For sure Dobby. Going on his past form, there's no way he'd have kept his head down around the birth of the baby had he not been paid off, or they've made up - but if that was the case I think he'd be all over the papers saying they'd made up and there would be pics of him visiting.

"......the most famous LAT in the UK."

Excuse my ignorance or innocence (or both) but what does LAT mean please ?

StCharlotte · 16/07/2019 14:22

beanaseireann

I'm thinking it means "Living Apart Together" as it's understood Charles and Camilla do.

CalamBalam · 16/07/2019 14:23

Has the awful sister gone quiet too?

Loveislandaddict · 16/07/2019 15:06

I didn’t know what LAT meant either.

LenoVentura · 16/07/2019 15:32

I know two couples who are LAT. It is hard to get your head around, but when it works it seems to be very satisfying. They don't talk about it much because a lot of folks are a bit Hmm about it.

Ninkaninus · 16/07/2019 15:47

I totally get LAT. I’d happily do it (part time, at least) if we comfortably had the means to do so. I’d always much rather be happy to see my OH and spend time with him than ever get to the point where either of us was desperate to get away from the other.

But I like space in a relationship, and I don’t believe people have to be in each other’s pockets all the time in order for it to be a strong and enduring relationship.

SenecaFalls · 16/07/2019 15:48

I know a couple, who when they retired and sold the family home, moved into two apartments across the corridor from each other. It seemed to work well for them.

GotToGoMyOwnWay · 16/07/2019 15:54

Friends of dh have been LAT since they married more than 25 years ago. Whatever works I suppose but I wonder what happens when one gets unwell as they age.

BrandonFlowers · 16/07/2019 16:39

Prue Leith was LAT with her husband but i think she said she’s building a house or something for him on her land/plot/whatever you call it where she lives.

Ninkaninus · 16/07/2019 17:34

Another very interesting programme with Queen Margrethe. This one is in English so no issues with dodgy translation (just a few sound/recording problems a few minutes in which is resolved fairly quickly). Some commentary from Prince Henrik on having been a private rather than public individual prior to marrying into royalty and learning to ‘keep one”s mouth shut’ (although he was a diplomat before that so I’m sure had some experience in smiling and nodding etc).which I thought was interesting given the discussion on this thread. It was filmed in the seventies so all the footage us vintage by now (goodness that makes me feel old!):

QueenOfTheAndals · 16/07/2019 18:22

I'm always astounded by Margarethe's cut-glass accent when she speaks English! Joachim is the same, but CPF sounds more Danish. Wasn't Henrik French?

AdaColeman · 16/07/2019 18:26

On behalf of all Danish people, the Queen's name is Margrethe! Grin

Notmyrealname855 · 16/07/2019 18:30

LAT sounds rather nice :) I at least need some decompression time when I get home from work... different flats would be ideal :)

I don’t mind the royals having a quiet summer, hopefully with no long lens cameras!

ElspethFlashman · 16/07/2019 18:31

Oh dear Meghan. Please learn to say absolutely nothing of any interest at these premieres. Please learn to say "That's so kind/How interesting/You must be very pleased/It's lovely to be here/It must have been hard work/it's a wonderful occasion/I wish you every success/have you come far?" and just repeat at nauseum.

Please never refer to "they" within earshot of a microphone ever again. It's not worth it.

I know it's hard to be so neutral and bland and borderline vacuous, but it's the main part of the gig and in fairness, you get a lot in return.

SunshineCake · 16/07/2019 18:35

FGS leave her alone. She's new, she's learning the "rules" and she's clearly finding it hard for her to voice it.

pastaparadise · 16/07/2019 18:39

pic of zara and mike at the tennis. Can't see the dress well but Zara looks so glam. Her hair down really suits her

Disfordarkchocolate · 16/07/2019 18:42

Meghan said nothing wrong. Compared to some of the comments Prince Phillip has said she's a model of tact, and let's not forget Princes Charles' tapes!!

beanaseireann · 16/07/2019 18:49

What did Meghan say ?
Cant be worse than her father in law wanting to be a Tampax.

DobbyTheHouseElk · 16/07/2019 18:56

Zara is beautiful

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 16/07/2019 19:03

www.thesun.co.uk/fabulous/9517188/meghan-markle-pharrell-williams-royal-life-not-easy/

It isn't clear who she means by "they".

JaimeBronde · 16/07/2019 19:10

Well I don't blame Meghan for saying 'They don't make it easy' when talking to Pharrell Williams (who was congratulating her & Harry on their marriage & relationship & alluding to the 'rubbish/difficulties/rumours' that can be thrown at you when being in in the public eye.)
The press & naysayers do not make it easy for her/them.

JaimeBronde · 16/07/2019 19:11

I'm assuming she means the press & also the human detractors.

ClingingMeSoftly · 16/07/2019 19:14

I really hope and assume she means the press by “they”. Even though the press are right behind, listening hard. She couldn’t mean the taxpayer.

PoW may have said stuff about tampons but he was on a phone call with an expectation of privacy! Not in front of a load of cameras, microphones and press! Plus - he was replying to Camilla. She said “perhaps you’ll come back as a pair of knickers” and he said jokingly “or God forbid, a tampax!” He didn’t actually say he wanted to be one. He wasn’t sleezing in sexy tones that he wanted to be her tampon. But as ever, the DM and other rags print what they print and unless you double check the facts - that is what gets repeated.

Gooseysgirl · 16/07/2019 19:15

Oh FFS I'm starting to get very fed up of all the MM bashing 🙄
