jeans too. I've got some jigsaw jeans (their "slim boyfriend" cut) and I agree, they are beautifully soft denim. Mine do go ridiculously big at the waist though within about 30min of putting them on -which is fine with a belt, but rather embarassing without! Also really looking forward to seeing your boden coat too. It looks lovely on the website (and it doesn't have that fecking awful lining Grin ).

cherries - oooof. I'm always tired just reading your various travel exploits! Hope you're having a more gentle day today. I was wondering the same about wide legged crops. I have seem them styled with socks/ brogues, or ankle boots (chelsea boots, or flat narrow lace ups, or sort of desert-boot type things) but I know what you mean about the "look" feeling a bit odd. I'm wondering if it will become more "usual" this winter, given wide crops have been everywhere this summer, and while the silhouette used to look odd to me, its now perfectly fine. May just need to get my eye in! (And i know your current dislike of toast, but they seem to have styled some of their winter trousers like that - like the model on the page with the striped swing jumper).

Speaking of which - I do appear to have bought that jumper Blush (I know, I know...) I love it - though it seems like the reviewers on the site really don't. It's not as heavy weight as i was expecting, and a bit shorter but is great as an extra layer at the moment, and the neck would work with a polo neck or just a long sleeved tee later on. Its lovely and swingy, and smells nice and sheepy (in a good way...). Sleeves are good, but I can't wash up with them on Grin . I thought it would work with skinny jeans - but it doesn't at all with me (too short so it hits the widest part of me and then flares out a bit more!) - but is good with wider trousers and long skirts - and possibly slimmer but more relaxed trousers too (need to experiment). Photos in next post...

Also I tried dying the pale grey marl cropped joggers to make them less pale and grey. They are now very purple and rather good (still a bit marl-y and with white stitching - but the silver sparkle on the waist tie looks nice with the purple). Still drying, as our tumble drier is STILL knackered and everything is taking ages to dry.

Jumper with olive cropped jeans...

Ellapaella · 19/08/2019 16:43

Ooh I love theToast jumper @NotAnActualSheep ❤️👌

ilovecherries · 19/08/2019 16:54

Love your jumper, not. I’m not actually anti-Toast - that would be taking my principles TOO far 🤣. I just won’t ever buy from them online again because I don’t trust their ability or willingness to respond appropriately when something goes wrong. But Toast shops and JL are still fair game.

ilovecherries · 19/08/2019 16:57

I am actually waiting for Toast twill trousers to arrive from JL. Will be here tomorrow. Not buying knitwear till after my holidays, but I do love a good jumper. I’m actually a pretty good knitter but cannot be arsed with the finishing off. Turning in all those ends, blocking it all out and stitching bits together is so boring.

OP posts:
Ellapaella · 19/08/2019 17:16

I wish I could knit, given my love of knitwear it would be amazing. My Aunt is a very talented knitter and has her own label, she designs and makes many hats and accessories. I've had a few gorgeous gifts from her over the years.
My Mum taught me when I was younger but I never got further than doing a scarf or blanket.

ilovecherries · 19/08/2019 21:10

I’ve been trying on more clothes for my style book app. I think my sainsbury’s Leather jacket is probably too big for me now, it’s sitting very low on the waist and it’s sort of empty over the chest. I just feel a bit swamped in it. So having decided I def wasn’t having a hush one, I’m back to considering it. But if I am back to having one jacket, I’m wondering if grey or black would be more versatile than navy.

dontcallmelen · 20/08/2019 09:39

Not 😂 at the sheepy jumper tis obviously made for you, hope manic work time is now calming down & dye project with sparkle bits sounds great.
Am sooo jealous of you knitters, my Mum was a brilliant knitter unfortunately I did not inherit that gene I still have a pair of forty year old unfinished bootees that I started when expecting Ds😳
Off with dd shortly to take dgd to see the Gruffulo, she is beyond exited.

dontcallmelen · 20/08/2019 09:41

cherries I’m in the camp of you can’t have enough jackets, so I’m enabling as I’m still lusting after a navy one.

