Can anyone help me check my colours (with picture)

Before I throw out 80% of my wardrobe....

My youngest is just coming up on 2 and I finally have a bit more freedom, time and money to spend on myself.

I've done a couple of online colour quizes which put me as a winter (though there seem to be different subsets). Does that look right based on my photo? I'm definitely cool toned and wear silver rather than gold.

I think the only thing that's throwing me is that I'm quite drawn to mustard yellow which it seems should be avoided as a winter. Though perhaps that's just because that colour has been all over the place for the last couple of years. Winter jewel colours seem harder to find at the minute (but I do live in the highlands and shops are limited). Thank you Smile

I had new lenses put in my old frames last time. I would love new frames, but they are ridiculously priced.

FaithInfinity · 17/07/2019 19:56

Hmm. I have blue veins and I’m an Autumn! Although a dark blue Autumn.

If you don’t suit black you’re unlikely to be a winter. I wasn’t really drawn to most of my colours in Autumn. In fact I was adamant I wasn’t going to be an Autumn! Grin But once I learned my colours I started to embrace them. I’d never have gone for khaki or brown before but I love them now! It might be worth noting what suits you as a list to see if you can identify your seasons like that.

That's interesting faith. Was just passing on what my house of colour consultant said but she was a bit rubbish so it wouldn't surprise me if she was wrong

RoomForOneMore · 17/07/2019 20:18

Hair a bit like this maybe?

I really don't think you're an Autumn. On your pictures you definitely have pink/cool undertones not warm.

Lisette1940 · 17/07/2019 20:50

I think Ella's right

Soft summer has the darker, dustier tones and I can see these working for you...

I also think you would suit a cropped bob....

Summer I say.

You can get colour and shape analysis done online for £30 by Styled by Susie.

RoomForOneMore · 17/07/2019 21:49

I like a lot of those colours, will see if I can find a few basics and try them out.

I would love to go shorter with my hair but think I would regret not being able to tie it up and it's so thick it might tend to stick out.

I would also reassess the glasses when you get the chance as the ones you have now are too wide for your face. I also have a terrible time finding ones that suit me.

Have you tried this sort of shape?

Re hair-a good hairdresser will shape it so it won't be too heavy or stick out. Might be worth considering. When you want it off your face - a hair scarf would do the trick.

There is always a pixie too....

Pretty sure I don't have the dainty facial features to pull off a pixie, I considered this cut once but chickened out in the end. My DH definitely prefers it when my hair is longer (not that he gets the deciding vote or would stop me, I'm just concious of it).

I did try glasses a bit like that last time but they all seemed so deep on my face, going to save up and look again for a new pair though, just might take a while...

Another vote for Autumn. The green and mustard look great on you x

QueenBeee · 18/07/2019 06:38

I don't think you can take photos with different colours and post them and get a true image because a camera on auto setting adjusts for colour and light reflection so pics won't be comparable.
I could be wrong there.
Pull your hair right back. sit in front of a mirror with natural light and hold the fabric across your front. Your face and eyes should look brighter and healthier if the colour enhances you and pastier and more shadowed (eg lines by mouth, shadows under eyes) if it doesn't suit you. Or thats what I find.

Olajs · 18/07/2019 07:11

Definitely a summer of some sort - the coolness of your colouring is very obvious but your colouring is way too soft and delicate to be winter.

Senoritaforever · 18/07/2019 07:16

I’m a winter but I would say you are not. I can wear black and white but you say you can’t wear black. I think you look lovely in that blue.

KatharinaRosalie · 18/07/2019 08:44

Summer. The pastel colours look great and mustard does nothing for you.

Deathraystare · 18/07/2019 08:47

Have you loooked at your veins - are they blue (cool or more green? (warm). Any moles? are they a golden brown (warm) colour or more of a grey brown? (cool).

What foundation colour? If you think you have got the colour right is it pink toned/neutral/yellow toned??

LoafofSellotape · 18/07/2019 08:51

I'm another who think mustard does nothing for anyone.

Olajs · 18/07/2019 10:06

From the pics you posted of the draped colours the cool teal blue and the pastels look the best. The electric blue overwhelms your delicate colouring and the mustardy orangery colour does nothing for you. I bet you’d look lovely in ‘dusty’ mid toned cool colours like soft raspberry.

LoafofSellotape · 18/07/2019 11:40

I think a cropped bob as posted above would look stunning.

RoomForOneMore · 18/07/2019 12:38

Thanks everyone, it is very hard to do with photos isn't it and not an exact science.

Happy that I'm definietly cool toned and will definitely try out some dusky colours (if I can find any on the shops!).

Not going to blow out and buy everything new at once, would like to lose a bit more weight first anyway.

I have the hairdressers at the start of August so will see how much I get chopped off and will be saving up for new glasses.

Will be a whole new person by christmas!

You don't have to have a drawer of different coloured scarves to test whether a colour suits you or not just use towels/bedding/ bits of curtain fabric/ borrowed jumpers etc to get a variety of shades and colours.

isitwhatitis · 21/07/2019 08:14

The teal and pale green look lovely.
