Would it bother you if your doctor was wearing shoes like these?

I love them, but can't really justify them unless I wear them for work, at least sometimes. They have loads of styles - some are definitely innappropriate but wondered if some would be ok. Rest of outfit is usually colourful but fairly smart/ conservative.

If my gp wore these or irregular choice, I'd make a point to only see them. They're awesome!

manicmij · 17/07/2019 17:44

Not in the least. Can't say I've ever paid attention to what a GP has as footwear.

EleanorOalike · 17/07/2019 17:44

My colleague (teacher) has started wearing these. I thought she was wearing slippers or something at first because in the flesh they don’t look like proper shoes. I do find them unprofessional and would be surprised to see a Dr in them.

I think they’re hideous and I’m shocked at the price. I genuinely thought my colleague had been picking them up in a supermarket or primark type shop.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 17/07/2019 17:44

No it wouldn't bother me at all

I particularly like those blue ones with little clouds on.

Abuelan · 17/07/2019 17:46

Wouldn’t bother me 🥰

JumpingJaneFlash · 17/07/2019 17:50

What are “professional” shoes?

Mine wears Doc Marten boots with skirts one day then trousers with ballet flats another. It distracts me from the seriousness of the visit.

I wouldn’t care if my GP wore pvc thigh boots with a tutu, it’s so hard to get an appointment!

MerdedeBrexit · 17/07/2019 17:52

I'd hate those baby girl shoes whichever adult woman might be wearing them. It wouldn't make me doubt your ability as a professional but I would query your taste.

jcyclops · 17/07/2019 17:54

My GP would look silly in these. He wouldn't look brilliant in stilettos either.

SongforSal · 17/07/2019 17:54

I think little worried children would love it. I'd smile to. Go for it!

Mary54 · 17/07/2019 17:55

My dh had a doctors appointment with our gp last week. Dr was dressed in the practice‘s polo shirt plus shorts and flip flops (it was fairly warm). Didn’t seem to affect his work and made us smile

ToftyAC · 17/07/2019 17:56

I like it when my GP dresses less stuffily. I’m more comfortable around people who look comfortable and are showing some personality.

loveyou3000 · 17/07/2019 17:57

I actually do not care one bit what a medical professional is wearing if they are clean and don't laugh at my medical problems (as one GP did!). I think kids would rather enjoy their Dr wearing those shoes too

IncandescentShadow · 17/07/2019 17:58

Are they childrens' shoes? Sorry, going against the grain here, but I don't think they're formal enough for work. They look uncomfortable too. If you like them that much, why not wear them outside work? I think they look fairly ridiculous, like Dorothy out of the Wizard of Ozz or something and I would probably think a doctor wearing them was somewhat cranky and impractical.

gearandloathing · 17/07/2019 17:59

I do think they look a bit unprofessional. I would probably judge you in a slightly negative way, be that right or wrong.

Holyshitbags · 17/07/2019 18:01

I couldn’t give a shit what my doctor is wearing as long as they were decent!!
I’d probably be very envious tbh - those shoes are awesome!!

Baguetteaboutit · 17/07/2019 18:02

They are the kind of shoes that would make me worry you'd prescribe a lavender bath instead of painkillers.

Jux · 17/07/2019 18:02

I love them and would ask you where you got them.

Couldn't care less what my doctor wears.

Medianoche · 17/07/2019 18:06

Wow! I was quite taken aback by the strength of opinion on this topic (as I sit here wearing my very comfy Hot Chocolate shoes), then I remembered that I silently judge everyone who wears heels in the workplace.
I’d probably stick to a symmetrical pattern for the workplace, but they are comfortable, practical shoes that don’t show toes or heels and do allow you to walk miles in a day. I’ve seen way less appropriate shoes for work, mostly on people who imagine they’re looking ‘professional’.

Diva66 · 17/07/2019 18:09

It wouldn’t bother me, I’d ask where she got them! Due to mobility impairment I can’t walk in ‘ordinary ‘ shoes, those look perfect.

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 17/07/2019 18:10

OP - we need to know what sort of doctor you are! Grin

PurpleDaisies · 17/07/2019 18:13

I’m not sure the op is bothering to come back...

Lockheart · 17/07/2019 18:15

If I'm ill enough to need a doctor I don't care if they're wearing clown shoes and deelyboppers to be quite frank.

No they're not very professional, but if I'm in a doctors office that would be so far down my list of "things I'm worried about" that it'd never see light of day.

starsparkle08 · 17/07/2019 18:16

Wouldn’t bother me at all . And children would probably love them .

It’s the attitude of the doctor that means most and being listened to and respected .

Wardround · 17/07/2019 18:16

I think they're perfectly appropriate and I would totally wear some of them but would keep the rest of it smart or conservative-ish. I'd think plain coloured heels are more inappropriate for the job at hand, really.
