I've lost count of how many threads we've had! Previous thread.

Let's keep the gossip lighthearted and, as always, stick to critiquing the clothes rather than being overly critical about the women wearing them.

I'd love to have that thick flippy hair that Letizia has. She always looks amazing and I can't really see a resemblance to Caitlyn Jenner. Poor Cindy Crawford gets that comparison a lot too, and I kind of can see it in that instance...

Flooopers · 19/07/2019 19:12

I'm sure those Danish teens were straight back into their artfully ripped jeans as soon as the photo shoot was over.

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/07/2019 19:46

But they're still a more fun choice for a teenage princess than those matronly suits Beatrice and Eugenie had to endure @BigGreenOlives!

i don’t think we can compare what B & E wore with what the Dutch Princesses are wearing now as life was much more formal then. However the clothes Lady Louise wears are not nearly as stylish as those worn by the Dutch Princesses.

Flooopers · 19/07/2019 20:02

Louise always looks like she's been dressed by a 94 year old maiden aunt. Which is strange because her own mother is often quite stylish. But she may well choose her own clothes!

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/07/2019 20:13

It was only the early 2000s @BigGreenOlives, I don't think things were that different then!

I’ve been doing some google research & agree with you @QueenOfTheAndals, I’m wrong. I’m not sure where they should have gone shopping in the early 2000s as my children were tiny then and I was in my early 30s wearing a mix of Zara, GAP, DvF and Prada.

MotherofPearl · 19/07/2019 20:33

@QueenOfTheAndals Grin great minds and all that!

Wetdogloveshubert · 19/07/2019 20:48

Leti's outfit today is gorgeous - and those heels! Leti and Meghan give great shoes.

Here's a strange thing, though. Anne in a perfectly functional and appropriate suit, but with the Dubarry boots that Kate has worn a few times. They're so jarring!

Ouch - those boots with that suit look awful. Tbh the suit gives off an unfortunate Nazi officer vibe to me. Don't suppose Anne cares too much and maybe it was a practical choice, but not a good look

Flooopers · 19/07/2019 20:56

I would say '1940s lady on grouse hunt' but not a great look!

AppleKatie · 19/07/2019 21:04

Not a great suit or boots from Anne.

Not that I imagine she gives a flying F.

I’m off to an event that she will be attending in a few weeks time, I hope I get to see a nicer suit 😂

QueenOfTheAndals · 19/07/2019 21:26

Its been quite wet today but I'm sure there are boots that'd be better suited to that suit than those ones. But yes, the whole ensemble has a lady Nazi vibe.

Oooh, @AppleKatie, I hope you'll be giving us a detailed report back - how exciting!

Clankboing · 19/07/2019 22:31

According to the Metro website, the Queen has tiny bats in the ballroom at Balmoral. As they are a protected species they can't get rid of them, but they shoo them out every so often, leaving windows open so they can return. The Queen used to help but now that she is getting on, she just observes / encourages. I have a lovely image of her running about with a butterfly net! (Apologies - unsure how to attach link on app).

Flooopers · 19/07/2019 22:36

'bats in the ballroom at Balmoral' sounds like a euphemism. I'm not sure for what though!

Balloondog · 19/07/2019 22:40

@ElspethFlashman Thanks for the Tig links, I'd never seen it before. How interesting and poignant that the second feature is a Father's Day tribute from Meghan to her father. She clearly admired and valued him very much, and it's sad that that seems to have unravelled and in such a dramatic and public way. I hope the fact that we haven't heard from Thomas Markle in the papers etc. since Archie's birth means they have managed to privately settle their differences.

On the subject of Eugenie's green dress; for all those saying it showed too much cleavage remember how often we've said she should wear lower necklines. I have a similar bosom to Eug and it's a nightmare trying to find things that aren't so high they make your boobs look like a shelf and aren't so low you look all 'buxom wench'. There's actually precious little out there that's just right!

Skincare wise I've been using Boots own brand cheap cucumber moisturiser for almost 20 years. I've been unable to find the one with SPF 15 in it recently so have 'upgraded' to the £2.50 Oil of Olay lotion, also fab! I should add I'm not adverse to spending serious £££'s on skincare but have never found a lotion to compare to my trusty Boots/Olay Grin

ElspethFlashman · 19/07/2019 23:07

Yeah but did you notice the story she told? That he went into a toy store and ripped two Barbie sets apart, one white and one black, and insisted they sell him his frankenBarbie set cos there wasnt a biracial Barbie family? She tells it like "my Dad was so cool" but she must have been cringing. He literally tore the boxes! They could have called the police! He went into a store and vandalised the merchandise!

Clankboing · 19/07/2019 23:22

I use Oil of Olay beauty fluid most days. I find that it is light and rarely reacts with foundation. I use it on its own too. At night I use the Aldi Q10 - recently anyway. I find it prevents that dryness you can get at the side of your nose, that then makes foundation look rubbish. If I could afford more expensive beauty products I probably would buy them! I've tried lots of foundations. My favourites: Bourjois Healthy serum mix; No7 tinted moisturiser, Clinique tinted moisturiser (not the exact name but it's packed in my case for my holiday). I like the dewy effect, not matte, as I'm in my late 40s. My real favourite at the moment is Revlon Colorstay. I have a very active job and going through menopause. It's the only foundation that I stay looking calm and collected in, not red and flustered! It stays on all day. It's fab! I'm not searching for my ideal foundation anymore!

SlipperOrchid · 19/07/2019 23:41

I think the teens of the Dutch royal family are dressed terribly. Their dresses are horrendous and ill fitting. The girl in the red dress looks particularly dreadful. I can't see them being any better than Louise (who also dresses badly but at least her clothes fit her!).

Daisypie · 20/07/2019 00:06

I love how the Dutch family are all so glowing and sort of solidly built. (Think this is the family I would fit in to in terms of body size and shape).
I cringe a bit reading the Tig. It is so utterly about promoting Meghan as a brand.

Flooopers · 20/07/2019 00:16

The Tig seems very Goop inspired.

mathanxiety · 20/07/2019 01:20

I disagree with you on the Dutch teens, SlipperOrchid.
They dress far better than Louise imo - in contemporary styles that suit their figures, whereas Louise appears in public in what I would describe as 'costumes', a 1950s idea of what a teenager should wear.

The oldest Dutch princess will be queen one day and thus wears a good deal of orange in various shades (as does Max) but they still manage to make her clothes look normal.

mathanxiety · 20/07/2019 01:41

While I don't read many blogs, Daisypie, from my own small sample I draw the conclusion that promoting oneself as a brand is what they are all about.
