Can anyone help me check my colours (with picture)

Before I throw out 80% of my wardrobe....

My youngest is just coming up on 2 and I finally have a bit more freedom, time and money to spend on myself.

I've done a couple of online colour quizes which put me as a winter (though there seem to be different subsets). Does that look right based on my photo? I'm definitely cool toned and wear silver rather than gold.

I think the only thing that's throwing me is that I'm quite drawn to mustard yellow which it seems should be avoided as a winter. Though perhaps that's just because that colour has been all over the place for the last couple of years. Winter jewel colours seem harder to find at the minute (but I do live in the highlands and shops are limited). Thank you Smile

a quick glance before i read your post i thought autumn. maybe soft autumn? i think that goes cooler

KatharinaRosalie · 17/07/2019 15:16

can you take photos of yourself in mustard yellow/moss green and then some of the strong jewel colours recommended for winter? You can often see how one makes your skin and eyes dull and other brightens them up.

Neptunesgiraffe · 17/07/2019 15:20

I think you're a Summer which is also cool tones.

YahBasic · 17/07/2019 15:22

You are a very similar colouring to me. I self diagnosed as Winter, then won a reading with a consultant and got properly diagnosed as an Autumn.

PaulHollywoodsleftbollockhair · 17/07/2019 16:16

soft summer

BiscuitDrama · 17/07/2019 16:18

I’d say autumn or summer. Your colouring is too soft to be a winter.

How do you get on with pink or orange toned lipstick or tops? Have you ever noticed a particular colour as being really good or really bad on you?

Cookit · 17/07/2019 16:24

I don’t think winter.

RoomForOneMore · 17/07/2019 18:14

Thanks everyone! So definitely not a Spring, at least thats getting somewhere Smile

I dont wear any orange and have never found a lipstick I liked on, just go natural with a bit of balm.

My favourite ever dress is emerald green, that colour suits me. Also mint and teal. Very dusky pink looks ok, some navy but not royal blue. Don't own anything purple, red or yellow (except a rich mustard jumper).

Suit grey rather than brown as a neutral.

I'll look up those other colour palettes and see which one stands out most to me.

Definitely cool, so winter or summer.

DearDeirdre · 17/07/2019 18:19

I thought Autumn

endofthelinefinally · 17/07/2019 18:20

Is that your natural hair colour?
It is important to consider.

RoomForOneMore · 17/07/2019 18:24

Pretty close to natural hair colour (covering up grown out highlights with a semi box dye, got the closest colour I could find) natural is maybe a touch lighter but same tones.

I thought autumn. If white looks AWFUL on you, you are Autumn!

RoomForOneMore · 17/07/2019 18:26

How to tackle my hair is the next problem...it's wet in the picture and has a nice curl but turns to a fuzzy mess as soon as it's dry and I'm useless at styling.

I would go for summer then, with an emphasis on the green/ grey/ blue tones.
It is always difficult based on a photograph, but those are my thoughts.

dudsville · 17/07/2019 18:27

What online questionnaires did you use? I've never had my colours done and would love to check.

Ps I think berry colours might look good on you, with dark grey but not black.

RoomForOneMore · 17/07/2019 18:28

White actually looks fine, I just don't own a lot of it as I have three young kids and work as an engineer so it would never be out of the wash...

There are so many shades of grey, white, etc it is difficult to describe a colour in words.

RoomForOneMore · 17/07/2019 18:30

I cant remember the exact quiz, I did a few, just searched for free colour analysis quiz. Half the problem is they all give different results.

Your hair looks lovely and thick. What about scrunching a volumising mousse into it and trying out some messy bun styles? I've got John Freida Dream Curls at the moment which i quite like.

RoomForOneMore · 17/07/2019 18:33

Thanks again everyone, now to find some new clothes to try, want to look a bit more put together (dont we all!) And get rid of all my old jeans and baggy tops, and lose a bit more weight (1 stone down and would like to lose another, though may be a bit ambitious, havent been 10st since me wedding 8 years ago...)

Pereonally, I think mustard yellow looks dreadful on nearly everyone. I think pinks would be lovely on you

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 17/07/2019 18:38

No bloody idea but you have beautiful eyes.

RoomForOneMore · 17/07/2019 18:39

My hair is incredibly thick, it spends 95% of the time piled up in a messy bun, it's only ever straightened when i go to the hairdresser (about once a year...)

I think you are a warm or a clear winter, think Anne Hathaway, Megan Fox.

Your skin is too pink toned for summer even a cool summer.