Ellapaella · 20/08/2019 13:04

Boden coat. I love it.. honestly the nicest coat I've ever had. The photos don't do the colour justice. It's a keeper for sure. Thinking a pink or yellow scarf would go well?

Also what do you think of the black biker boots? Shall I keep or just stick with DM's for winter?

Ninkaninus · 20/08/2019 15:11

Hello hushistas! I’ve missed you. 🌷

Haven’t RTFT yet but just seen your pics Ella and I love the coat! It’s just beautiful and really suits you. 😍

I had to sneak away for a bit, for various reasons but mainly because I was wanting to spend too much! 😄

I got a lovely wool coat which I’m chuffed with as all my occasion coats are at least a size too small for me atm. Yes I could lose weight but I don’t want to put myself under any pressure to do so, so I really need at least one coat I can wear for evenings out throughout A/W:

www.jigsaw-online.com/product/double-face-bell-sleeve-coat/J38249_BL010

Also got this silk top in a gorgeous colour, which I love:

www.whistles.com/women/sale/tops/gabrielle-print-silk-top-28065.html?cgid=Tops_Sale_WW&dwvar_gabrielle-print-silk-top-28065_color=Yellow%2FMulti#start=0

Other than that I’m not really buying at the moment. Will get a trench/Mac if I find the perfect one (again, need one that fits me as I am now), and have a hole in footwear wardrobe of flat Chelsea boots or similar, all my current ones are mid to high heels.

As always have got bags aplenty on my wishlist but that will have to wait for January sales!

Am looking at getting 3-4 dresses to wear throughout A/W as well.

I hope you’re all well!

twosoups1972 · 20/08/2019 16:00

@Ellapaella the coat is really beautiful, looks gorgeous on you Smile. Is it warm?

Ellapaella · 20/08/2019 16:09

Hello @Ninkaninus nice to see you back. I love your coat and blouse, lovely.
@twosoups1972 yes the coat is very warm, honestly I love it. Really pleased with the quality.

noodlezoodle · 20/08/2019 17:41

Love the coat Ella and you are also really making me want some Docs! The black boots are nice but it's the Docs that made me go back for a second look at the picture.

dontcallmelen · 20/08/2019 17:42

Ella lovely coat, yy yellow or bright pink scarf will look fab, I like the biker & the Dm boots so no help.
Nink was thinking about you yesterday, lovely lovely purchases & brilliant prices.

GinandGingerBeer · 20/08/2019 17:49

Ooh that's lovely @Ellapaella. Gorgeous colour and a great fit on you. You'll get loads of wear out of that 👏👏👏

GinandGingerBeer · 20/08/2019 17:50

......slinks back off to bathroom websites to procrastinate a bit more over what finish to choose 😫😫😫

Huffthepuff · 20/08/2019 17:57

Lovely coat Ella!

Ellapaella · 20/08/2019 18:02

Thanks all for the coat love. Noodle I think I'm going to send the boots back, I got them in brown too and while I like them I think that DM's are my true love and those are the ones I will wear most. It's not like you can really wear DM's out!

Ellapaella · 20/08/2019 18:02

Sorry posted too soon, I meant to say @noodlezoodle that definitely get a pair of DM's, you won't regret it. They just go with everything.

Nanasueathome · 20/08/2019 18:18

Well my Toast basket now contains 11 items at a cost of £1695
Bring on the sale!!!!!!!!!

SoyYo · 20/08/2019 18:18

Not beautiful jumper! It’s a keeper! Don’t work too hard darling.

Nink gorgeous purchases, adore the silk blouse and lovely to read you again.

Ella jeans And THAT Coat! Perfection!! So pleased for you, the biker boots are nice but the DM’s have the edge definitely. But the coat is really really beautiful 😍

noodlezoodle · 20/08/2019 18:36

Ella my only hesitation with getting some DMs is that it takes me ages to break in new shoes and I often get really bad blisters on my heels. I had some DMs many years ago in the early 90s and they were murder on my feet, even when I took a hammer to the back to try and soften the leather Grin. Have you had any problems with yours or were they comfy straight away?
