Would it bother you if your doctor was wearing shoes like these?

I love them, but can't really justify them unless I wear them for work, at least sometimes. They have loads of styles - some are definitely innappropriate but wondered if some would be ok. Rest of outfit is usually colourful but fairly smart/ conservative.

I couldn't care less what my doctor has on their feet, tbh. It doesn't change their treatment plan does it? If you like them, wear them.

ItchySeveredFoot · 16/07/2019 11:31

I'd think it was cute. Someone up thread mentioned a male doctor with wacky bow ties. I've seen similar before with ties. Not a single person questions their professionalism. And shoes are more subtle I think. Ties are right there near your face!

Thenameisweasley · 16/07/2019 11:31

I love them! I'd respect you more for wearing them Grin

LenoVentura · 16/07/2019 11:32

Who even notices what their doctor is wearing? Or cares? How can shoes be professional or not professional, they don't do any aspect of the job.

Fibbke · 16/07/2019 11:33

No of course not.

I'd question her sartorial style, but if she does a good job then hey ho.

TheInebriati · 16/07/2019 11:33

Don't wear anything that you would find embarrassing if you have to give someone bad news.

MonkeyToesOfDoom · 16/07/2019 11:34

I think I'd ask to see the grown up doctor.

Nesssie · 16/07/2019 11:34

Are you a gp in a clinic or a doctor in a hospital?

For some reason that makes a difference to me!

But I wouldn't be bothered, and if you got the ones with pills on I would think they were hilarious!

MyOpinionIsValid · 16/07/2019 11:34

Clearly you've never worked with psychiatric nurses and hospital SWs ... all utterly batshit in the fashion stakes.

Pieceofpurplesky · 16/07/2019 11:34

I would wear these for work and would be judges terribly by my pupils for lack of taste but what do they know? I love them - wear them OP

Haworthia · 16/07/2019 11:35

Any adult wearing those, regardless of job, I’d think was maybe trying a bit too hard to be wacky. But y’know, whatever floats your boat!

Fibbke · 16/07/2019 11:35

That is very good advice.

fruitbrewhaha · 16/07/2019 11:37

They're great, it would cheer me up.

BadBear · 16/07/2019 11:37

It would bother me if my doctor was not paying attention to me.

Anything that makes my GPs day a bit brighter and allows them to express themselves is perfectly fine. Anyone who says they are are inappropriate needs to lighten up!

Shoes don't make you a better or worse doctor so if you love them and they put a smile on your face, go for it! Smile

StillMedusa · 16/07/2019 11:39

My DD1 occasionally gets away with harem pants (the proper nappy hippy type) at work.
She's a doctor too...and she would definitely wear those shoes :) She's never had any complaints about her hippy look..then again she is in surfer Cornwall Grin

StumpyinSomerset · 16/07/2019 11:41

I couldn't care less if he wore slippers,as long as he knew what he was doing! As long as he doesn't try to kill me,he could be sat in swimming trunks and barefeet!

Jellybeansincognito · 16/07/2019 11:42

I don’t like them but I can see the appeal to bring a bit of light to a miserable day!

Asta19 · 16/07/2019 11:42

I like seeing people wear things like that. I think it shows a fun side. But then I'm a 50 year old woman with Hello Kitty converse Grin
Seriously, life's too short and if those make you smile (and would make a lot of your patients smile) why not?

Rosemary46 · 16/07/2019 11:43

If you are a GP then you earn enough to have fun shoes for off duty and work shoes for work.

Women in medicine have enough trouble being taken seriously without wearing children’s shoes. Would your male colleagues wear the boys version of them ?

Billben · 16/07/2019 11:43

I wouldn’t mind at all. I like seeing a side to people I would have never thought they had. Makes them more human.

CatteStreet · 16/07/2019 11:44

Slightly astonished at some of the more po-faced comments on here (though the point about the smiley faces is a fair one). Wouldn't wear them myself, but it certainly wouldn't lead me to make any assumptions about a doctor's competence, personality or maturity Confused

DobbyTheHouseElk · 16/07/2019 11:46

I’d think it great.

What I didn’t like was a tramp walking around the MIU in my local hospital, muddy and stinking. Who then turned out to be the DR I was waiting for! He had grubby hands and smelt of his pigs. He’d obviously come straight from his farm without washing or changing his clothes. Non emergency, but part of his eccentric ways.

contrary13 · 16/07/2019 11:47

I don't think I've ever looked at my doctor's feet, to be honest... why would I? It's eye contact that's important when discussing intimate matters concerning someone's health, surely...?

81Byerley · 16/07/2019 11:47

Wouldn't bother me at all! As long as you do your job and you aren't displaying your naked body...I might ask you where you bought them though! Wink

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 16/07/2019 11:48

As long as I get to see a doctor I don’t give a flying rat’s arse what they are wearing.
