Thank you so much! Yes it's an opal.

I had seen it and loved it but had no idea he'd bought it or was about to propose. He asked me onMonday morning as I was rushing out to work 🤣. Apparently he'd been carrying it in his pocket all weekend to take me out and propose but was thwarted by two unexpected sets of visitors!! So thought he'd make a miserable Monday better instead!

Wow I love opals. I'll bet the pic doesn't even do it justice either. The way the stone shimmers in the sunlight is to die for. I could stare at an opal all day. And what a bloody big one it is too!! You must catch yourself staring at it constantly.

Another poster who loves an alternative stone to diamond for an engagement ring (although the I bet the sparkles around the Opal make it even more beautiful)

Beautiful.

Just be careful though, opals are a bit soft and can scratch/crack easily - particularly if put in hot water, so best to take it off when washing up and showering.

I'm another that likes alternative stones for engagement rings and I love an opal, so I'm slightly biased when I say how beautiful it is!!
