Should I cut my hair?

Wondering if I should get my hair cut. What does everyone think?

Photo is a bit crap - sorry - but very recent. Hair is nipple length and straight, the individual hairs are relatively fine but there are quite a lot of them.

merlotqueen I do my hair up sometimes, especially in braids, but unless I'm exercising I prefer to wear it down most of the time. I guess I was just more curious about changing length permanently or at least for a while.

My current hairdresser refuses to cut my hair apart from teeny trims haha.

thebluearsefly I didn't know how else to describe... Blush

Hairdresser has sent me these 3 to pick for tomorrow.

What does MN think?

The third one. The first two belong in the 1990s and need to stay there.

Chochito · 31/07/2019 17:37

Thanks, Soola. By third you mean the blonde girl in the black sweater?

You can do so much because you have great face shape. I bet you'd pull off any look.

Nothing to suggest except don't go too short a bob - otherwise you'd look like "you'd like yo speak to the manager" Grin

Karen memes on Instagram. You'll know when you see them!

ThinkWittyThoughts · 31/07/2019 17:45

Definitely 3rd one (blonde hair, black jumper)

Chochito · 31/07/2019 19:08

Thanks UserNameDeletedShortly and ThinkWittyThoughts.

I like that one too but worried I won't be able to style it.

I like the 3rd one too and think you'd probably be able to pull anything off.

I'm a bit cack handed too but wash hair, let it dry and then GHD them the next morning. That then lasts me that day and the next before washing again in the evening. Worth a try.

My hair cut today if it's any help, actually a bit shorter than the pictures you have shown

Soola · 31/07/2019 21:45

He the third one.

Also @buttertoasty your hair is lovely. I don’t like obviously straightened hair as it can look severe, but yours looks soft and bouncy, lovely colour too.

Chochito · 01/08/2019 12:10

Buttertoasty Your hair looks fantastic - the condition, the style, and the lovely colour.

My appointment is at 1.30pm TODAY! Feeling excited.

Left the hairdresser. Not feeling that great.

What happened? If the hairdresser has cocked it up, maybe we can help

Soola · 01/08/2019 15:58

You can always twist it up until it grows.

How short did she go with it?

raffle · 01/08/2019 16:00

Hair grows quickly after a good cut. It’ll be ok. Sorry you’re not happy.

Chochito · 01/08/2019 16:28

Really disappointed, sorry, was in a bad mood before hence the very short post.

She didn't cut it at all!

I think I will go back to my usual stylist ASAP. (I tried a new person as my usual stylist does the same tiny trim every time and I was getting bored).

ScarlettDarling · 01/08/2019 17:45

She didn’t cut it? Why on Earth not? What did she do?

Chochito · 01/08/2019 18:09

ScarlettDarling Just a blowdry. Sad Sad

sparklefarts · 01/08/2019 18:18

Why did she not cut it?!!

Soola · 01/08/2019 20:47

Did she just hover around you snipping at thin air pretending to cut it or did she outright refuse?

Chochito · 01/08/2019 22:20

Soola Smile Smile Smile That is the perfect description of what my usual stylist does (hover and snip at thin air). For that exact reason, I went to another, who came highly recommended.

She was really nice and polite. She just said it was really nice as it is and doesn't need cutting. I'm not very insistent and so after I said what I wanted (long bob, like the photo) and she said no, I said again, and she said no because I would regret it as my current hair is nicer and she doesn't let people out of her salon looking worse. So I said, OK, just trim then, and she said it didn't need it. Then she spent absolutely ages on a blowdry, which was very nice (I love being pampered) and also very cheap.

Bit of a waste though as I went to the swimming pool afterwards. Shock Grin

Tbh, if a highly recommended stylist tells you there is nothing she could do which would be an improvement then I think you ought to listen to her.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds Thanks, you're absolutely right. My stylist and this new one both say the same, and they're the experts. After the intial selfish disappointment of not getting something new and exciting, I have calmed down (and grown up Blush ).

To be honest OP, I was looking at your before photos and thinking "she is crackers!" when you wanted to cut it all off! Then the short hair pictures surfaced and I decided that as I am not remotely fashionable, I must be wrong...turns out I'm not Grin Your long hair looks absolutely beautiful and I totally agree it doesn't need cutting! I think you need to get handy with styling it and then you get your variety! Perhaps book in and ask for some lessons with what can be done using a straightener or something!
